It really annoys me when people say things like 'She sold her soul'! So by evolving as an artist...which is what she is by the way...an artist...your saying she's sold her soul? No the reality is...if she had continued to wear long black dresses and sing ballads like Celine Dion, her career would have been over many moons ago. She has even admitted that she was not "Herself" in the early days. Sony marketed her as an all white american woman with a fairytale story when the reality is she was from a broken bi-racial family. She was basically like a puppet on a string in those early days being forced to sing ballads. The first album and maybe my best album was 'Daydream'. It was still ballads but you could see Mariah starting to come out of her shell by working with people like ODB and then of course the wonderfull 'Butterfly' album.
