  1. Thank you for everyone who has commented on my chart, interesting to see what everyone is liking!!!! If anyone has anything to add than please feel free!!!!
  2. There we have, another chart is done and dusted and we have a brand new number one single from Alesha Dixon, but can she make it 2 weeks at number one or will one of the other records int he chart replace her at the top???? As of Thursday 26th February, my chart will go fortnightly, which will mean faster drops and significant amounts of fallers which will make it very hard to compile but I'm going to try it out and see what happens. To find out what happens, tune in next Thursday from 10am and you will find a brand new chart. As ever, if you have any comments or opinions, please feel free to add anything and I will read and reply to as many as possible!!!! So until next week... :cheer:

  4. Hello and welcome to a brand new week and a brand new chart!!!! In case you missed it last week, please check out my top 40 singles and top 15 albums chart of 2008, just click on the link below and have a look :D : http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87646 Back to this week's countdown, and this week there are 5 brand new entries (of which 3 are random and peculiar records!!!!) and there is 1 re-entry. There are climbers, fallers and non-movers. But can Franz Ferdinand make it 2 weeks at the top of the chart or will there be a brand new number one???? Let' get into the chart and the first of this week's brand new entries...
  5. I bought the album after Edith Bowman played Farewell To The Fairground, the next single, and I remember thinking when I heard the album in full that this has got to get a Mercury nomination I cant believe it got to number one, slightly disappointed by its placing at the moment, but it was to be expected To anyone who is unsure yet about buying the album, than get it, it is amazing
  6. And I have just heard that there is going to be an unnofficial Comic Relief record from........................ Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey) covering this 'classic' 9G93YJv8DT0 I have got to hear this one!!!!!
  7. From the official website The Saturdays sing for Comic Relief We can now exclusively announce that Rochelle, Frankie, Una, Vanessa and Mollie have been asked to record this year’s Comic Relief single. The girls have only been together a year and already they are set to follow in the high-heeled shoes of other girlband royalty, such as Girls Aloud, Sugababes and The Spice Girls. They have recorded the main single for 2009’s campaign and have chose a massive track to cover – Depeche Mode’s electro-pop classic ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’. ‘I am so so excited that we have been asked to do the Comic Relief song,’ says Mollie. ‘It’s such a big compliment and it’s so nice to be helping such a good cause. I’ve always dreamt of doing something like this from being a little girl! I remember watching the Spice Girls’ song ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ and now it’s us! I cannot wait!’ Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day is on Friday 13th March and the theme this year is ‘Do Something Funny for Money’. By raising money for Red Nose Day, people can help to change lives forever. That’s because Comic Relief spends all the money raised to give extremely vulnerable, poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa a helping hand to turn their lives around. The single will be released 2nd March with Comic Relief itself taking place on 13th March. So, what do you think, I hope its a good song but given the first two singles were quite electro-pop but I think it could be very promising. I'm guessing the single and video should premier quite soon, around 16th February I would have thought, but as for chart position, who knows, I don't think it could be guessed until we hear the track!!!! What do you think???
  8. So there you have it, all 40 singles and all 15 albums of 2008!!!!! Please leave me with any comments you may have about the chart, what you liked, what you didn't, anyhting would be very much appreciated. That's it from me, hopefully you have enjoyed a look back at the last 12 months, maybe some memories in there for you. I'll be back next Thursday with week 5 of 2009 in my top 40 weekly singles chart, all I will do is leave you with videos from artists who will be doing the same battle for the top spot in next year's end of year countdown Alesha Dixon - Breathe Slow 0znEH8lbOw0 White Lies - To Lose My Life 2KRRSRyhjSE :cheer:
  9. 1 - Christian Falk featuring Robyn and Ola Salo - Dream On Where do I start with this record...well for one it deserved so much better than the chart position it got and was criminally ignored despite relatively decent promotion but in the Christmas market it was to be expected but this is now a record breaker for Robyn, she is now the first artist to have a number one record on my chart for two consecutive years, there could only have been one number one and I hope you enjoy it!! Official Chart Position: 29 Dave's Chart Position: 1 ypQtJ8z6q5o
  10. 40 - The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name 39 - Hot Chip - Ready For The Floor 38 - Sugababes - Girls 37 - Estelle featuring Kanye West - American Boy 36 - Infadels - Make Mistakes 35 - Wideboys featuring Shaznay Lewis - Daddy O 34 - Goldfrapp - Happiness 33 - Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah 32 - Mutya Beuna featuring Amy Winehouse - B Boy Baby 31 - Sonny J - Can't Stop Movin' (Mirwais Remix) 30 - P!nk - So What 29 - Cyndi Lauper - Into The Nightlife 28 - Madonna - Give It 2 Me 27 - M.I.A - Paper Planes 26 - Bryn Christopher - Smilin' 25 - Glasvegas - Daddy's Gone 24 - Lupe Fiasco featuring Matthew Santos - Superstar 23 - Sonny J - Handsfree (If You Hold My Hand) 22 - The Killers - Human 21 - Sugababes - Denial 20 - Sam Sparro - Black And Gold 19 - The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age Of The Understatement 18 - James Morrison featuring Nelly Furtado - Broken Strings 17 - Adele - Chasing Pavements 16 - Geraldine McQueen - The Winner's Song 15 - Tom Jones - If He Should Ever Leave You 14 - Mint Royale - Singin' In The Rain 13 - Dizzee Rascal featuring Calvin Harris and Chrome - Dance Wiv Me 12 - Goldfrapp - A & E 11 - The Sparks - This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us 10 - Chase and Status featuring Plan B - Pieces 9 - Adele - Hometown Glory 8 - Mark Brown featuring Sarah Cracknell - The Journey Continues 7 - Elbow - One Day Like This 6 - Guru Josh Project - Infinity 2008 5 - Alesha Dixon - The Boy Does Nothing 4 - Chicane featuring Natasha Bedingfield - Bruised Water 3 - Glasvegas - Geraldine 2 - Leona Lewis - Run
  11. 2 - Leona Lewis - Run It may have been released by Snow Patrol back in 2004 but it was Leona's amazing Live Lounge cover that captured the heart's of the nation, as it became the fastest selling download ever, shifting over 100k in its first week. At least its a little extra pocket money for Gary and co, though let's hope the cover curse doesn't hit them like The Zutons!!!! Official Chart Position: 1 Dave's Chart Position: 1 g5ZQJoxae4o
  12. Oh, by the way, the full recap of the top 40 is coming up (trying to prolong the tension a little bit!!!!)
  13. It's the moment you have been waiting for, here is my top 2 and this is the record in runners up spot this year...........
  14. 3 - Glasvegas - Geraldine Quite possibly the best new band of 2008, the debut album secured a top 2 place both officially and on my chart as revealed this morning. This song gets me all the time and gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it, this is a special band and they deserve a successful 2009!!!! Official Chart Position: 16 Dave's Chart Position: 2 ii6vQk4snSc
  15. Top 3 time, have you any idea who is number one yet????
  16. 4 - Chicane featuring Natasha Bedingfield - Bruised Water This a big record for me over the summer and some of the lyrics still hold quite personal memories but this was a record that I hadn't planned on being a number one. It mixes a 1999 Ibiza classic with a 2004 release from Natasha to produce one of the best dance tracks of the year, just a shame no-one at Radio 1 wanted to back it... Official Chart Position: 42 Dave's Chart Position: 1 3kicvXDzirE
  17. 5 - Alesha Dixon - The Boy Does Nothing Winner of Strictly Come Dancing in 2007, Alesha Dixon made her top 5 debut with this brilliant record and looks likely to secure a new peak with her debut album and the new single 'Breathe Slow' is heading for the top 10!!!! Official Chart Position: 5 Dave's Chart Position: 1 Mu9LTIgTuXU
  18. Five records left to play then and what is number one????? Let's get on with it, and next at 5, he does nothing, no really he does nothing..........
  19. 6 - Guru Josh Project - Infinity 2008 First released in 1990, this record got to number 5. Fast forward 18 years and we have one of the biggest dance records of the year and peaked at number on downloads alone in October 2008. Official Chart Position: 3 Dave's Chart Position: 1 w9KnuJZkBjg
  20. 7 - Elbow - One Day Like This From the Mercury Award winning album 'The Seldom Seen Kid', this was Elbow's second single release which deserved more than charting at 39 and 35 upon its two entries in the chart. But it is their first ever entry on my singles chart so that should cheer them up a little bit!!!! Official Chart Position: 35 Dave's Chart Position: 2 EG0MrX3Qjcs
  21. The next single at number 7 was taken from an album that won an award previously given to the likes of Klaxons, Arctic Monkeys and M People (!!) Can you guess who it is yet????
  22. 8 - Mark Brown featuring Sarah Cracknell - The Journey Continues Yes, it is THAT song from the Lloyds TSB advert and was a massive record on my chart, spending a total of 8 weeks at number one, a total still to be bettered. Another record it set, but has since been matched, was its climb to number one, when the track climbed 20 to 1 in my second chart of 2008. Recieved massive Radio 1 support from Pete Tong, Scott Mills and Jo Whiley and featured haunting vocals from the Saint Etienne lead singer. Official Chart Position: 11 Dave's Chart Position: 1 yNLEXej-wTI
  23. If you missed any of today's chart the recap will follow ahead of the reveal of my number so don't go anywhere. On with the top 10 and at 8, all I can say is the journey is almost at an end, well nearly......
  24. 9 - Adele - Hometown Glory This was the record that launched Adele Atkins into the public's consciousness. Adele scored 4 top 40 hits from the debut album '19' and also started 2008 in style by bagging herself the Critic's Choice BRIT award. This track was first released as a limited edition vinyl before getting a full re-release in the summer of 2008, and got its well deserved top 20 placing. Official Chart Position: 19 Dave's Chart Position: 2 jXG0YMv5Fvk
  25. Let's find out what is at number 9, how I miss my hometown......
