40. SELENA GOMEZ - Bad Liar [uK Peak - 21] [My Peak - 5] NZKXkD6EgBk 39. CAMILA CABELLO feat. YOUNG THUG - Havana [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 5] BQ0mxQXmLsk 38. NIALL HORAN - Slow Hands [uK Peak - 7] [My Peak - 3] nBmNcLBaPUE 37. MARSHMELLO feat. KHALID - Silence [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 3] Tx1sqYc3qas 36. CNCO & LITTLE MIX - Reggaeton Lento [uK Peak - 5] [My Peak - 2] UONnRMuuDps 'Bad Liar' is an odd little song, playing to Selena's (ahem) strengths as a singer and creating something sexy and usual, thanks in part to the 'Psycho Killer' sample. Camila's solo career got off to a great start with the massive 'Havana' playing on the Latin trend of the summer - it didn't chart as well on my chart as it's just a little too repetitive for my liking. What a revelation 'Slow Hands' was - I had completely written Niall off, but it's by far the sexiest song from a 1D member yet. In fact the album is really solid. 'Silence' is a combination of two up-and-coming acts - one from the world of R&B and the other from EDM. Yes, the drop may be reductive but it's still a pretty great track. Finally, Little Mix jumped on an already big song and served up their take on the Latin craze - my favourite of the genre so far!

45. MABEL feat. KOJO FUNDS - Finders Keepers [uK Peak - 8] [My Peak - 4] O3TDhPVx1Do 44. ALMA - Dye My Hair [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 3] p6LULl0GS6M 43. SHAWN MENDES - There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back [uK Peak - 4] [My Peak - 3] dT2owtxkU8k 42. JUSTIN BIEBER & BLOODPOP - Friends [uK Peak - 2] [My Peak - 3] 8e4f9f-j-5Y 41. STORMZY feat. MNEK - Blinded By Your Grace pt 2 [uK Peak - 7] [My Peak - 6] HPuj6UISMhs Mabel has been an artist to watch for a long time and it was so great to see her finally break through last year. She's cool without even trying and her current duo of singles with Not3s suggest we've got even greater things to come in the future. Similarly, ALMA scored her first hit last year with 'Chasing Highs' and she's practically the epitome of an unconventional popstar but I would like her sound to diversify a little more. Shawn Mendes keeps scoring those radio-friendly smashes but he's still a little too "good boy" for my liking. A basic Bieber bop is still a bop but I did expect more from BloodPop after his work with Grimes and Lady Gaga. And 2017 was the year when I finally became a bit more open with grime - Stormzy is a good gateway as there is still elements of pop music in his songs, especially this one.

50. AVICII feat. RITA ORA - Lonely Together [uK Peak - 4] [My Peak - 4] vQ3XgMKAgxc 49. MILEY CYRUS - Younger Now [uK Peak - 54] [My Peak - 2] -LX2kpeyp80 48. CARLY RAE JEPSEN - Cut To The Feeling [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 3] o97_jDomyqc Rita Ora finally made her comeback this year and she teamed up with Avicii to release his best single yet - who doesn't love a wistful banger. And thankfully no country guitars to be seen. Whereas 'Younger Now' uses country guitars to great effect - it's just a shame nobody was here for Miley's latest evolution. After taking an age with their sophomore, HAIM returned even more Fleetwood Mac-esque than ever. The choruses aren't quite as memorable this time around but the atmosphere they create is awesome. I'm not convinced by Taylor's transformation into a vengeful trap-inspired popstar (and judging by the album sales, most people aren't) but the pre-chorus is perfect in all its shimmery glory. Buzzjack fave Carly Rae launched another euphoric sickly sweet pop anthem - I think we're all incredibly excited for her new album this year.

55. DEMI LOVATO - Sorry Not Sorry [uK Peak - 9] [My Peak - 4] -MsvER1dpjM 54. DRAKE - Passionfruit [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 3] UfCuu-dp2Bw 53. MOLLIE KING - Hair Down [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 3] ISS1Y5n77gI 52. LITTLE MIX - Touch [uK Peak - 4] [My Peak - 1] gBAfejjUQoA 51. LORDE feat. KHALID, SZA & POST MALONE - Homemade Dynamite [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 4] LONIThD7vO8 Demi continued her transformation into Jessie J this year (my God some of these vocals are so screechy) and somehow managed to wrangle her biggest hit yet. Unfortunately the song got stale very quickly for me. Drake continued his global domination with this absolute banger - the house beat just works so well with his soft version of rapping. Mollie King had another attempt at breaking through as a solo act with a barnstorming Xenomania production - however the song is too overly repetitive and practically nobody is here for her. 'Touch' was my last number one of 2016 and carried on Little Mix's staggering momentum. They can bin the outfits from the video. Lorde teamed up with a host of up-and-comers for the single version of 'Homemade Dynamite' and it's still an utter bop. Missed opportunity for a smash there.

60. CHANCE THE RAPPER - All Night [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 2] lkIUnRRH6l4 59. LORDE - Perfect Places [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 3] J0DjcsK_-HY 58. KATY PERRY feat. NICKI MINAJ - Swish Swish [uK Peak - 19] [My Peak - 1] iGk5fR-t5AU 57. SIGRID - Strangers [uK Peak - 14] [My Peak - 1] cIriwVhRPVA 56. CARDI B - Bodak Yellow [uK Peak - 24] [My Peak - 7] PEGccV-NOm8 Hip-Hop is a genre that I've come round to a bit more in 2017 but I still lean to the pop-friendly, or in 'All Night's' case dance-influenced, it has to have a good beat and hook to get me interested. Lorde released an amazing album this year, practically all of the tracks could have been singles and would have ended up on this countdown. Expect to see two more entries for her. It's been a bit of a hard year for Katy - bad release strategies (although it started out strong), the tide of public opinion turning and just a general air of "trying-too-hard". Witness is a mess, as is this video but at least the song is a complete banger. 'Strangers' was still number one as 2017 ended so it's not a true reflection of where the song is on my favourites list but there is now denying it's a bop. We love a mixture of emotion and dancefloor-readiness. Finally we have the biggest female rap success of 2017 with Cardi B - I'm not completely sold on her yet but we shall wait and see.

JUSTIN BIEBER - 2U [uK Peak - 5] [My Peak - 4] RqcjBLMaWCg Martin Solveig gave us a slow-burning dance smash at the beginning of the year with the exact type of house song I like - melancholic and with an interesting drop. Sigrid has just been crowned the Sound of 2018 but she did pretty well with her debut single in 2017 - I just love her slightly husky voice, it really sets her apart from other female singers. Selena eschews the interesting sound of her previous two releases to deliver an EDM version of what is basically "She'll be coming round the mountain". Snakehips & MØ gave us a wistful banger that everybody slept on. The David and Justin collaboration should have been great - instead it was aggressively mediocre.

DUA LIPA - Scared To Be Lonely [uK Peak - 14] [My Peak - 6] e2vBLd5Egnk Some days I think 'All Night' is the best track on Beyonce's opus 'Lemonade' and it's definitely the one that hasn't faded at all - sultry, classy and quite beautiful. 'I Dare You' is The xx's third and final appearance on this countdown and I now detest it as it is the hold music for the customer services department of the company I work for. Tove Styrke really deserves to break through - I love her quirky take on pop - check out 'Ego' and 'Borderline' if you haven't heard of her before. There's room for two Toves! SOPHIE caught my attention with her hyperactive pop and abrasive production but this dramatic change of pace really appealed to me.

TRAVIS SCOTT, CAMILA CABELLO & QUAVO - Know No Better [uK Peak - 15] [My Peak - 7] Sgp0WDMH88g Zayn did his best Drake impression complete with a so-cool-it-hurts but either the public still see him as a teen heartthrob or the song was too weak to really catch on. Charlie Puth was a bit of a revelation this year as I had written him off with the awful 'Marvin Gaye' but he's served two major bops this year. The xx finally went up-tempo, ow!! Those horns were used on all manner of festival programming - it's such a banger. For no reason at all, somebody put a donk on Kate Bush's 'Cloudbusting' but I wasn't complaining. Finally Major Lazer did their usual trick of throwing several artists onto a song and hoping for the best - realistically their sound is getting stale and Diplo needs to switch things up more.

80. ZAYN feat. TAYLOR SWIFT - I Don't Wanna Live Forever [uK Peak - 5] [My Peak - 2] 7F37r50VUTQ 79. RINA SAWAYAMA - Alterlife [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 2] Nhf9gkkYaBg 78. HALSEY - Now Or Never [uK Peak - 80] [My Peak - 7] kzQTc0-iBX8 Carrying over from last year Zayn & Taylor's 50 Shades collaboration is a bit drab - Rita & Liam do much better with this year's effort. My favourite discovery of 2017 lands at 79 - with any luck Rina Sawayama will break through in 2018 as every single track on 'RINA' is amazing, I love all the 90s influences. 'John Wayne' wasn't even a single but a good video (the only decent one from the Joanne campaign) can work wonders. Kasabian's latest album paled in comparison to its predecessor but at least they managed yet another indie club anthem. And our problematic sis Halsey rounds out this group with a song that doesn't sound at all like Rihanna's 'Needed Me'. There is thankfully much better material on 'hopeless fountain kingdom' - one of the most underrated albums of 2017.

DUA LIPA - Be The One [uK Peak - 9] [My Peak - 3] -rey3m8SWQI The Killers follow up 'The Man' with a breakneck indie anthem that has been absent from the charts for a couple of years - a welcome change of pace. Jessie Ware unfortunately decided to go full tilt towards ballad territory, losing the electronic/R&B flourishes that made her unique in the first place - sometimes I find 'Midnight' borderline unlistenable. Selena's had a rocky year bless her but showed an encouraging amount of experimentation as 'Fetish' crept up on me. Mura Masa is one of the most interesting producers around, eschewing EDM for a more world-music inspired sound and obviously queen Charli makes this song. 'Be The One' actually hit number one on my charts in 2015 but the re-release catapulted it back.

CHARLI XCX & FRENCH MONTANA - Dirty Sexy Money [uK Peak - 35] [My Peak - 4] AenmqoozqoA Snakehips released a little understated r&b jam with rising star Anne-Marie but it kinda flew under the radar - I quite like the smooth vibes. The Killers had a great comeback, releasing their best album for ages and the funk-drenched debut 'The Man' really was a great declaration of their new sound. Their was that tricky period for Dua Lipa earlier in the year when 'Lost In Your Light' flopped, despite it being the single supposed to launch the album. Thank god 'New Rules' saved the day. Louis Tomlinson is the world's worst popstar but there was a brief moment when this was a bit of a jam. And my love for Charli XCX means she can elevate even the most generic of songs.

Lana did a number of collaborations this year as well as refreshing her sound with a slight urban edge which renewed my interest her after the disappointing 'Honeymoon'. Sia went uptempo, nobody particularly cared, possibly due to oversaturation. This years solemn, rap-with-a-message anthem (see Macklemore's Same Love) came from Logic and was definitely emotive. The xx began the year with a bang, releasing one of my favourite albums of the year, so expect to see a couple more of entries from them.

I really had hopes for a Justin Timberlake-esque solo career from him but that seems unlikely now. Bruno carries on with his hit-and-miss corny pastiches of old classics and Alan Walker releases 'Faded' in a slightly different version. 2017 was the year we all went mad for Latin-tinged music which unfortunately didn't really translate to Despacito - if I hear another street musician playing it I might scream. We finish off with Steps offering a half-baked cover of a Delta Goodrem flop. Not a promising start.

Rogue's Top 100 Biggest Artists of the Decade (so far)
5. LITTLE MIX No. of hits - 15 (7 Number Ones/15 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit MkElfR_NPBI The X Factor really struck gold here. It's not often a girlband hit their peak 3 albums in but Little Mix continue to defy expectations scoring hit after hit, selling out tour after tour. I'm just praying they take a little break so they're able to continue, unlike literally every other girlband. 4. CALVIN HARRIS No. of hits - 16 (2 Number Ones/14 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit 17ozSeGw-fY Calvin Harris managed to make the transformation from slightly geeky electronic producer to the world's biggest DJ by the simple power of bangers. A number of great vocalists has helped over the years but just as the formula was getting way past the sell-by date, he switched it all up with this year's album. 3. KATY PERRY No. of hits - 14 (3 Number Ones/14 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit 0KSOMA3QBU0 The 'Teenage Dream' era was one of pop's most successful, effortlessly scoring smash after smash each with its own memorable video. 'Prism' wasn't quite as great but it did at least unleash the massive 'Roar' and 'Dark Horse'. I like Katy because she isn't embarrassed to be pure pop and has all the colourful gloss that goes with it. 2. LADY GAGA No. of hits - 13 (11 Number Ones/13 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit EVBsypHzF3U And so here is my favourite artist of all time. Look at that hit rate! I've liked pretty much everything she's ever released (apart from Cheek To Cheek obvs) but looking back ArtPop was the weakest of her albums. 'Joanne' showed such artistic development that I can't wait to see where she goes next. 1. RIHANNA No. of hits - 20 (7 Number Ones/18 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit pa14VNsdSYM It was never going to be anything else but this commercial juggernaut. Even though the days of RiRi releasing an album a year have gone, her insane amount of iconic hits and then last year's creative peak 'ANTI' cemented her position as queen of the decade. But will it last?

The final stretch! 10. NICKI MINAJ No. of hits - 14 (4 Number Ones/10 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit 4JipHEz53sU Saying Nicki's work is prolific is an understatement. 3 full albums + reissues and countless features mean that she's been everywhere since the beginning of the decade. Straddling the line between pop and rap, I still think her best work is ahead of her and I'm just praying for a less messy campaign this time. No more 'Starships' please. 9. ONE DIRECTION No. of hits - 14 (3 Number Ones/14 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit T4cdfRohhcg As far as boybands go, One Direction actually had decent material - only 'Midnight Memories' and 'You And I' failed to chart and I still like them. Their solo careers have had various success but at the moment it seems that Zayn is the most likely to end up on this list in the future. 8. MARINA AND THE DIAMONDS No. of hits - 11 (6 Number Ones/10 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit n1VTcJfL7RE I am a massive Marina fan - I think she is one of the most intelligent pop songwriters of the decade and possesses one of the most unique voices. All 3 albums are great but I do wonder that she's started to lose her spark a little bit. 7. THE SATURDAYS No. of hits - 12 (3 Number Ones/12 Top 10 hits) Biggest hit KdtIfp7WB0w I like Big Pop Choruses and girlbands, ok?! 6. ELLIE GOULDING No. of hits - 15 (2 Number Ones/13 Top 10 hits) rNpBahr49mA Ellie started off really promising as an indie/electronic singer with really interesting songs - 'Starry Eyed', 'Under The Sheets' and 'Anything Could Happen' were all incredible. Then 'Burn' happened and she turned into the most annoying and beige popstar in the UK. Here's hoping she can turn it around.
