    Some of the qualifiers that people predict to do big things are so boring or shocking (last contest etc.), I just don't get how people could listen to something so generic / badly-written and think it was alright.

    To be fair though, when have we heard Britney sing live recently? It doesn't stop her releasing music and forging a career for herself, which for the most part has been incredibly successful. There's a whole host of artists nowadays that are successful that don't have the best singing voices, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna even...

     

    As for the first bit, I don't think I've heard anything in the past few years that I don't think somebody else could've executed better, it's all about material that suits, and certainly listening to this album it seems like she's found that.

     

    As Cheryl said herself recently, she knows she's no Mariah or Whitney - nor has she ever claimed to be. She's a performer, there's nothing wrong with that!

    All of the people mentioned re: singing all have a gimmick and a distinctive voice which sets them all apart, they all sing songs that suit them and they have a strong personality whereas Cheryl gets hand-me-downs rejected by other artists and sings them with a delivery that even when layered is still a bit uncomfortable. I do understand that Cheryl is a performer but the only reason she got a career in the first place was because she was famous beforehand, not for her own vocals but for vocals with 4 other girls so they all helped each other out. The rest were famous from the get go because they wrote their own songs and/or had a distinctive style whereas Cheryl is just a bit... bland? There's nothing setting her apart aside from her looks.

    Out of everything I've heard I'm still not convinced by Cheryl Cole as a solo artist at all. Apart from "Call My Name" and "Fight For This Love" I really don't feel there's anything else she's done that no-one else could do (and miles better at that I may add). But there's always demand for her and being that pretty / having so much of a media presence will only really help her shift the units - but yeah, she can't sing (and that's proven by the loons in here even going "she actually sounds quite good here!!") She's supposed to be good nearly all of the time children.

    Once again, Aeroche managed to defy the odds by becoming a surprise qualifier for the BJSC45 final today.

     

    Following an enigmatic and mysterious performance from the Icelandic electronic troupe GusGus, they vaulted

    into the Top 15 Semi-Final 2 qualifiers despite only being predicted to progress to the final by 40% of nations.

     

    Like previous Aeroche entrant Jessie Ware it came at the expense of a few frontrunning entries, most

    controversially that of Syndare (Bebe Black 'Deathwish') and Unovia (Nova Delai 'Slippering Into Sleep').

     

    GusGus will tour various competing nations with their track 'Over' to boost chances of a respectable final tally.
