  1. Any thoughts on when the grand final goes live (as I am leaving on vacation in a week...)

That pre-sale for the European tour was messy for some, but i secured tickets for Amsterdam, luckily!
  3. In the Dutch Top 40, Tattoo jumped from 16 to.... 1!
  4. As some of the participants of BJSC know, the Prime Minister of LookyLion also participates in the PopJustice Song Contest. As it is against the LookyLion law to use a song in a contest more than once, here are some previous PJSC LookyLion (aka WoW73) entries, for inspiration!
  5. I am considering a previous Eurovision artist.... he/she/they did well at Eurovision in the (not too distant) past
  6. Oh I forgot this was happening tonight... Congrats to the winner and other medalists! And thanks for the votes for Dusty. She deserved a lot more points than she got, to be honest, oh well.... B-)
  7. The song that would've gotten my 18 is out??
  8. :cheer:  :cheer:
  9. For my next AQ, I'm going for a Retro song, that I've loved for many years now. Dusty... For me, the greatest voice in popular music - of all time. Dusty had a voice I could listen too all day. I first heard Dusty Springfield's voice on the 1987 duet with the Pet Shop Boys, a single I loved and bought as a teenager. I also loved the singles she released from her Reputation album, but it was not until 2011 when I started collecting Dusty's back catalogue, discovering gem after gem after gem. Including my entry for this round. Back in October 2022, I was on another Dusty Springfield binge, and discovered through liner notes in a Dusty collection that this song was actually a cover of a song originally recorded by Rita Jean Bodine. An amazing voice and artist, who only released two albums in 1974, and a stand alone single in 1976. Unfortunately, I discovered Rita's music has never been remastered or released on CD or streaming. Rita's energy on her recordings is immense, and on her more quiet moments, I am for some reason reminded of Tori Amos. As for That's The Kind Of Love I've Got For You, I cannot choose between Dusty's and Rita's version - I love both so much. nRyOr9VOLtk
  10. It's greyed out for me, but...
  11. Ah, yes!!!! :cheer: Thanks for all the love! Ahem....
  12. Twice! in the Retro and regular contests...
  13. I love how my vetoed PopJustice entries are allowed here! I love you all!
  14. Yasss, me too!
  15. Yeah, another win! Thanks to all voters for Blusher! Next round will be... Retro!
  16. OH! I won?? This is a wonderful thing to come home to! THANKS to all the voters for Blusher!! I really appreciate it! When I heard Dead End for the first time, it clicked instantly, so I am very pleased that many of you enjoyed it as well. And of course thanks very much to Chez for hosting, well done! Speaking of hosting.... with work being hectic and intense, and hosting the current Retro Song Contest and the Sandra rate over at the PopJustice forum, I will not be able to commit to hosting the next round. So, mods, how does this work? Do you select a new host?
  17. I shall check it out, and if i like what I hear, expect many Aussie bops from me in the next months.....
  18. I've never heard of a triple j playlist, but it sure sounds intriguing!
  19. AH! I already voted, but might pop in for a bit

Dolly Parton is one of the most iconic female artists of all time - and has been going since the late '60's! Here is a playlist of (some of) my favourite recordings:

Inspired by a recent feature in Record Collector, I started a Spotify playlist for female soul/R&B songs from 1973/1974: Missing on Spotify is the iconic Rita Jean Bodine: nRyOr9VOLtk
  22. You have fab taste, as usual :cheer:
  23. An Australian girlband for round 153 - the amazing Dead End by Blusher, which gives me MUNA-vibes:
