  1. 40k I don't think she will be #1 either thanks to the Mother's Day effect.
  2. Never heard of it ever either. I hope whatever it is doesn't prevent King from being #1.
  3. Love At First Sight
  4. King for huge sales, please. It's amazing.
  5. Yes. The guy has vocals for days; he can sing a range of octaves and has an extremely impressive vocal range for starters. To be involved in the songwriting process, production, instrumentation and management of your music at all once is something that a lot of artists in pop music (which is the genre his music seems to be boxed in to) can't and aren't willing to do. However, secondly, his voice suits a lot of sub genres, of which he has so far experimented with styles of pop/rock, urban, R&B, dubstep and dance. To me, he is genuinely not an average pop artist because his primary sub genre, or style if you like, seems to be acoustic/folk combined with urban. Not your average pop act, and not your average alternative one either. Like I said in Sam Smith's thread, many of his compositions are masterful and a lot of his unknown recordings are some of his best. When people hear the name Ed Sheeran I think the image that pops into one's head is an average everyday Joe with an acoustic guitar, and it's difficult to be original and inventive when you put into that box. The reality is he has much more to offer.
  6. No. La La La and particularly Latch are excellent produced songs which his voice (which I will get to) was well suited to. His solo material on the other hand is completely devoid of any creativity and artistry musically (in response to Ed, I can't say the same for him -- many of the compositions on x, + and his EPs are masterful and excellently produced), his lyrics repetitive and his style of songwriting generic and uninteresting. I would absolutely love to say that I think he has talent that I just can't seem to appreciate, but when he sings he sounds like he either vocalises through his nose, has a mouth full of shit or is being strangled whilst doing so. In the Lonely Hour is run of the mill and has as much personality as a cucumber, although few songs on it are powerful, the most obvious ones being I'm Not the Only One and Restart. #sozsam
  7. Thanks Martin. ;) I went for 100-124k myself. Ellie should fall short of 100k even with her streams this week, and I'd imagine she'll be around 80-90k next week at the highest, so 'King' should hit #1 nicely.
  8. I can't add the poll to the post for whatever reasons -- can a mod do this, please? The options are <50k; 51-74k; 75-99k; 100-124k; >125k. Thanks. ^_^
  9. King, the breakout single from Years and Years, is released this Sunday. The song has been inside the top 100 on UK iTunes for the past three weeks, currently inside the top 50, and according to the sales information that I have alongside the most accurate estimation that I can make must have conjured up pre-orders of >15,000 from these three weeks alone. How much will it sell in its opening week? The poll options are the ones that I see as most plausible.
  10. There has been a boost for Rebel Heart on both iTunes and Amazon. However, with many of Living for Love's units coming from the pre-orders of the album, it's difficult to tell how much of an effect the song has actually had. But there is definitely one for the album and I fully expect that to continue through to tomorrow.
  11. Not really. Ed has still sold more copies than Sam since then and the only reason why Sam has been ahead the past couple of weeks is because of Grammys exposure. x is the bookies' favourite to take home the award for British Mastercard Album tonight, so Ed should be back ahead by the end of the week.
  12. James Bay should gain some great sales from the BRITs exposure tonight. I'm really glad that Hold Back the River looks set to become a decent-sized hit; it bodes very well for his next single too.
  13. I'm guessing the Rebel Heart pre-orders have been added to it. The remix EPs are at 16 & 19 in the album chart. Noel Gallagher's instant grat is #1.
  14. Is Ed's Photograph confirmed as an upcoming single? It's appearing in the 'Coming Soon' list. Thanks for posting as per! :D
  15. King is FABULOUS; it will be one of the best songs of the year. I really do hope it hits the top, if not then I can't see it lower than #2. I think Ellie's boisterous streaming might prevent it from being #1 but I hope that I'm wrong. 102. Bloodstream - Ed Sheeran 218. Bloodstream - Ed Sheeran & Rudimental I can see the original version being top ten after his BRITs performance.
  16. Why? It's already sold two million copies and will be an excellent catalogue seller; they'd be stupid to re-release it.
  17. The original version of Bloodstream is already #140 (it was #269 two days ago) with barely any radio airplay and no video yet. I doubt x will be re-released, and it will sell over 2.5 million copies in the long run anyway.
  18. Rebel Heart will sell more than that in its first week. As for Living for Love, she and her record label have absolutely zero reason to care; it became clear from the MDNA era that Madonna doesn't sell singles anymore.
  19. I thought her special isn't airing until 14 March?
  20. Photograph hasn't been released although it was performed on the finale of X Factor which has helped it recently. One is the largest selling album track from x; its sales have exceeded the 200k mark.
  21. I'm sure that Doing It was already 59p for a period of time last week.
  22. The highest new releases which will more than likely come from LuvBug and Bars & Melody will be fanbase-driven so it is definitely a boring week. Is the Kelly Clarkson song out next Sunday? It's useful that she has a Graham Norton performance prior to its release; I don't think it will do very well.
