Year end survivor repeat songs poll
Exclude for me, there's been too many repeat winners recently, and when they're established Buzzjack faves, it makes the polls boring and stops new, inspired winners (See Call the Shots preventing Supermassive Black Hole).

Round 1: Year End Survivor #96
Think my favourites here are all repeats unfortunately x Lee Ryan first.

Round 4: Year End Survivor #95
Now all the obvious Buzzjack villains are out, that garbage Cascada cover needs to go x

⚙ Taahino CLXVIII : The Final Reading
Ooft I can't help but notice even with a great finish, I was just a single point off getting 4th and being at every position in the top 10 :drama: First world problems and all that, nonetheless 5th is excellent and my first time in the top 5 in over a year, I didn't quite expect it, I initially went for Scorpio by the same artist, I was worried this one may be a bit too subtle, but I'm really pleased it's beautiful hypnotic nature impacted others too, many thanks all for the very generous points haul <3 Oh my as well at a semi win! I mean it was a dream draw, that's only ever happened when I was in the top 2 x And I can't ask for better than my 18 winning, fully deserved, a beautifully cinematic masterpiece from a wonderful artist  Congrats to Leww! Jadakissnia and Fljotavik also made my votes and Taahino was 16th so can't complain at all really, hooray for results that match my tastes for a change (you pop vultures can have it back next month, allow us this once xx) While the overall quality wasn't as high as other contests this year, I have saved my top 3 as they were all fantastic discoveries, great to see Lookylion do so well with such an unconventional song, would've liked Danaeviia to be a bit higher, as well as a fair few of that bottom 10. FARC didn't deserve last by that much either. Thanks for the efficient hosting, Lindsey, the quickest final results I can remember!

⚙ Taahino CLXVIII : The Final Reading
Well this is looking wonderful both in terms of what's winning and my own performance! Praying that it stays for the last five votes x

Linkin Park - Heavy Is the Crown
Yet another great one from them, I agree, it sounds a lot like Faint. However dodgy the background of the new lead singer is, they've not sounded this revitalised in a long time.

The Rolling Stones Rate
How wonderful to see She's a Rainbow as high as 5th  It's such a standout track, so wonderfully colourful and eclectic in it's production and a gorgeous piano melody, I know their psychedelic sound didn't really work out overall, but that is a forgotten gem. I can't argue with any of that top 7, in fact they almost exactly resemble my final votes, Paint It, Black was my runner up and has a wonderful ominous sound so a very deserving winner, and Satisfaction and Sympathy... have some iconic riffs. In general, their discography's a bit too samey for my liking, but the highlights are big. Thanks for hosting, Ed!

👻HALLOWEEN V: YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED
Entered possibly the scariest thing I've seen all year (and not entirely due to the content...)

National Animals of the BJSC
It's quite hard to pinpoint one given we are a nation of birds, so we shall go with our fearless president since inception

The Last Dinner Party - Prelude to Ecstasy
Wow, that's really shocking, I hate how there's such a stigma around people doing so called 'social' activities by themselves. I know first hand that going to events by yourself can be a real salvation for people and can help with mental health difficulties, loneliness and social anxiety. Stereotyping them is at best, ignorant and at worst, harmful and damaging.

2024 US Election - Poll
I'll be optimistic and say Harris as I feel the momentum's with her, but I obviously wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way, Trump could literally kill a person and not lose his audience however static it is and sadly there are large swathes of the US (many of which in the swing states) that will just never vote for a vaguely progressive candidate. The one thing I think that's looking more promising is that Trump doesn't have the appeal as a new, anarchic option anymore and has plateaued, Harris has managed to avoid the scandals and history that Hillary had (spoken too soon there haven't I x)

Chart Forum Quiz Week 5: The Results
Oh wow, 15 for the boyband albums was a guess! I just averaged out at five each for them as I remember they all churned them out over a short span of time. I guess that sacrificed the last question but worth it x So annoyed to be one off for Ava/Katy as I wasn't certain that was anywhere near but to be one out :drama: The other ones were just straight guesses, apart from Beatles and Weeknd which I somehow pulled from my mind, I should've know there'd be some of you that would actually get them spot on x Thanks for hosting!

The Substance
Glad to see a thread for this, this was a hell of a good time and such a wild ride. So well made and performed. The music and montage sequences and calculated camerawork were excellently done and there's definitely more than a few callbacks to classic films like The Shining with the office shots and how the space in the apartment dwarfs the characters, the placement of that large billb Of course the performances were absolutely incredible, Demi Moore was wonderful and played into the satire very authentically ( ) I'm not sure the Oscars would touch a film like this, but she absolutely deserves one. Margaret Qualley was a great choice as well, although Dennis Quaid really stole the limited screentime he had, for a film with as much body horror as it had, he somehow managed to be the most repulsive part of it! It's themes/subtext weren't particularly original and delivered unsubtly, but it does remain very timely and the way it was delivered was so audacious and unique that it hardly mattered. Definitely lasted a little too long overall as the ending felt a bit drawn out and repetitive once the shock factor was over, but overall it was one of the most effective and memorable horror films I've seen recently. I missed this director's last film (Revenge) and this does make me want to check it out.

What's your most mainstream entry to date?
It is (just take a look at the framework), though it can be overturned if the song isn't very well known. IIRC It was brought in following the likes of Dolly Parton's Jolene and TLC's Creep being sent.

What's your most mainstream entry to date?
I've sent two UK top 40 hits, both some time after they were hits - Jaimeson's Complete (a UK #4 in 2003 sent in 2014, back before UK top 20s were auto-vetoed, not something I'd even think of these days) and Richard Hawley's Tonight The Streets Are Ours (UK #40 in 2006, sent in 2021, I've debated with forgotten top 40 hits but they're still a little too well known, this was the one gamble I wanted to take as I feel it deserved to be a lot better know than it is). I have sent two further top 75 hits from the 1990s, Mono's Life in Mono that reached #60 and Chapterhouse's Pearl that reached #67, the former being a bit better known than my usual fare by being covered by Emma Bunton *__ I did of course also send Bastille and WALK THE MOON, but those songs didn't actually chart despite high stream counts.

⚙ Taahino CLXVIII : Chariot Assembly
Pleased to be through, many thanks all! A great set of qualifiers, though I lost both bookends of my votes: 12 ⚙ Scotland 2 ⚙ Scott Walker & SUNN O))) - Fetish 01 ⚙ Eastovka ⚙ The Linda Lindas - Yo Me Estreso (feat. "Weird Al" Yankovic) Eastovka's was a very unique song even without the Weird Al quirk, wasn't one I expected through though sadly. On the other hand, I did expect Thelonia would qualify and I'm sad as it just missed my votes (and I heard it on 6Music literally the day after the listenthrough! Spooky x), though admittedly both artists have had better.

⚙ Taahino CLXVIII : Chariot Assembly
Oops there goes my 12 </3 I did think Scotland 2 was probably doomed, but it was the sort of daring and unconventional pairing I love seeing. Suedeonia was certainly fun, but no match for the Periodic Table x

⚙ Taahino CLXVIII : Chariot Assembly
It's not often I'm fairly confident, but this was just about the kindest draw I could've asked for sooo let's hope that's not misplaced! There was so many great songs in SF2, I really hope we don't lose any highlights.
