Not sure if this has been mentioned here yet, but Kylie is doing a 'tell-all' interview on Jonathan Ross next Friday, and she will also perform All The Lovers. So maybe there is a slight glimmer of hope of another #1 after all.

It's ridiculous. I put a lot of it down to the media. Hardly any musicians get on big tv shows and generally get a lot of coverage unless they're mega-commercial or tv friendly, or if they're from X Factor, or the latest pretty popstar (e.g. Pixie Lott, who has had massive promo and airplay, giving her huge success, despite not having any above-average songs imo). The media aren't interested in anyone who's slightly different to the norm. Anyway, back on topic, Scissor Sisters are performing on Jonathan Ross this Friday so hopefully that'll give them a boost.

So it doesn't matter that Paolo Nutini's latest album has sold over a million copes in the uk, but you're saying Radio 1 shouldn't playlist him just because his individual songs don't impact on the singles chart? How utterly ridiculous. Have you considered that some people actually prefer to buy an artist's album after hearing their songs? Or am I 'misquoting' you again? :rolleyes:

Are you having a laugh? What you're basically saying is that Radio 1 should only play the most commercial songs and anything that's unlikely to make an impact on the charts is not worth playlisting. Do you think popularity is defined purely by record sales? So it doesn't matter that many artists get huge audiences on tour - but only how many singles they sell? No wonder so many new genuinely talented artists struggle to break through when people have such narrow-minded attitudes.

I'm surprised they haven't added her new song yet too. Perhaps they got so many negative texts and emails about Once and they didn't want to annoy their listeners with her voice any further :heehee:

I would love that to happen, Fire With Fire is absolutely brilliant. I do like Katy but California Gurls is disappointing, but considering how popular she is right now I can't see it happening

Scissor Sisters should also make the top 10 next week, they are on Jonathan Ross this Friday so that should help them

Fair enough, but still, it would need tens of thousands of people behind it to succeed, because not everyone who joins the Facebook groups goes along with these things in the end anyway.

According to The Sun, Tinie Tempah was 5,000 ahead of Shout by the end of Thursday. Nowhere near enough :(

I've always thought this. Surely the sole purpose of charity songs is to raise money for charity, and therefore there is no need for it to be in the charts. But knowing what Simon Cowell is like, he uses the 'charity' aspect as a defence so no-one dares criticize it. But if charity songs were NOT eligible for the charts, I very much doubt he would ever involve himself with them. Just look at the X Factor charity songs - whenever the finalists get told they've gone to no.1 they go hysterical about it, which makes me think the only reason they are so enthusiastic about it is because they know they've got a guaranteed no.1 in the bag.

I don't see why they didn't just wait until Friday to release it. Ok it probably wouldn't of got to no.1 this week if they did, but it would have even more chance of doing so next week.
