☢ BJSC 169 ☢ DECOMPOSITION
Well I can't think of any other hugely important event to await other then whether I'm able to win, bring it on :o (I don't think I will for the record, think this is a very alt-heavy final so got to be a pop winner, my money's still on Aeroche)

US Hot 100 #1s: Best & Worst / Week 6
Best America - A Horse With No Name Carly Simon - You're So Vain Don McLean - American Pie Stevie Wonder - Superstition The Temptations - Papa Was A Rollin' Stone Frankenstein and The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia were also good discoveries x Worst Donny Osmond - Go Away Little Girl Michael Jackson - Ben Melanie - Brand New Key Feels a bit harsh to Brand New Key compared to the other two, but those vocals were really painful at points.

Round 1: Year End Survivor #99
Eminem a very easy first bin, pretty good list otherwise!

2024 United States Presidential Election Thread
Even if the Iowa poll is within margin of error, that was a State he won comfortably in 2020 and the fact there's doubts in what should be an easy win for him doesn't look good for the trends in the swing states at all. That's the first bit of optimism I've felt in a while, although still cautiously so. I'm worried about the aftermath either way, while I'm sure there'll be preparation he won't accept a loss, he wasn't exactly punished for it last time so who knows what he or his supporters could do :/

Kemi Badenoch wins the vote and is leader of the Conservative Party. Lots of culture war nonsense to look forward to, yayyy :nocheer:

The Official Labour Calmer Steering Thread (mk III)
The overdramatics from this budget from the media is quite something, I'd be interested to compare it to the last Tory budget (bar the disastrous Truss one)

Mango's Chart Quiz: SONG PICTIONARY 2: THE RESULTS
Meet Me Halfway took me ages for some reason, I think it was the whole uncanny valley vibe of it, took me a while to click they were peas! Lulu was genius though, quite surprised that got so many given it's not a universally used term, but I suppose it couldn't have been anything else! Hooray at getting the bonus points, just about keeping me top half, you're all too good at this x Congrats to Dandy & jim on a full house and thanks Mango for another fun round of these B-)

The Official Labour Calmer Steering Thread (mk III)
In general, a pretty decent budget (though I'm certain the Telegraph/Tabloid rags will declare it's the worst ever), was very pleased to hear about the amount going into SEN and education in particular. The lack of investment in public transport is more of a shame.

Mango's Chart Quiz: SONG PICTIONARY 2: THE RESULTS
I had Style in mind for Taylor Swift, thankfully remembered there was another item of clothing she had a song about x Chemical Brothers took me forever, especially as it looked like they were talking to each other and the boy and the girl were in the background!

Mango's Chart Quiz: SONG PICTIONARY 2: THE RESULTS
Well thank you for being generous! That's where my lack of current chart knowledge comes in x (and didn't think of Steps either, although I did wonder why All Rise didn't have court representation). There goes one of my bonus answers as I was misled into Buzzjack logic for a wrong answer :drama:

Mango's Chart Quiz: SONG PICTIONARY 2: THE RESULTS
So that's what #6 was, blast x Was confused by the birds and I kept focusing on songs with 'Well' in it. Oh Well was my best guess cos the person was wearing a Mac.

Mango's Chart Quiz: SONG PICTIONARY 2: THE RESULTS
I was slightly unsure with Q2 because of the forest animals (Fox on the Run by The Sweet was a consideration), pleased they didn't seem relevant in the end x

Do you ever wonder if the predictions are influential?
I tried myself to send a song that sounded like a qualifier just two years ago on the brink of a DNQ streak and it failed, it's not a recipe for success. You can really never predict BJSC, there's so many genres that get sent and the semis are distributed randomly. There's no magic bullet, it really is best to just send what you love and see what happens. I can't really add anything to what's already been said in this thread, ultimately this is all a bit of a fun, I know very well how frustrating it is to DNQ and have a long streak, but the new music has kept me invested. If that's not a pull and if it is causing genuine upset or stress to anyone, then it is absolutely acceptable to take a step back.

☢ BJSC 169 ☢ STABILISATION
Well very happy for Cumulonimbia, but aww for Jade </3 didn't think that sounded like a DNQ, admittedly I would've liked it to be a bit longer. DNQ votes: 04 ☢ Jadakissnia ☢ moonvampire - cigarette burns 03 ☢ Tartford ☢ Gemma Ray - Fire House 02 ☢ Suedeonia ☢ Lightheaded - Mercury Girl Hopefully Semi Sue has some goods to replace that (I know it has one that has got through <3) (Hosting great as ever, leww x)

☢ BJSC 169 ☢ STABILISATION
Was getting a little worried there, darn you random.org x Thanks all <3 Oh dear though, I'm definitely going to lose one of my votes with the last two :(

The Middle East Today
That genuinely made me gasp in horror, what a truly inhumane act, and yet this genocide continues to get a light shaking of the head by most of the world's powers, dark times.

☢ BJSC 169 ☢ STABILISATION
Aww, Tartford and Suedeonia deserved more, both had a quietly epic sound.

👻HALLOWEEN V: GO TO HELL
Congrats to MUMMYHub/Callum! That was a great discovery and as much as I love Psycho Killer (and CHVRCHES, although admittedly not a big highlight from them), it is good to see a less well known song win. East Ruk, Aeroche and Scotland 2 were some of most unsettling pieces of music/hellspawn I've heard in a while and great to see them all in the top 10, the former has made me very intrigued to check out the parent album as it's not the sort of sound I was expecting based on past songs! Just about sneaking a top half, I'll take it *.* Guess I just got a very unfortunate order of reveal, thanks to all who voted. I will admit I was completely upstaged with the unsettling entries, but I still wanted to send this alongside See You Again this year as he seems quite a talented and experimental producer, with very little attention sadly (and admittedly some super creepy AI visuals x). Danaeviia definitely shouldn't be that low as my 8 pointer and that bottom 3 is very undeserved too :'( Another great edition of these, thanks to Vampirasma for the exceptional, spooky hosting B-)

👻HALLOWEEN V: GO TO HELL
Oops, well this is comfortably going to be my lowest performing entry in this spin-off, although at least it's not flopping as bad now x ULTRA SUNN, Ethel Cain and Lingua Ignota were fantastic discoveries so would love one of those to win!
