Elvis news
This rather disturbing 'Associated Press' report really makes us concerned about the direction EPE is taking Elvis' legacy and particularly the 'Graceland' name of late : For 30 years, tourists from around the world have paid money to get a look at two airplanes once owned by Elvis Presley at Graceland in Memphis. Fans enjoy touring the planes for their direct connection to Elvis Presley and his jet-setting lifestyle, a sort of touchstone to the life of the King of Rock and Roll and his family. However, by April of next year, the planes named 'Lisa Marie' and 'Hound Dog II' could be gone. Elvis Presley Enterprises, which operates the Graceland tourist attraction, has written to the planes' owners saying they should prepare to remove the jets from Graceland by next spring. The planes have been a tourist attraction since the mid-1980s. They had been sold after Presley's death, and were eventually purchased by OKC Partnership in Memphis. OKC Partnership and Graceland agreed to bring the two jets to Graceland. The agreement called for OKC Partnership to receive a cut of ticket sales in return for keeping the planes there. - See more at: http://www.elvis.com.au/presley/graceland-...h.3xPmXOdF.dpuf

Architectural drawing of The Guest House at Graceland Michael SheffieldStaff writer- Memphis Business Journal Email | Twitter | LinkedIn | Google+ The 450-room Guest House at Graceland will closely resemble the Graceland mansion, according to early architectural drawings released by Elvis Presley Enterprises. The $70 million hotel will have a resort feeling with a large swimming pool and outdoor events area, as well as more than 400 parking spaces for guests. The hotel is expected to be built at the corner of Elvis Presley Boulevard and Old Hickory Road. An apartment complex and a car dealership are currently located at the site. While EPE isn’t commenting any further than a statement they released when plans were confirmed April 30, the company has set a target completion date for sometime in 2015, which means the project could begin construction later this year. Demolition has already begun on the apartment buildings, but final details about the project are still being determined, according to EPE officials. The project will be funded privately, and EPE already owns the land the hotel will occupy. The renderings were presented during a town hall community meeting at the Elvis Presley Auto Museum at Graceland Thursday night. EPE was acquired in November 2013 by Authentic Brands Group LLC and National Entertainment Collectibles Association for $130 million. During an interview with MBJ in 2013, Joel Weinshanker, founder and CEO of NECA, said expansion plans could also include more entertainment options and the development of new hotels in the area. Elvis Presley Enterprises owns 120 acres around Graceland, but only 43 acres are currently developed. However, the new owners are committed to making sure they don’t price Elvis fans out of the market. “If we have to make less money next year to make Graceland better, then we’re going to do it
