Friday Chart Predictions
James outselling Madness as well. Given Madness had a similar compilation out in 2017 I guess it isn’t a surprise. Both these bands had their first studio album No 1s last two years and I’d be interested to see what their total sales are to compare. Especially are either album near Silver?

Friday Chart Predictions
Another from Madness just 4 years after their last. As they’ve achieved their only No 1 studio album since then (Theatre of Absurd - C’est La Vie, I’d be interested in seeing how its sales have progressed.

It did go Gold in the UK though. So people obviously listen to it. Plus his follow up album spent 28 weeks in the Top 100 which is no mean feat for a non-legacy album

Friday Chart Predictions
Madness no 26 midweek album after Enhanced Edition released. Will end really low down. Interesting to see its total sales to date if that can shared on Friday. Despite being their only No 1 studio album, it ranks as one of their longest to hit Silver sales and may well never do so. Very much a sign of the times sadly as I always have valued the physical product yet am as guilty as anyone to settle for streaming.

Friday Chart Predictions
With 31 tracks of the digital version of Taylor’s album, I wonder whether it means average streams per track will be fewer than for other albums and so bring down her overall sale equivalents in the long run? Certainly her version of 1989 had a higher proportion of steams than this week’s release. Then again this is a brand new set of tracks so might be more likely to attract physical sales, esp in Week 1

Friday Chart Predictions
Unless Madness is so far ahead Taylor fans should ensure her streams and purchases get No 1. But it’s a moral victory for Madness. Don’t care about the anti-male act thing. They’ve been a part of British culture and a big part of my life and they’ deserve a No 1 album. Doesn’t detract from what Taylor has achieved which is incredible. So I prefer the underdog here.

Friday Chart Predictions
As a Madness fan I’d be interested to see total sales of the 3 previous albums released. Especially how near to Gold the last one is - Can’t Touch Us Now. If Taylor makes 15,000 units then I think Madness or Dolly might just stay ahead but you never know with Taylor Swift as those streams by the million can fluctuate. Should be interesting and to be honest I don’t think Taylor’s got a great deal to worry about if she misses one week.

Friday Chart Predictions
Come on MADNESS. You deserve your first studio album Number 1! In truth Dolly deserves her first in the UK as well. But I’ve not followed her music for over 40 years.

Most weeks at each *peak* position in the UK singles chart
This thread got me thinking about Mr Brightside by The Killers. I think you’ll find it’s spent most weeks in every position lower than about 75. Not had time to check by over 10 weeks at No 100. Will try and let you know each position when I’ve a moment to kill(ers)!

Most weeks at each *peak* position in the UK singles chart
I think it would be good to include both consecutive and non consecutive for higher positions. I believe both Mariah Carey All I want for Xmas is you and Wham! Last Christmas have spent 9 weeks in total at number 2. In fact with Mariah heading for no 1 this week and Wham! at 2 it looks the latter should be the first to spend 10 weeks at number 2.

Friday Chart Predictions
Come on The Specials!! Never saw that coming especially after Busted outsold them over the weekend. I would love them to hold onto their lead as they were literally one of my very favourite bands in my teens. It would need word to get round and more fans to buy on Thursday because TGS is on track still for No 1 going by past weeks.

Friday Chart Predictions
Assuming 'Three Lions' falls further from its position of #83, would this be the first time in history that the No. 1 single has dropped outside the Top 100. I know Last Christmas dropped from No. 1 to nowhere at the start of the year but don't think it's ever happened to a No. 1

PRETTYMUCH a Thread
Has Simon Cowell lost that instinctive ability of knowing exactly what the next pop wave will be? I think PRETTYMUCH are credible performers but quite clearly the most disatrous chart performance for a band allowed the exposure of X factor. Around 6,000 sales for this week. Then Rak-Su have failed to make No.1 and only 28,000 sales for a charity record and being outsold by Wham! and Mariah Carey. There's no doubt that Little Mix and One Direction are/were global successes but they both go back a few years now.
