New Release Schedule: Monday 23 April
I am looking forward to Julian Ovenden's album. I saw him on This Morning and he was great. He is on Breakfast tomorrow morning (24 April). We also saw him in Singin' In The Rain at the Festival Hall last year - great show but only a one off. More's the pity.

Joe McElderry
Joe was at the launch of the Street of Dreams (The Coronation Street musical) today. He chatted about it on Tyne Tees TV and also about the new album and the Albert Hall concert. He was great. :D

Post page numbers
I notice that the numbers which are displayed on each page have gone awry! They only show the even numbers, no odds at all! A thread I went on had 12 pages marked but #26 on my last post! For instance when this page is displayed it has #2 despite it being the opening post. It doesn't make any difference but it is a bit odd.

Joe McElderry
Another step in his career - he is appearing in the finale of Street of Dreams (the Coronation Street musical) when it is on tour. He will be in the Newcastle shows on 29 and 30 May. Apparently the show features a different singer at each of the performances - one who is local to the venue where they are appearing. Joe is the only one announced so far. He is also one of the artists appearing with Dionne Warwick, Alison Moyet, Boy George and various others at the World Hunger Day concert in the Albert Hall on 28 May! He is the only guest singer of his generation!

Joe McElderry
Well said Torresgirl! In my opening post I put this sentence . Before you can say "Jack Robinson" someone who doesn't like him comes on and does exactly what I said would happen! I don't bother to go onto threads of artists I don't like or am indifferent to. Why bother?

Joe McElderry
If you don't like him or his music, I suggest that you go away and enjoy the music you do like. I do not understand why people are so negative to someone who is doing what he likes (singing) and what a great deal of people really enjoy. He has cut all ties with X Factor and Syco so give him some credit!

Joe McElderry
Joe is one of the guests at the Royal Albert Hall on 28 May in Dionne Warwick's concert for World Hunger Day. :cheer: Very prestigious - looks like being signed to WMEE is paying off already! Alison Moyet, Boy George, Tony Hadley are also guesting. Albert Hall

Joe McElderry
This is a great bit of news for Joe and his fans. He has signed to the William Morris agency and is listed under European and European Corporate. This agency is, apparently, the biggest in the world! He is already signed to the biggest label in the world. (Universal/Decca) So Joe must be doing something right despite the pessimistic posts we often get at the mention of his name! WMEE

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Having come back from his skiing holiday, Joe has been to his record company for important talks about the next album. Sounding very positive.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Tonight and for the next three days he is performing at the O2. He is singing some of the carols from his Classic Christmas album as an introduction to the Birmingham Royal Ballet's production of The Nutcracker. The reaction so far has been only positive from tweets I have seen.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
I do have a Twitter account and am always saying that I am too far away from the north-east to go to these signings and various gigs. I was quite moved when I saw the picture of him with the gold disc. :D

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
As you know the support at the Festival Hall was astounding. One of the men at Morrisons heard my car radio as I parked - Joe singing I Believe In Father Christmas - and said that thousands and thousands of copies of Classic Christmas had been sold in their store in Newport, Isle of Wight! So, Joe, please come down south for your many, many fans.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Ooh, does he sing as well as sign? I get a bit peeved! :(

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Anything from Brighton westwards is neglected! Portsmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth, Bristol, Exeter etc etc. Oxford would be good too.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Yes I did see him on tour at the Festival Hall! I was lucky enough to be offered two tickets and accommodation! We had a brilliant seat right in his eyeline. It was a superb concert from an extremely talented young man. As can be witnessed by the fact that Sir Tim Rice who was in the audience was on his feet applauding vigourously! The next day we went to the Leonard Da Vinci exhibition at the National Gallery, so a good weekend in all!

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Apparently they are already in discussion about the fourth album for next year - and also another tour after the roaring success of the Classic tour. I hope he comes to Portsmouth or Southampton!

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
I believe that 28,000 + of Classic Christmas were sold. Don't know about Classic though.

Any Recommendations for some good holiday music?
Depends which holiday you are talking about! Summer, Christmas, Easter?

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
I am bored with this argument. I started this thread and wanted it to be about Joe's new album Classic but a certain person has hijacked it with his own beef about Joe, which, I might add, he takes onto every forum he can find. Please mods can you close this thread and stop people talking about irrelevant subjects. By the way, have you read the "open letter" in the Mail? He says in there that he doesn't think it is anyone's business about someone else's private life.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
Fair enough but not everyone has heard the original he is "copying" from. He is probably given the arrangement as he hasn't the experience to do his own arrangements. Some of the tracks on both Classic and Classic Christmas are not the same as the originals that I have heard.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
In the interview on OK TV he said that there will be new material on his next album but also some standards. I refuse to call them "covers"! He has just been on Breakfast talking about Classic Christmas and the O2 performances when he introduces the Birmingham Royal Ballet's The Nutcracker. He will be singing with a 72 piece orchestra, some carols and songs from his album.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
I saw a lady in BHS looking on the CD stand and was so pleased when she found the Classic album. I said that it is a lovely album and she should look at getting the Christmas one, to which she replied that she is getting it in her Christmas stocking! :D

I was in the stalls, Row G on an aisle seat, right in the middle. Brilliant seat which I was offered quite late on. Fantastic show, one of the best I have seen.

Joe McElderry - Classic + Classic Christmas
I haven't been on BJ for ages but thought I would post the comments made by Sir Tim Rice when Joe sang at Durham Cathedral yesterday evening. It was a charity carol concert in aid of SAFC Foundation and was in the presence of the Countess of Wessex. A lot of people from the North-East were on the bill, such as Rick Wakeman, Barbara Dickson, and Sir Thomas Allen (Chancellor of Durham University and notable opera singer). Joe appears to have been the star of the show according to TV and press reports. He sang When a Child Is Born, In the Bleak Midwinter, and A Winter's Tale for which Sir Tim wrote another verse for Joe to sing. Sir Tim was in the audience at the Festival Hall when I was there recently at Joe's concert. He applauded enthusiastically - with a standing ovation!
