Welcome to the Animalian ancient heritage site of the Dragons Arena, despite it's name, no dragons have been found here and remain an enticing myth for tourists, but our Komodo team still offer the fiercest fighting of any reptilian kind. Here is one of the two main arenas that Terra Reptilia and Amphibian will be presenting the semi-final results of BJSC 170. All but one of our competitors (Sandenia) crept up to vote and through harsh battle, we have our 20 qualifiers, but it was a hell of a fight. That's all I'll reveal for now, but be prepared for some surprises, starting imminently x

The production is actually quite good, had that been used and some new names, it could've actually worked. The rest of it though, Jesus Christ...it feels like a mishmash that wasn't fully finished, the repeated lines and disjointed structure doesn't work, the power's been taken out of the most iconic lines, the rousing final chorus has been stripped down and has Dizzee's rap shoehorned in as well as the news reader which is a bit of a mask-off moment and a very cynical way to end the record. All of it just emphasises what I already thought - that it's a hollow 'tradition' turned ego trip with less creativity put in it with each passing edition, seriously they might as well have just re-released the original if they must do something. I'm still not convinced it will make number 1, the reaction's been pretty negative from all corners.

Excellent winner, I haven't found Dua's new material that inspiring sadly, but that's still her at her peak. Would've been my equal preferred pick to win with Everything I Wanted and Blinding Lights, and I'm pleased following Midnight Sky and Blinding Lights, that all the 80s throwback smashes have had their turn at the top now *.* I do like No Tears Left to Cry as well, but I'd have swapped that and Into You's positions. Everything I Wanted is by far my favourite in the top 10 and I hope it can win one of these soon, slowly getting there x Thanks once again for the great effort that goes into this!

Yeah, that is pretty much all my main favourites out oops, I guess there's a glass ceiling to these indie songs and that is still a great position for Metric & Wolf Alice :heart: (wonder what happened last year with that?) I do still enjoy all of the top 10 though, Faded's huge love here did seem a bit Buzzjack-unique but it's one of my favourites as well so I always loved it, shame to see it fall back a bit x
