Mini Viva - One Touch
If Girls Aloud had this song it would be a hit no question, but sadly I agree with others here - I can't see it doing well in the charts even if it gets good airplay, even though it's a great song. I really want it to do well, and I badly want to get my hands on the Mini Viva album! :( I'll just have to pray

#11's that should have made top 10
Jordin Sparks - Battlefield. I know this has already been mentioned, but top 10 should of been the very least it reached!

Diana Vickers - Once
I don't want to say the same thing as before, but again - would she of even got that role if she was never on X Factor? Those West End productions often get people already famous to some extent, so the answer is probably no.

Diana Vickers - Once
I think it will go to no.1, for 3 reasons: 1. The hype of her being 'That Diana Girl Off X Factor' 2. The inevitable huge promo and airplay because of who she is 3. Lack of competition around at the moment Let's face it - if she was never on X Factor and no-one knew who she was, no-one would care about this song.

iTünes Thread · MARCH (PART II) Broken Down
It does make me laugh how many people here say that 'the charts suck at the moment' because a song they don't personally like is at no.1, and that everything would be fine if Telephone or Rude Boy replace it. I like both of them, but they're hardly profoundly brilliant songs are they?

Bieber up to #2  Come on people, I know Tinie Tempah isn't the most popular here, but now's the time for us to all support him!

Artist bashing thread
Yes I think it was inevitable that a thread like this would turn into that. It's very funny to read though

Bieber up to #3  I bet a lot of the Tinie Tempah haters will be thanking him if he ends up keeping that kid off #1.

When's it out?

iTunes Chart: February 2010 Pt. II
And rumour has it that Gaga and Bey are going to be performing it at the Brits next week.

iTunes Chart: February 2010 Pt. II
But the Glee album is out next week, so hopefully all the Gleeks will buy that so the singles can clear off out of the charts!

iTunes Chart: February 2010
Why is it 'foolish' to say she's doing well? I would imagine people are unlikely to buy singles due to the BBC Sound poll (which doesn't exactly dictate who will be most successful anyway), and I don't necessarily agree that Hollywood is more accessible than Rabbit Heart, they are both really good songs but to me they have never sounded like potential chart-toppers, whereas Duffy's Mercy and Adele's Chasing Pavements did (I know Adele missed out on #1 thanks to Basshunter but she was close). In fact, Hollywood is performing exactly how I thought it would, and I was surprised to read people on these boards saying they thought it could get to no.1. Have you heard Marina's other songs on her Myspace? They are all very good, but, with the possible exception of Mowgli's Road, none of them sound very chart-friendly. Marina's music does have pop leanings but to me it sounds more leftfield than mainstream - which is no bad thing by any means. I hope her album performs well though, I can't wait to buy it.

WHY ARE SOME PEOPLE SAYING MARINA'S SONG 'ISN'T DOING WELL'??? Top 10 for Hollywood would be a big achievement. Didn't Florence & the Machine's first proper single 'only' reach #12 when it was first released? Well, that hasn't hindered her success over the last year or so at all has it? Like I said before - they are not artists whose music is aimed at getting to no.1 in the singles charts. They are more album artists.

iTunes Chart: February 2010
What are you on about? Top 10 would be a big achievement for Marina & the Diamonds, because she's not an entirely commercial pop singer - the same as Florence & the Machine, who this time last year was being hotly-tipped just like Marina is now, but her proper debut single only reached #12 in the charts, but that didn't hinder her success over the last year at all did it? They are not singers who's music is made with the aim of getting to #1 in the charts.

Many of those who hated Fireflies will probably be rooting for it this week!

iTunes Chart: February 2010
I agree with this. I actually liked them when they were on X Factor because they went on the show and made a mockery of it, and in my eyes as an X Factor hater that's a good thing. But I'm starting to regret it now that they could get to no.1 in the charts. It's a terrifying thought.

Diana Vickers- Once
I can't decide what hurts my ears more, hearing her talk or hearing her sing. That aside, I honestly can't hear what's so good about this song.

Oh come on, be realistic! You could say that about almost any song that's ever been in the charts!
-
Haiti relief single: Everbody Hurts
I hate things like this. Yes it's for charity blah blah blah but how much will this raise - anywhere near what Cowell and all these big artists make in 1 year? No chance. It's just another big ego trip for Cowell to try and make himself look good - and of course to promote certain x factor singers no doubt.

Predict: Timbaland f/ Katy Perry - If We Ever Meet Again
It's already A-listed at Radio 1 as of yesterday, which should boost it's chances.

Wow, Owl City is really storming ahead fast on iTunes, hope it's enough to get him to no.1 by Sunday, there's still 3 more days left!

Brilliant post! Although to be honest I'd beg to differ about Alexandra :P The reason for the success of JLS (only in terms of record sales) is that they are probably the most marketable act ever to come from X Factor - they're a young boyband who are loved by young girls who watch the show (and are also the main target audience for the show) who think they are 'well fit' and go hysterical at the sight of them. It makes me laugh when people say 'they've done well considering they didn't win x factor'. Epic (their label) had no hesitation in snapping them up after they were on the show, because they saw the perfect opportunity to make quick money out of them, by marketing them into a group aimed directly at those fans in every way (the cheesy songs, lyrics about girls, silly dancing and shirt-lifting etc.) to ensure they sell loads of records. And because of all of that, and their X Factor fame, all the tv shows and concerts/festivals want them on as guests to pull in viewers, and in turn JLS get promo for their songs, so it's win-win all round. It's nothing to do with their music actually being any good. I'd give them their due if they made good music, but it's nothing but MOR boyband fodder, engineered purely to sell to their fans gained from X Factor. There is nothing about JLS that makes them any better than any other manufactured boyband that has come and gone in the last 10 years - the only difference with JLS is that they had the luxury of instant fame and a huge fanbase of teenage girls handed to them on a plate by X Factor, which is why they have been manufactured into just another formulaic cheesy boyband aimed at kids - and that's why they are selling so many records. They've had it so easy it's unreal.

Come on Owl City! I hope Glee doesn't catch him up by the end of this week. Next week perhaps? I'm sick of every version of Don't Stop Believin' so I'm hoping Fireflies can overtake Iyaz by Sunday and hold Glee off too.

Predict the number one hits over next few months?
A fake version of Fireflies is creeping up the iTunes chart right now, so I can see Owl City releasing the real one early.
