There is a Facebook campaign, but the main reason for this boost is the promo and exposure everywhere.

If the material is good, she will get a deal. If it's not up to scratch, why would anyone want an album?

They've already shifted enough albums - so don't need any more singles to sell it. I also suspect that they want the record for most consectutive #1s - and a 4th single would be pushing their luck on that front. I doubt the 2nd album will be too far away, though.

As has already been mentioned, Cheryl gained lots of support in the polls. She will never be more popular than Lady Gaga in a real music community, but still has people infatuated with her sprinkled everywhere - hence why she came second to Gaga in numerous catergories. Leona's award is scarily accurate

There are thousands of JLS fans willing to buy another copy of 'One Shot' when it is released, and when they do so much promo that they are everywhere, there will be many more thousands who buy it because they can't get it out of their head. Next week's #1, Sidney Samson or Iyaz, will probably hold on for a few weeks, meaning 'Broken Heels' will probably peak Top 3 rather than at #1.

New singles by big artists are anticipated very early, usually, regardless of airplay, videos and promo. Alexandra probably was lower, but 'Broken Heels' isn't going to #1, and 'One Shot' is. JLS don't really need casual fans though, they have enough hardcore followers.

'One Shot' is surprisingly low. Suggests they don't have too many casual fans.

I was saying that yesterday. It depends what mood you're in. I feel she is either incredible, or truly terrible.

    No chance.

Radio 1 playing them during NYE show, Hootenanny and general New Year's Parties.

There are a lot of acts aiming for the #1 album in the next few weeks ;)
  13. Agreed. I think 'Echo' is a good starting point, but a killer third single could really raise their profile and sell their album - which I think will be quite solid. The online aspects of their campaign have been handled very well, I hope, for their sake, that trend continues into their promo for 'Echo'.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but The Saturdays need to sell some albums, and fast. If 'Ego' were to reach #1, and the album didn't get any boost at all - The Saturdays wouldn't suddenly be OK. 'Ego' needs to go Top 10, and get the album back in the Top 75 or Top 50. The peak of the third single is basically irrelevant, but it needs to push the album back into the Top 40 and take it Gold at the very least. If this doesn't happen, they will either be dropped, or the budget for the next album will be slashed and they will become even more about singles than they already are. At least if they were dropped, Vanessa could fulfil her potential... not sure what Mollie could do, though :kink:

Florence's boost is as a direct result of Hootenanny. She was very good.

Justin Bieber's early YouTube videos blew me away. He is very talented. 'One Time' is an incredibly generic, throwaway pop song though.

 I honestly couldn't cope with Justin Bieber and JLS mania. I hate the S.S. song, but I don't really care if it gets to #1.

I think Justin or Iyaz will do it this week, and then Iyaz will be #1 for ages. Oh dear, The Saturdays
  19. It has also been confirmed that tracks called 'Alone' and 'Happy Alone' will be on the album. Although I'm sure they will change one of those names upon release!

The staying power of 'I Gotta Feeling' will not be replicated for years. Unreal.

Thanks for sending me the link, FM :) I don't think this non-retail rip is too bad. I was so excited for this album, but some of my favourites have been left off. It is really solid, but much of it is second rate 'TiK ToK'. 'Stephen', 'Your Love Is My Drug' and 'Backstabber' are clearly the best tracks. The start of 'Stephen' is auto-tuned to death - but it adds to the charm. 'While You Were Sleeping' should have been on this album. There is no question, though, I will buy this the day it comes out!
  22. It could definitely work. They will need to decide which market she is after - kids and tweens, or teens and young adults. There doesn't really seem to be any direction at the moment. That only sells records if an artist has incredibly catchy and commercial songs (e.g. Ke$ha). I think she will be the equivalent of the girl from N-Dubz if she went solo. I don't think she will have the success of Pixie, though, if Mercury keep that campaign up all year.

My guilty pleasure. This song is amazing. Approximately fifty thousand times better than the first two singles combined.
  24. Sounds fresh and fun, but not overly original. Perfect for a Spring release, so I won't be surprised if it is pushed back. Who is her A&R? If handled well, she will be huge.

Jonathan Ross tweeted to one of her fans that she is on his show in 2010! Not sure when, though. Her album sales have been really strong recently, so she deserves Top 5!
