  1. It looks like any other horror film based on the wooden characters, crappy CGI and script. This is all based on the trailer, obviously, but let me start with Nancy: in the original, she was shown as being strong, independent and logical. This new one, in the trailer, is asking people what to do and how to stop him. Uhh...what?! The original Nancy defeated Freddy on her own. She worked out what was happening, she figured out who he was and she found the way to defeat him. From what I read, this new one is supposed to be a goth. A loner. I mean, I get that they are "re-imaging" the film but still... The CGI really cheapens the scenes, too. For example, in Kris's death scene she's being levitated. Compare to the original, Tina was being lifted by Freddy. It was much more powerful that way. Much more brutal. Also, where Freddy pushes through the ceiling - the original seemed much more real and thus terrifying. This new one is just blah. As for the characters, you could put them in any horror film in the last 10 years and you wouldn't know the difference. They are your typical teenage modern-horror victims. Just bad. Good points: I like the micro-sleep idea. Jackie seems to do a good job, but still won't hold a torch to Robert. Umm...what else is there? Oh, I like the girl playing Nancy, too. It'll be interesting to see what her take on the character is like compared to Heather's (again, I doubt she'll be better). On the whole, it looks like it's going to be an alright film. Still think it could have done with less CGI, non-stereotypical teenagers and a better writer. But eh - it's Platinum Dunes. They don't care.
  2. ^ There's some videos on YouTube of her performing it live. Based on those, I love it. Her vocals have improved a lot and the lyrics are pretty mature compared to what you'd normally expect from her. I'm looking forward to this!
  3. Yep, I wholeheartedly agree.
  4. Idiots. I hope they don't turn around and ask what went wrong when the sales aren't what they expected.

  6. Yeah, I remember being surprised he didn't direct it. I read his original script and while it is quite different from the finished result, it seems as though he came up with most of the concept and characters for that film. 'New Nightmare' is often frowned upon by fans, from what I see on horror forums. Personally, it's one of my favourites. While it doesn't follow the same formula we've been used to seeing in 'Nightmare' films, I thought the idea was genius. There are things that could have been executed better, but all in all it was a welcomed change in the franchise. And you're right - it was a re-boot. I can see why Wes wanted to write the film considering how far removed from the original the later films had become. As for this remake, I'm still holding out hope. Ideally, I wouldn't want this being remade at all but the one good thing about all these remakes is it allows the "new generation" to go and dig out the original classics and appreciate those.
  7. I had no worries about it going top 10. I just hope there are strong sales for it. Is this being released in Europe?

I think the person who did it is very cowardly and should offer an explanation. I didn't visit, but if it was a popular fansite then to just abruptly end it is out of order. The reason he was able to carry it on for the amount of years he did was because of people like yourselves visiting and getting involved.
  9. Do we know what the sales are?
  10. That's my second favourite, too. Actually, my top three are the 'Nightmares' Wes worked on (1, 3 and 7). I don't remember it exactly, but bringing Nancy back as a dream expert to help the group of teenagers in Western Hills was cool. Patricia Arquette as Kristen did a great job, too.
  11. i'm interested to hear their take on "such great heights". the original is amazing.
  12. ROTFL. I can imagine the dance off being like the one out of "White Chicks".
  13. She's done a few TV show appearances, directed some stuff and did make-up for a few films (including Evan Almighty), but that's about it. Neither actors were asked to be apart of the film. I don't even think Wes was asked. I mean, I know they don't have to since he had to sign everything over with the first film in order to get New Line on board, but it would have made sense to have SOME involvement from Wes seeing as he wrote & directed the film. I think you're right about Heather - she only ever worked on the 'Nightmare' films when Wes was involved. They wanted her back in 'Nightmare 2', but she declined because Wes wasn't involved. In 'Nightmare 3', she said she'd return but only if they killed Nancy off (and at least they did it at the end...but ugh. That's another story/disappointment in itself, lol). But I still think it'd have been nice to get her to play Nancy's mum just out of respect. :(
  14. Heidi looks like an old lady.
  15. Very nice. Is Keisha there, too?
  16. It's looking that bad?! I was hoping for top 10. Hell, I was SURE it would go top 10. I knew sales wouldn't be strong. If we are sat hoping it makes top 15, then wow...I'm honestly shocked.
  17. Right. I'm sorry to say this, but right from the moment I said these girls would need to work really hard in order to achieve successful sales and get the spotlight back on them. They may have worked hard in studio, but promo wise they've done nothing. "About A Girl" didn't sell as well as it should have, the damn album leaked a month early and they (label) aren't doing anything about it. The single is receiving very little promo AND it's being released weeks before the album drops (WTF?). On top of all that, the girls think they're going to be releasing three more singles and having a go at cracking the US?! Madness. They can barely crack their own market nowadays. This era started off promosing, but it's just fell apart piece by piece. And the sad thing is they were supposed to be launching a career over in America, too. I really don't see this happening. But things could change...I guess.
  18. 'The Wackness' is great.

Was 'Paper Heart' any good? I want to see that film sometime.
  20. Jamelia's "Beware of the Dog" and Rihanna's "SOS". Whoever did that did a great job.
  21. In a 'Nightmare' film? None. There was a similar scene though in 'Nightmare 4: Dream Master' where Alice & Dan are trying to get to Debbie's place but they're on a loop and keep repeating the same thing (jump in the car, drive to Debbie's, get out and start all over again). And I'm really not looking forward to this remake. I find them so unnecessary and quite frankly insulting. There was no need for them to "reboot" the franchise. Also, this new Freddy looks more like Lord Voldemort & sounds like The Grinch. Hmm. The only thing I like is that they're keeping him dark and creepy as opposed to the joker he ended up being turned into from 4 onwards. I'm really sad they didn't offer cameo roles to Robert Englund and Heather Langenkamp, too. Heather's role as Nancy is praised by all 'Nightmare' fans and she often tops the poll in 'Favourite Nightmare heroine'. It'd have been nice to see her play the new Nancy's mum just so that PD acknowledge the original 'Nightmare' fans. Oh well. I'm not expecting much from this remake. The first is a classic and you just can't touch those - especially with Hollywood's take on "horror".
  22. I have their EP on my iPhone. I was lucky enough to see them live about a year ago. They were brilliant. I'll have to check this record out. Thanks!
  23. If it's anything like those two albums, then I'll be a very happy bunny.
  24. I really love "We Get On" (acoustic version). It's such a sad song - especially since I've been in that position, haha. I also like "Mariella", "Birds" and "Skeleton Song" (which is apparently about an anorexic friend). Howeverrr, "Mouthwash" has to be my favourite. It's fun to play and the riff is catchy as hell.
