For my next AQ, I'm going for a Retro song, that I've loved for many years now. Dusty... For me, the greatest voice in popular music - of all time. Dusty had a voice I could listen too all day. I first heard Dusty Springfield's voice on the 1987 duet with the Pet Shop Boys, a single I loved and bought as a teenager. I also loved the singles she released from her Reputation album, but it was not until 2011 when I started collecting Dusty's back catalogue, discovering gem after gem after gem. Including my entry for this round. Back in October 2022, I was on another Dusty Springfield binge, and discovered through liner notes in a Dusty collection that this song was actually a cover of a song originally recorded by Rita Jean Bodine. An amazing voice and artist, who only released two albums in 1974, and a stand alone single in 1976. Unfortunately, I discovered Rita's music has never been remastered or released on CD or streaming. Rita's energy on her recordings is immense, and on her more quiet moments, I am for some reason reminded of Tori Amos. As for That's The Kind Of Love I've Got For You, I cannot choose between Dusty's and Rita's version - I love both so much. nRyOr9VOLtk
