I would say it's between now: Pixie (plenty of airplay and a catchy song and she's still popular) and either of Snow Patrol (comeback)/Saturdays (Gold may be in sight) and Example (could do two weeks). Leona now......I can see her missing the top 10! I even think Melanie C has a better crack of finishing higher than her. Leona has been forgotten about, and I think she'll be on the pop scrapheap unless she ditches Syco and goes it alone and totally revamps herself.

Cover Drive are obviously benefiting from the looted I-Tunes vouchers :D It's obviously low class people/stupid teens buying it. Go Christina and Maroon 5!!! Both deserve a #1 :yahoo:

Go Will, Olly and Calvin!!!!! Disappointed that (w)Retch 22 will be #1 this week ahead of Emeli and Maroon5/Christina :(
  4. I wonder how many of Cher Lloyd's singles were nicked in the riots?

A shame Christina can't get a hit here.....sums up the lack of taste with the general public here.

I think it should be banned as it is corrupt and a bad influence towards the music industry. Leona and One Direction will have rigged sales as Simon Cowell manipulates the charts and is a Cameron supporter so he can get away with it. People are blind and silly to think that the XF songs get there on their own merit.

Glad that Cher has been knocked off........however that trash has replaced it :( The music industry in this country is in recession like the economy.
  8. Whoah!!! Perhaps Cher Lloyd could release her next single on her Jermey Kyle lie-detector results ;)
  9. Crikey! I bet it was expensive to purchase.
  10. I think the whole aim of the Wets' fans was to download the ringtone as it counted to the chart....there was a CDS and download released too so I think the ringtone may have contributed to 50+% of the sales.
  11. I remember the Busted 3" CD single being released...there was a pile of them in the Coventry branch of HMV!!!! Was there any 1.44MB 3.5" floppy singles too?
  12. Could a 3 to 5" inch CD work on a standard CD player? Were micro cassetes (the types in old style answer machines and dictatphones) used to release a single?
  13. SD - isn't that the memory card in mobile phones? I could imagine someone big releasing their single in that format.....
  14. How did that work on a USB stick? Was it mp3, artwork, video?
  15. When it comes to chart singles, the first ones that come to us are CDs, vinyls, cassettes and now digital download. Has there been any more obscure chart single formats? I always remember HMV around 1998/99 with a minidisc section and could not get over the prices e.g. something like £18.99 for Spiceworld by The Spice Girls. Were any singles released on minidisc? This will be an interesting topic.

    There are no words......

Too true. The thing is, if you look at it the wider picture when a Syco act gets to #1 it's obviously he is engineering the charts for his acts to go to #1, plus a lot of singles buyers are young. I think the album chart has more credibility.

I've edited my post. I enjoy the charts, but the music industry is in a sorry state like the economy here. OK, this has gone on for years, but why so many great songs such as "Set Fire To The Rain" can't make #1 yet some slag who has probably had herpes gets to #1 with a nonsense song and can't sing and rap.

Sickening. The UK public need their heads testing buying this rubbish and although I sound like a stuck record, Syco has had an input with the sales in this. As for One Direction, surely they must be the only act EVER to have merchandise and marketing before releasing a single. Again pretty boys with no talents who only appeal to young girls and the deaf. A sad state of affairs here.....and something must be done.

The Popiscles album is a compilation of rock n roll songs http://www.amazon.co.uk/Popsicles-Strawber...s/dp/B002WBT9DO
  21. Thank you for this information :) Congrats to Coldplay for getting the lowest ever position on a now album. Let's pray Rebbeca Black doesn't feature........

Another vote for "My Heart Will Go On"......take away the sappy, drippy, crappy film it was featured on, it would be lucky to make the top 20. It's nothing but a run of the mill ballad with sickening lyrics.

JLS with a 50% lead....makes me sick. The public need their eyes and ears testing. As for the Cheryl thing, she's nothing but a talentless waste of space who will do anything to get in the newspapers....but I'll save that for another thread.
  24. I have a few queries regarding tracks on the NOW series albums. What is the lowest charting song to feature on a NOW album? I am quite sure it is "Turn It Up" by the Feeling which made #67 but I am sure this has been outdone. Which edition has spawned the most #1s and songs NOT making the top 10 and 20?

I remember somewhere that "Be Faithful" looked unlikely to make #1, but for some odd reason there was a huge surge of sales (remember this was before downloads) and it shot to #1? I reckon that was rigged for it to make #1.
