20. FLORENCE + THE MACHINE - Ship To Wreck [uK Peak - 27] [My Peak - 2] B9v8jLBrvug 19. ADELE - Hello [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 2] YQHsXMglC9A 18. GRIMES - Flesh Without Blood [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 1] Tv9YoYCKNoE 17. TOVE LO - Talking Body [uK Peak - 17] [My Peak - 2] AzRyxGBGiAE 16. CARLY RAE JEPSEN - Run Away With Me [uK Peak - 58] [My Peak - 1] TeccAtqd5K8 We're finally into the top 20! Florence starts off with the euphoric 'Ship To Wreck'. I always prefer the upbeat, slightly ramshackle Florence and this powers through so brilliantly. Of course Adele had to feature here somewhere - when we look back at 2015 it will be her success we remember. And Hello is actually a brilliant song so I can't complain that much. I much prefer Grimes however, as 'Art Angels' was my favourite album of 2015. She managed to match her creativity and experimentalism with massive pop choruses and the end product is one of my favourite song/video combinations. Expect more from her in 2016. It was so pleasing to see Tove Lo have some success with the sexy (but not trashy) Talking Body. And I don't really need to say much about no.16 as she seems to be very close to Buzzjack's hearts.

25. SIGMA feat. ELLA HENDERSON - Glitterball [uK Peak - 4] [My Peak - 4] DQF5aHVOW5s 24. MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS - Downtown [uK Peak - 11] [My Peak - 2] JGhoLcsr8GA 23. THE WEEKND - Can't Feel My Face [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 2] KEI4qSrkPAs 22. CARLY RAE JEPSEN - I Really Like You [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 1] qV5lzRHrGeg 21. YEARS & YEARS - Shine [uK Peak - 2] [My Peak - 2] hXTAn4ELEwM I never expected to see 'Glitterball' so high up on this countdown - it's a pretty basic Sigma song, elevated by the wonderful Ella Henderson but it's something I rarely listen to now. I was fully prepared for Downtown to be massive and so was very surprised when it wasn't - Macklemore gets so much hate but I think he's consistently delivered great singles - Downtown is one of them. Hook after hook, a great old school vibe, quotable lyrics and to top it off an amazing video. Going a bit more uptempo definitely paid off for The Weeknd as he scored a massive hit with this song, perfecting a homage to MJ. 'I Really Like You''s shine has somewhat dimmed as it gets a bit overshadowed on the album but at least we have that sweeter-than-sugar chorus and amazing Tom Hanks-featuring video. And then we have my favourite new band of 2015 Years & Years who were so close to getting THREE entries in the top 20 but fell at the last hurdle.

30. CHARLI XCX feat. RITA ORA - Doing It [uK Peak - 8] [My Peak - 2] Km3agvlyRmM 29. PETITE MELLER - Baby Love [uK Peak - 30] [My Peak - 2] XDBJVgIVPcs 28. ADAM LAMBERT - Ghost Town [uK Peak - 71] [My Peak - 1] Ix8ocFEMa1o 27. MARINA & THE DIAMONDS - I'm A Ruin [uK Peak - 169] [My Peak - 2] fDVC_pFMBMM 26. FLEUR EAST - Sax [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 1] 3JZ4pnNtyxQ 5 pretty great songs here. The Charli XCX song is packed full of girl power and as I read on the Popjustice forum, "it would make a great Spice Girls comeback single". The video is tacky but amazing as well. Petite Meller's weird take on pop was music to my ears but understandably didn't really take off - I'm still quite impressed that it breached the UK top 40 though. Shame that 'Barbaric' was just a carbon copy. 'Ghost Town' was a huge hit waiting to happen but I think his lack of promotion in the UK hampered that - that haunting whistling sound is one of my favourite "drops" of 2015. Marina goes a bit Kate Bush-y on 'I'm A Ruin', the outstanding highlight from 'Froot'. And then we have the best X Factor guest performance of the series. Yes, it may be a little like 'Uptown Funk' but what a debut! Obviously I am now praying that 'More And More' won't be a total flop.

35. IGGY AZALEA feat. JENNIFER HUDSON - Trouble [uK Peak - 7] [My Peak - 3] UGLx4zzMdRA 34. RITA ORA - Poison [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 5] Q1fGOG3XXIQ 33. PURITY RING - Begin Again [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 4] IIPMzeNWAtk 32. LITTLE MIX - Love Me Like You [uK Peak - 11] [My Peak - 2] 1WpoKRnoPRU 31. KELLY CLARKSON - Heartbeat Song [uK Peak - 7] [My Peak - 6] d4_6N-k5VS4 We start off with two songs that I had forgotten would be in this countdown - both benefited from a long pre-release but ultimately both are not the artists best offerings. 'Poison' sounds like a demo and 'Trouble' never really builds any momentum. Purity Ring delivered one of the best kept secrets of 2015 - their album 'another eternity' is synth-pop genuis. I'm not too sure about that bizarre video though. Little Mix rode high this year and this 50s girl group pastiche was spot on and was still charting as the year ended. Kelly Clarkson remained releasing the same sort of song - time to switch it up!

DAVID ZOWIE - House Every Weekend [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 1] lfEVLXu3NXs Into the top 40 we go! We begin with a severely underrated Nick Jonas track that had a long life on my charts on the vain hope that it would pick up steam, but alas it was not meant to be. It's a similar tale for Natalie La Rose whose steamy follow-up track never really caught on. Professional banshee Sia turns up once more - I personally love the vocal cracks on Alive but I know it's like torture to some people! I'm very surprised Ellie is quite low on my list - it really is one of my songs of the year so it must have just been released in a busy period. And I am taking a long hard look at myself at seeing David Zowie above her. Jesus that track got old REAL FAST. Oh dear.

45. KAREN HARDING - Say Something [uK Peak - 7] [My Peak - 6] SiwgvQA8ksE 44. MNEK & ZARA LARSSON - Never Forget You [uK Peak - 5] [My Peak - 4] GTyN-DB_v5M 43. SNAKEHIPS feat. ONE DIRECTION - Drag Me Down [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 1] Jwgf3wmiA04 'Say Something' was a staple of all my pre-drinking sessions this year - that bass hits hard. I'm guessing Karen will remain a one hit wonder though. It was nice to see MNEK finally get a big hit this year but even better that Zara Larsson broke through as well. Expect to see more of her in the 2016 countdown. 'All My Friends' is still one of my current favourites and managed to make considerable headway on this chart despite it being released so late in the year. And we finish with a One Direction double whammy: A take on Taylor Swift's Style (which I like to think is intentional) and their best single for a couple of albums - Drag Me Down. I don't care how "uncool" it is for a guy to like 1D, I will miss their presence on my charts next year.

JESS GLYNNE - Not Letting Go [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 3] nsDwItoNlLc Selena's foray into the more urban side of pop has worked wonders for her. 'Good For You' is so slinky and sexy - her rather limited vocals are boosted rather than being lost in the mix. The Weeknd has had an amazing year and The Hills is him at his moody best. The bass hits so hard it makes my windows rattle! I'm still not sure why Clean Bandit swapped the vocals of Olly from Years & Years with someone from Glee but it's still a banger. Extra points for the singing bus driver. Nero's second album era has been sorely underappreciated but they transform a pop song into a dystopian stomper so well. And then we have the summer megahit from perennial chart-botheres Tinie Tempah and, yes you guessed it, Jess Glynne.

ELLIE GOULDING - On My Mind [uK Peak - 5] [My Peak - 3] H202k7KfZL0 52. SUSANNE SUNDFOR - Delirious [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 2] MdSB_PcBW3k 51. TINASHE feat. CHRIS BROWN - Player [uK Peak - 85] [My Peak - 1] IltwiyqKhEI Elastic Heart first debuted on my chart in 2013 - being the Hunger Games version with The Weeknd but the solo version, complete with the controversial Shia LeBouf video, did a lot better on my chart. Pia Mia scored a decent debut single but I doubt she'll get much more success. I'm still not sure why Ellie chose to launch 'Delirium' with 'On My Mind' - there are FAR better and less repetitive choices on the album. Susanne Sundfor is another Scandinavian marvel who produced one of the best albums of the year - Delirious seriously is incredible. And we see the beginning of Tinashe's transformation into a BIG POPSTAR. Surely 2016 is her year?!

BRANDON FLOWERS - Can't Deny My Love [uK Peak - 60] [My Peak - 7] 9iiDlU4rhlY We begin with a trio of up and coming ladies. Firstly Natalie La Rose who actually managed to score a hit with 'Somebody'. It's a pretty basic bop that dulls quickly. Then we have poor old Ella Eyre who got pretty overshadowed by Jess Glynne this year - I don't think it helped that Ella released the same song three times in a row. MO featured on one of the biggest songs of the year (spoiler: it's yet to come here) but her solo song was pretty much ignored which is a shame because both the production and the video is incredibly badass. Galantis were one of dance music's biggest success stories by remembering to include a chorus! We love a chorus. And we finish with another 80s throwback from Brandon Flowers who appears to be growing even more handsome with age.

ARIANA GRANDE - One Last Time [uK Peak - 24] [My Peak - 5] BPgEgaPk62M 'Want To Want Me' surprised me this year by being a Jason Derulo song that I actually liked and didn't get old very quickly. If he stayed away from some of the awful songs (Wiggle, I'm looking at you) he could be a great popstar. I've treated you with the video for FKA Twigs - this was my absolute highlight of Glastonbury 2015, she is an incredible performer and that vogueing was epic. That Madge peak is criminal, I actually though Rebel Heart was a return to form so to see it flop was a bit gutting for me. 'Uptown Funk' was my first number one of the year, carrying over from 2014. And if I never hear it again, that will be too soon. We finish with possibly the worst video of 2015 but what a song.

'I Can Change' benefits from a great sample of 'Smalltown Boy'. Here comes Jess Glynne with another of her 100 number ones of the year. It's decent. And then we have a trio of dance songs - a rather disappointing comeback from Disclosure that failed to live up to the height, a bouncy Dragonette collaboration and the peak of tropical house - the ubiquitous Firestone.

Why does the world hate girl groups so much?! Ariana launched her third album campaign with a lesser version of the song she broke the UK with in the first place. We also have a double whammy of Drake: 'Hotline Bling' which might be the most discussed/parodied video of the year and a Nicki Minaj collaboration that I forgot came out last year (Was it a single? Who even knows with Nicki). We finish with one of the true pop injustices of the year - poor old Hailee who deserved to smash with this pure pop brilliance.

PARSON JAMES - Stole The Show [uK Peak - 24] [My Peak - 5] BgfcToAjfdc 77. HANNAH WANTS & CHRIS LORENZO - Rhymes [uK Peak - 13] [My Peak - 4] HlwvWRcPVTw 76. LANA DEL REY - High By The Beach [uK Peak - 60] [My Peak - 10] QnxpHIl5Ynw Bad Gal RiRi leads the charge on this one with yet another "buzz" single and a controversial video to ensure the headlines. I do love the ratchet anthem but I miss her period when she was untouchable and could actually be bothered with her career. Then we have a trio of dance hits - the genre that still ruled the charts this year. 'Pray To God' one of Motion's few redeeming moments and of course it flopped. HAIM suit 80s dance rather fabulously. We also have Kygo-by-numbers and a Daft Punk sampling track that I quickly tired of. We finish with Lana's only upbeat track from 'Honeymoon' but even this leaves me slightly cold. Rather than releasing an album every year I think Lana would benefit from giving herself time to experiment with her craft because it's almost like I've heard this all before now.

85. MAJOR LAZER feat. ELLIE GOULDING & TARRUS RILEY - Powerful [uK Peak - 54] [My Peak - 11] o6b9JpBFjd4 84. WOLF ALICE - You're A Germ [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 6] ZpomZoueWa0 83. PALOMA FAITH - Leave While I'm Not Looking [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 3] ESbBLIJmuzw 82. TAYLOR SWIFT - Wildest Dreams [uK Peak - 40] [My Peak - 5] IdneKLhsWOQ 81. NICK JONAS - Chains [uK Peak - 79] [My Peak - 4] U8UX2bbCHJw Major Lazer follow up their monster hit (spoiler alert: it's still to come) with a slightly more subdued song featuring Queen of Collaborations and Re-Releases Ellie Goulding. I like it but I can see why it never really caught on. One of the biggest breakthroughs in the alternative scene this year was Wolf Alice - their grungy sound has just enough pop sensibility to make me love them - they are unstoppable live. Was 'Leave While I'm Not Looking' even a single? Apparently not, but seen as it's a carbon copy of 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' it could have scored Paloma another hit. The least memorable 1989 single bows out now (why couldn't it have been New Romantics!) as well what should have been a big follow-up for Nick Jonas. I think piss-poor management/promotion is the reason for 'Chains' flop - it certainly has all the makings of a hit.

Thanks for the comments guys! On with the next 5 now - 90. DUA LIPA - Be The One [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 1] -rey3m8SWQI 89. DJ SNAKE & ALUNAGEORGE - You Know You Like It [uK Peak - 67] [My Peak - 2] aBn7bjy9c4U 88. JESSIE WARE - You And I (Forever) [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 3] Wo2QB2kqG_w 87. SIA - Big Girls Cry [uK Peak - 77] [My Peak - 6] 4NhKWZpkw1Q 86. ALEX ADAIR - Make Me Feel Better [uK Peak - 13] [My Peak - 5] 626fsEM1Cts First up we have a singer who has a lot of hype going into 2015 - Dua Lipa. Even though she didn't make the Sound Of... top 5 I still think she has potential if she carries on churning out songs like 'Be The One'. It's a bit of an odd group of songs with an AlunaGeorge remix that has been hanging around for a couple of years and a Jessie Ware song that was released at the end of last year but remains amazing. We've also got an underrated Sia single that deserved to do far better than it did - enough with the Maddie videos though! And another faceless house song, with a hint of the tropical house sound that became popular this year.
