My predictions have been awful this tournament, but I'm going with Brazil, Germany, Argentina and Netherlands
  3. Yeah I think it'll be done quite quickly now, so we can bring in replacements As much as I've loved watching him, it does feel like the right time to cash in especially considering he'd be out of action until October/November and the next ban just seems inevitable. Although, what are the chances that the ban is reduced as soon as he joins Barcelona? Blatter has already been quoted today praising Suarez for his apology I'd be doing everything possible to ensure Sanchez is part of the deal. Especially if Arsenal are the only competition
  4. Happy with Lallana. An improvement on Coutinho and more goals from midfield Different noises from last summer where we've gone from 'Not selling' to 'We'll sell if you meet our price'. The ban has obviously made a big difference Barcelona, Suarez and his agent seem to think they can bully us into selling though. I guess they didn't learn anything from last summer

As it stands we're looking at: Brazil vs. Chile Netherlands vs. Mexico Colombia vs. Italy Costa Rica vs. Ivory Coast France vs. Iran Argentina vs. Switzerland Germany vs. South Korea Belgium vs. United States Obviously some teams have only played 1 group match though, so it's likely to change

I guess we're supporting Italy for the next 2 games then
  9. Can't exactly call them dark horses AFTER winning 5-1 vs. Spain

Apparently Rooney has been playing number 10 in training. Welbeck on the left and Sterling on the right I do find the obsession with Rooney ridiculous though. Earlier in the week I heard John Hartson say that Sturridge should be moved out wide to accommodate Rooney. When the presenter questioned him stating that Sturridge was in better form, Hartson said that 'Players should be able to play a number of positions'. Why is that not applied to Rooney then? Lugano out injured for Uruguay, so Coates could start. Sterling should be used through the middle at some point to expose his lack of pace I'd think of going for diamond in midfield: Hart Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Gerrard Henderson Wilshere Sterling Rooney Sturridge Rooney, Sturridge and Sterling all central. The system does rely on the full backs for width though, so Henderson and Wilshere would need to provide cover out wide. It worked effectively for us at Liverpool with Coutinho/Allen and Suarez in instead of Wilshere and Rooney I do feel that Henderson is sitting too deep in the current formation. He's not really a holding midfielder and his biggest strength is his energy. Baffles me as to why he was taken off vs. Italy as he is one of the few players that wouldn't have gone down with cramp

I always thought Chile would qualify, but I never expected it to be at the expense of Spain. I thought Netherlands would similarly flop as they did in Euro 2012, so they've been a bit of a surprise package for me I think one of the issues with Spain though was Del Bosque's loyalty to certain players. Llorente and Negredo were more deserving of places in the squad than Torres for example

If we're going along with the view that Rooney should play number 9, 10 or be on the bench, then you'd have to drop him. Sterling and Sturridge were two of the stand out players for England in those positions I'd go with the same team, but bring in Lallana for Rooney

    FT: Uruguay 1 [Cavani 24 pen] vs. 3 [Campbell 54, Duarte 57, Urena 84]

Yeah I did think it'd be quite routine for Uruguay, but they have been on the decline since their Copa America win Finished below Ecuador in their world cup qualifying group and needed a play-off vs. Jordan to qualify Being without Suarez obviously hasn't been a help though
