RESULTS: 5 Seconds of Summer - The Singles Rate
Jet Black Heart is an absolute epic of a ballad, it's definitely their All Too Well. Very few songs make me cry but this is one of them. Girls Talk Boys is underrated and and a hidden gem in their discography. It really was a turning point for them in that, in my opinion, it was their first mature pop song. Wildflower has that massive power pop chorus and I really like how 'light' it is compared to their usual output (would love them to go in this direction sonically in the future), but something is just missing for me - can't quite put my finger on it, maybe it needs Luke on vocals (sorry Calum). It really is a would-be perfect pop song, but it just falls short for me. Still one of the highlights from CALM, though.

Thomas Rhett & Kane Brown feat. Ava Max - On Me
Really like this, even if it is Meant to Be part II.

RESULTS: 5 Seconds of Summer - The Singles Rate
'Beautiful' is the definitely a great adjective to describe Lie to Me. It's such an easy listen, one of those rare songs you can listen in both happy and sad moods. It's probably in my 5SOS all-time top three and most-listened to track from Youngblood, so very disappointing to learn that it's not widely-loved.

Old Me - agree with an earlier post that this track is very much a grower, so disappointed but not surprised to see it ranked so low. It is probably the most competent song (if pedestrian) on CALM. Who Do You Love - I like the pop sound on this and thought it suited 5SOS very well, but the 2014 Chainsmokers' signature sound is prominent here so I can see why some did not like it. Good Girls - a highlight from their self-titled with a massive chorus but, like much of the first two albums, the pop punk sound has not aged well. Valentine - one of the poppier songs on Youngblood so can see why it was chosen as a single, and while I enioy the track and like how different this is from their usual guitar-driven tracks, it is a bit of a sellout.

Lawson - cmd z
The singles from their debut are all very good. Juliet is remarkably similar to Shakira's Can't Remember to Forget You.

Future Nostalgia • Second Album
Cool and Levitating should be the next singles.

Charli XCX - Famous
I can hear the instrumental of this track being used in the media, so maybe that's what the label are riding on.

Style
For me though, that tension is sexual - in a sexy, anticipatory kind of way. The dark visuals last throughout, save for the flashbacks during the final chorus (which is the best moment of the video). I do realise that Taylor may have wanted to paint a picture in light of that relationship currently, but it's a bit of a cheap shot. As she said in an interview about the song, the art form should capture the zeitgeist of the feeling as it was then, rather than now. And the video is flopping as a result: Blank Space had double the amount of views as Style at this point of release. I'm certainly not hitting replay like I did with BS.

Style
Really disappointed with this video. Agree with one of the posters above, I envisaged a video with a similar vibe to Teenage Dream (the song). The visuals in this video just don't fit the song. They imagery is too slow and dark, and in my opinion do not capture the same feeling and energy as the track, namely a free and upbeat one. Should've been something on the east coast highway, or at least cute like the Target advert. I do blame the director, who is clearly a filmmaker rather than a music video director. I'd say Style ranks as one of her worst music videos, which is bitter considering Style is one of her best songs ever.

Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This
Paloma's music is giving me life right now. Going through that post-break up phase right now, so this song is perfect for numbing myself.

Lana Del Rey - Born To Die
'Blue Jeans' is probably my favourite song on the album (that chorus  ), but I agree that it shouldn't have been released after 'Born To Die' (the single).

'The Remix' • Album Discussion Thread
The Monarchy remix is amazing, but nowhere near the original, IMO. The 'Alejandro' remix on the other hand is $h!t.
