Spotify Monthly Chart Thread [08/17]
Female pop does OK-ish in Spotify. It's at Apple Music where it's doomed.

Who'll still be relevant in ten years time?
Regarding those: Mika is not relevant in the UK in the slightest but he has done much better than Leona since he is still a big act in a few major markets (France, Italy). Take That are now basically a touring act. Obviously still earning a lot but a HUGE drop from their 2007-2011 peak. Amy Winehouse made Mark Ronson a millionaire for life tbh (and he is from a millionaire family either way) but yea, "Uptown Funk" is unbeatable. Regarding the original question: Ed Sheeran won't have huge hits but will still be relevant and doing big tours. Adele probably won't have huge songs either because let's be real, she basically releases the same song over and over and 10 years is enough for that to get stale but she has broke every single record/prediction so who knows... although she'll also still be a big act regardless of how big her songs are. I have no clue about Sheeran or Drake to be honest.

Spotify Monthly Chart Thread [06/17]
I think it'd be nice if we had one post for streaming in general, with both Spotify and Apple Music. I am just a lurker though so I obviously understand if the users who actually post the charts here daily disagree with my idea.

London fire charity single | thread
Yeah. iTunes sales are irrelevant in 99% of those countries. A Sweden iTunes #1 probably sell less than 100 units.

London fire charity single | thread
It's a charity single so obviously I don't want it to flop but this just seems like such a lame, no effort attempt. I don't know, I feel like the victims deserve to be honored in a better way than a single Simon Cowell threw together in 3 seconds and will probably sound cheap af. Anyway, I think people will see right through it and the single won't perform well at all but I hope it makes enough $$$ and I hope all those acts also actually donate some of their money.

Spotify Monthly Chart Thread [05/17]
It is bizarre how different this song is being received at Spotify compared to its Apple Music success. I mean, Apple Music leans urban so I can totally get why J HUS is smashing there compared to his Spotify numbers but Jonas Blue is EDM so idk.... Miley is doing pretty well in the UK and even better in the US.

Yes, agreed. No way he'll make it to the top. Neither he nor Louis with his second single.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 28th April 2017
Nope. All his recent random features have been huge hits. His name alone is definitely enough nowadays.

Spotify Monthly Chart Thread [04/17]
I doubt labels pay anything to Spotify. Labels are all Spotify co-owners and their playlist are probably done in a way that appease label bosses.

Spotify Monthly Chart Thread [03/17]
He already broke Latin America and Spain though. Releasing reggaeton remix is a normal thing nowadays though. Cheap Thrills, Sorry, Cold Water and Lean On all had it.

Should the Album Streaming Chart Rules Be Changed?
No. Most of those arbitrary rules make no sense. Plus, I don't think it would be possible to determine which tracks are listened as part of an album tbqh.

Spotify Monthly Chart Thread [02/17]
She did not. Despite what the Spotify press release said, Adele's 1st week numbers were bigger (even though Spotify was smaller and present in less countries back then).

Artists that can debut top 10
Idg all those "x with the correct song" lol. Surely a lot of acts can debut top 10 with the right song? Like, even some who are not A-list. For lead singles right now I'd say Drake, Eminem (yes, still), Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Beyoncé (with a proper release), Little Mix, Adele.......... and I think those are it tbh. Maybe Justin Timberlake too. I don't think Jess Glynne and Sam Smith are an automatic top 10 debut. Look at what happened to Jessie J and Rita Ora (who had a lot of release pop buzz like Jess) or Emeli Sande and Duffy (who had a first album trajectory similar to Sam Smith). Or even with Katy Perry, who everyone thought was a shoo-in. Cheryl Cole wouldn't even go top 20 in the streaming age. She had super front-loaded #1 songs which I don't think translate to a top 10 debut nowadays.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 9th December 2016
There are some indications she will carve in eventually. The first one is that Universal's big boss has made clear no act can have exclusives and she is distributed worldwide by Universal. Of course, she is so huge I am pretty sure she can still be an exception but the fact there'll be so much pressure from her WW distributor to make it available on the platform might work. It definitely worked with Drake. Also, she is a worldwide act but she can still gets even bigger in a lot of regions around the globe. She hasn't even done a proper arena tour across Europe yet and she is big in Latin America but can get even bigger. Spotify exposure is a must in those continents. So there ya go.... I mean, of course she is huge enough to shun Spotify and still be successful. Beyoncé does it. But, at the long run, it wouldn't really benefit her and her and her team are usually very business-minded and micromanage every detail.

The X Factor 2016 · Guest Performances + Chart Boosts
I don't think any 1D boy will be on the show. Harry Styles definitely does not need it and I am pretty sure he want to distance himself from 1D and the sinking ship that is TXF with his huge Hollywood movie coming and all. Liam and Niall are not on good terms with Cowell. I couldn't imagine Zayn in it either but he is still somewhat associated with SYCO (it was part of his deal to leave the band) so maybe.... All 1D boys, except for Louis, are obviously desperate to cut their SYCO/1D ties and appearing on TXF makes absolutely no sense for them marketing-wise. Plus, their first solo single will have huge buzz either way so it's not like they'd need The X Factor exposure. I can imagine Emeli, Louisa, Little Mix, 5H, James Arthur and Olly. Also, Global acts to ensure Capital FM support to SYCO acts. I doubt acts such as Drake (who literally never performs on TV, much less on cheesy TV shows such as TXF) will be on the show but hot newcomers (i.e.: Shawn Mendes; Zara Larsson) are a given imo. I am pretty sure this had more to do with Bieber not wanting to do the show due to scheduling reasons than Simon wanting to ensure a 1D #1. He would never pass up a performance by such an A-list act. Plus, as someone mentioned, he had huge acts with similar release dates several times (notably, Little Mix and Ellie Goulding).

Will Adele's '25' eventually outsell '21'?
No. Neither in the UK nor worldwide.

When will the Spotify boom happen?
Being fair, Apple Music was on its second week back then. It probably has a bigger market share now, although I'm sticking with Spotify. And regarding Coldplay, they are against free streaming on the first few weeks. They made it available to premium streaming services but not Spotify because they denied their request to make it available only for Premium users.

The X Factor - Guest Performers 2015
It's not like she needs it. Her being at the X Factor final would be her doing a favor for Cowell & co, not the other way around.

The X Factor - Guest Performers 2015
They will be on Stricly.

The X Factor - Guest Performers 2015
You cannot be serious with that dumbass logic of yours. Anyway, I doubt Justin Bieber will be on this week. He'll be in the US promoting his album hardcore and if he had pre-taped his performance we'd probably have heard something by now. And I don't know about 1D either.... Surely, if they were on this week they'd had announced it already since they have a huge fanbase and it'd be a very good opportunity to cause some buzz (which the X Factor really needs). So yeah, I find it unlikely they'll be on this week, but who knows. I agree Jess Glynne is the safest and most logical bet.

The X Factor - Guest Performers 2015
LOL stop being obtuse. Madonna and Mariah Carey are legendary acts (as is Paul McCartney; Celine Dion, etc). Cee-Lo Green is not. He ihad a few huge hits a few years ago but now is a nobody who is persona nongrata in most US media due to the fact he is a rapist. Hardly comparable.
-
The X Factor - Guest Performers 2015
Cee-Lo? I mean, ratings are dropping but they could at least try and have A-list acts. At least Fleur isn't a rapist.

Straw poll - Adele v One Direction
I can easily bet Adele will exceed 200k copies in the first week.
-
Straw poll - Adele v One Direction
LOL what? Adele is OBVIOUSLY getting the #1. 1D have no chance against her. And people thinking 500k for Adele is "widely optimistic" are seriously underestimating her. In any case, 1D album is out on Nov 14th. Same day as Bieber. The week after Adele's album will be out. Confirmed by Billboard and HDD.

The X Factor 2014 · Guest Performances + Chart Boosts
I thought chances would be slim for Taylor Swift cause she has some gigs on the weekend in NYC but her fansites are saying she'll be in London on Sunday for the final.
