  1. I hope they'll perform together as a five piece to reconnect with old fans even if it's for selling movie. I hope they'll commit and do it properly. We are living in a sad sad digital world, we need Spiceworld back in our lives. Their music, motto and positivity could save people's lives.
  2. It was bulk buying from their stans to game the chart. They only sold around 20,000 midweek. BTS stans are very organised to make it look like they're dominating the world. In fact, their album sales mostly pushed by stans and would drop out soon after in western charts. It is a lot more difficult to top Hot 100 or singles chart in the UK, UK is harder but they're on mission to do it esp. Hot 100.
  3. Any more news about the movie? Looks like Paramount is doing really well with Sonic right now, the fans are really happy about it.
  4. 2020 hasn't been kind at all. It's fine if they want to stay put but next year it's gonna be 25 years anniversary.
  5. Stop has aged pretty well though. Ordered both, at least this new black GH looks better than that picture disc lol
  6. Victoria is not willing to sing or perform anymore so she basically thinks after 20+ years, the movie is gonna sell itself easily just like that? lol
  7. According to the official global music industry report. https://techcrunch.com/2019/04/02/streaming...ldwide-in-2018/ Digital download market started to appear in 2004 with very tiny market share, streaming started to show up in early 2010s with very small share as well, it was growing 2013-2014, Billboard started to count streaming as sales in Dec. 2014, right now it's taking over the market. So Wannabe's 2.91 million number in the US was before Dec. 2014 right? Then I would say it was pure sales. Streaming is generating huge revenue but artists only get a tiny cut, most of the money goes to streaming services themselves but it helps new artists to build the fan base globally, grows their sale numbers if they have crazy stans to stream their music day in day out, keeps active veteran artists alive and relevant, artists can cash in later with touring (which is also growing constantly and generating massive revenue) or sponsorship deals or whatever. Only Adele can still sell her albums in this streaming era. With this rate if they're lazy like this and so scared of failure, they'll be surpassed in terms of sale numbers soon. The movie is a brilliant idea but they need to do more. The world tour would also hype up the fans around the world, Netflix was also a smart move to keep their faces in circles of streaming world as the 90s legendary icons, they have to release more new music as well, but it's the Spice Girls so we won't get any of those things.
  8. Streaming also has playlist system as well which is not organic enough to be counted as sales automatically, artists themselves upload tons of videos just to be counted and charted including those TikTok videos via youtube. Billboard has just changed the methodology here, I mean, they must know what's going on. My point still stands sales driven still much more powerful than stream-consumption even though they're trying to say they're equivalent. Since, you say, Old Town road has been massive culturally, I will wait and see how this song is doing 20 years from now comparing to those iconic tracks with huge sales 20 yrs ago.
  9. I'm aware there was some push via radio air play back in the day but track like All I want for Christmas was mostly driven by sales, she can still tour till these days because of that song alone, that's organic stuff from the audience same goes with Celine Dion's My heart will go on. Streaming sure does help music get back from dead but it's overrated and much more easy to be manipulated by platform themselves and stan culture. In 10-20 years from now, these people who've been streaming this Old Town Road song would still go and pay for tickets just for celebrating this song? I don't think so.
  10. So Old Town Road dethroned Mariah due to that TikTok shit? What a mess of this song streaming era, so easy to manipulate the charts. Seeing those songs take over the charts it's like seeing Marvel take over the film industry. Tragic.
  11. Their latest insta post though. They love teasing us fans, don't they?!
  12. I was talking about overall performance, it looked too amateur. And with her new management team plus spice buzz I'm sure she could get that major slot without Sink the Pink.
  13. JaneJ posted a post in a topic in Spice Girls's Spice Girls
The best year since the Olympics. :snif:
  14. Most people tend to confused voice tone with singing skills, if they don't like the voice then that artist is not a good singer. Melanie can sing very well but her tone could put some people off as a solo and that performance on Graham she was obviously nervous, it was her first major slot in ages, she wasn't at her best vocally. As for Sink the Pink, they're just not on that level yet, too amateur but I love their fun positive spirits. The choreograph was also bad, again too amateur. The lyrics were a bit cringe too, put those all together I can see the negative comments came from and if you look at other performances on Graham such as, Dua Lipa, Kylie, even Niall or Harry, you'll see the differences. I hope she gets another shot when the album comes out and slays.
  15. Those updates were from Soundscan/Billboard but if you want the cert you need to apply for it yourself, sending the figures(sales+downloads+streaming) to RIAA and they'll audit those numbers then give you the cert. The RIAA recommend to use your own numbers from your database not Soundscan since it would probably more cover all the sales or they called it "consumption" these days. No official certifications for the spice girls since 99, that means no one cares to apply for the certs. But from what we know from Soundscan, the Spice album probably still around 7+ million, I guess we have to wait for the movie to boost up their streaming numbers/sales over there and worldwide, if the movie gets well-received by the audience of course. However, at least Wannabe should be updated to 3xP already. SYBT and 2B1 probably already hit one million as well.
  16. That wasn't her best performance, was it?
  17. It's only $350 per cert. I don't think those amount would hurt the label but yeah what's the point of paying money for the group who's no longer active. I assume the girls themselves don't have the sale figures though. They're probably in Virgin's database.
  18. It is label's job to apply for the certs. Looks like they couldn't be bothered. Happy New Year! :yahoo:
  19. Of course it's Viva Forever. Goodbye and SYBT deserved better though.
  20. If there is no DVD then put it on Youtube, Baby.
  21. Saw some videos, she's such an angel still. A duet album with veteran and current young artists would be heaven for me, that angelic voice pretty much can suit with everyone. Is there gonna be a commercial release for this concert?
  22. Thank you, love it. So glad these days people appreciate her more and more, a legend she is. Hearing that they've always wanted to do something different, to be the first to do it, makes me really happy, that's true, no wonder why they're one of a kind, there'll be no other girl group like them. Can't wait for the movie. Melanie should try more actings too, she can act as well. :heart-old:
  23. Right, that's why. She's still selling okay though considering barely active as a solo artist and suddenly showing up in a very short period of time. You can't only rely on spice buzz and a cover album to sell out 5,500 capacity hall after long years break, you need to work more for it, so selling like 70-80% is still a success I think.
  24. Over 800 people are queueing up to buy tickets all of the sudden.
  25. They'll be irrelevant soon as a product of not commit to anything as a group.
