  9. Final Leader board M4NGO climbs back to the top, only dropping 2.5 points along the way (pesky pronouns). As he predicted he Smashed it – Well done M4NGO. Lordp climbs to second with some very consistent scoring and dj_tim_e climbs up to third. Our previous leaders AaronTM and Jade are joint forth. Please post your comments and feedback on the concept and difficulty and whether you enjoyed it. A big thanks to awardinary who was my guinea pig for this quiz – he gave it an early test run for me and congratulations to M4NGO again for the win.
  10. Question 17 Daft Punk’s Album which was home to the single β€˜Get Lucky’ Picture: Niall Horan Written question: Random Access Memories Answer Smash: Niall Horandom Access Memories Commentary: For the final question we’re back to more people scoring highly. The photo shows Niall Horan, formally of One Direction fame, in a moody, black and white shot. The Daft Punk album, their most recent and only number one, is called Random Access Memories and this is the second time it’s come up during the quizzes recently. *Genius but wrong guesses of album titles included Anthology by King Rollo and Run to the Dancefloor but MiichaelKing21. Mack gets two points for the weird incomplete answers(!) and Jester loses a half point for only giving a first name. Five points: awardinary, TS0301, CianS92, M4NGO, lordp, chrissmith276, ultrafolklore, dj_tim_e, AaronTM, PeteFromLeeds, Ansel, n4yr, Cremey, MrAndrewMa, Riser, RabbitFurCoat, jimwatts, Jade, Jahq, dandy*, Chez Wombat, dan-G, oof, BrΓ© Two points: Mack. 11. Question 16 Elton John Instrumental single reached the UK top 5 (tenuously related to November the 5th) Picture: Debbie Gibson Written question: Song for Guy Answer Smash: Debbie Gibsong for Guy Commentary: One of the lowest scoring questions – maybe people have forgotten about Debbie Gibson, the teen singer-songwriter, who was pitted as Tiffany’s rival in the late 80s. The Elton John single is Song for Guy. One of the few singles Elton released which he is the only writer on. This is mainly due to it being an instrumental and therefore he didn’t need to collaborate with a lyricist. *Who is Melissa Jackson? Five points: M4NGO, lordp, dj_tim_e, King Rollo, MrAndrewMa, Riser Four points: Bjork One point: Paulgilb (Melissa Jacksong For Guy) Adele (Song for guy) chrissmith276 (Song For Guy) dan-G (song for guy) No points: awardinary, xajnipi, TS0301, jlj, CianS92, ultrafolklore, AaronTM, PeteFromLeeds, Mack., Ansel, n4yr, ...ready for it, Cremey, vancey, Vibe, MiichaelKing21, RabbitFurCoat, jimwatts, Jade, Jester, Jahq, dandy*, Chez Wombat, oof, BrΓ©
  12. Question 15 Former lead singer of the Stone Roses who had the F.E.A.R Picture: Kasabian Written question: Ian Brown Answer Smash: Kasbian Brown Commentary: Fairly straight forward this one. The photo was over the most well-known line up of Kasabian although they have just recently lost their lead singer Tom Meighan who left the band due to an assault charge. The lead singer of the influential 80s band the Stone Roses was Ian Brown. Ian had 15 top 40 hits of his own including F.E.A.R. which reach the top 15 in 2001. *PeteFromLeeds tried to think of someone with the name Andrew rather than Ian! Five points: awardinary, Paulgilb, Adele, TS0301, CianS92, M4NGO, lordp, ultrafolklore, dj_tim_e, AaronTM, Mack., King Rollo, Cremey, MrAndrewMa, Riser, RabbitFurCoat, jimwatts, Jade, Chez Wombat, dan-G, BrΓ© Four points: Bjork One point: chrissmith276 (Ian Brown) PeteFromLeeds (Kasabiandrew someoneorother) Jester (Ian brown) Jahq (Ian Brown) dandy* (... 13. Question 14 The name of the last UK Eurovision entry to hit No.1 Picture: Babylon Zoo Written question: Ooh Aah...Just a Little Bit Answer Smash: Babylon Zooh Aah...Just a Little Bit Commentary: One of my favourite answers again….the photo was maybe a little obscure but it featured Jas Mann of the band Babylon Zoo. Babylon Zoo of course spent 5 weeks at number one with Spaceman, although they struggled to follow up that success with only 3 other minor hits to their name. The last Eurovision entry by the UK to hit the number one spot was Gina G’s Ooh Aah..Just a Little Bit. It may have only come 8th on the night but it was an international hit, even reaching number 12 in America. *PeteFromLeeds gave the answer β€˜Annie Mac-ing Your Mind Up’ which was genius but very wrong!! Five points: M4NGO, lordp, vancey, Jester, dandy*, oof One point: Adele (Ooh ah just a little bit) Bjork (BabylonZooLoveShineALight) chrissmith276 (Ooh Ah Just A Little Bit) Riser (Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit) jimwatts (Betty Booh Aah... 14. Question 13 The Divine Comedy sang about a coach company on this top 10 single Picture: Rihanna Written question: National Express Answer Smash: Rihannational Express Commentary: A rather glamourous looking Rihanna is featured in this question with probably the most well remembered Divine Comedy song β€˜National Express’ which is all about taking a ride on a National Express coach (personally I prefer β€˜Something for the weekend’). Five points: awardinary, Paulgilb, xajnipi, TS0301, jlj, M4NGO, lordp, chrissmith276, ultrafolklore, dj_tim_e, AaronTM, PeteFromLeeds, Mack., Ansel, King Rollo, Cremey, vancey, MrAndrewMa, Riser, RabbitFurCoat, jimwatts, Jade, Jester, Jahq, dandy*, Chez Wombat, dan-G, oof Four points: Bjork One point: Adele (Kate Nashional express) CianS92 (Rihanna + some British Bus Company) n4yr (Rihanna) BrΓ© (Rihanna something) No points: ...ready for it, Vibe, MiichaelKing21
  15. Leader board 2 Checking in with the leader board again after the next 6 questions and there are still 3 players with maximum marks. Well done to AaronTM, Jade and xajnipi. M4NGO would be top too if he hadn’t missed up his pronouns on the β€˜Marry You’ question! There are still only 10 points separating the top 11 players so it’s all to play for over the last 5 questions. 16. Question 12 Name of the Guns N' Roses album(s) released in two parts in 1991 Picture: Muse Written question: Use Your Illusion Answer Smash: Muse Your Illusion Commentary: The photo shows my favourite group (and if I had remembered to vote in the Gezza’s rank they would’ve got my 30 points) Muse. Smash that together with the name of the two albums released by Guns N’ Roses on the same day in September 1991, Use Your Illusion (I & II). * Paulgilb tried to smash Wheatus with the answer – good but not right! Five points: awardinary, xajnipi, TS0301, jlj, CianS92, M4NGO, lordp, chrissmith276, ultrafolklore, dj_tim_e, AaronTM, King Rollo, Riser, RabbitFurCoat, jimwatts, Jade, Jester, dandy*, Chez Wombat Four points: Bjork One point: Paulgilb (Wheatuse Your Illusion) n4yr (The Used Your Illusion) Cremey (Muse) vancey (Museum ) dan-G (use your illusion) BrΓ© (Something Use Your Illusion) No points: Adele, PeteFromLeeds, Mack., Ansel, ...ready for it, Vibe, MiichaelKing21, MrAndrewMa, Jahq, oof
  17. Question 11 Single where Bruno Mars (and his dancing shoes) wants you to join him in holy matrimony Picture: Kendrick Lamar Written question: Marry You Answer Smash: Kendrick Lamarry You Commentary: Lots of different answers for the photograph on this question; Lemar and Omar both fit the second part to the answer and people even tried to switch the order and we had Young Thug and Young Jezzy smashed but the answer is Mr Kendrick Lamar. Holy matrimony refers to Bruno singing I think I want to β€˜Marry You’. *M4NGO and oof had a brainfreeze and put the wrong pronoun so lose 2.5 points each. Five points: Paulgilb, xajnipi, Adele, TS0301, CianS92, ultrafolklore, AaronTM, PeteFromLeeds, Cremey, MrAndrewMa, Riser, Jade, dan-G Two and a half points: M4NGO & oof (Kendrick Lamarry Me) One point: awardinary (Lemarryyou) jlj (Marry Youngthug) Bjork (MarryYouYoungT) chrissmith276 (Lemarry You) dj_tim_e (Marry You) Mack. 18. Question 9 George Michael sampled Anne Bancroft, from the film The Graduate, at the start of this single Picture: Demi Lovato Written question: Too Funky Answer Smash: Demi Lovatoo Funky Commentary: I was surprised how many missed the photo of Demi, as she is a Buzzjack fav, although it’s maybe because she’s covering her chin!! The sample at the start of the George Michael song is a clip from the film The Graduate; it’s Anne Bancroft's line "I am not trying to seduce you... Would you like me to seduce you? Is that what you're trying to tell me?" is spoken by her character Mrs Robinson from the scene where she is coming on to Dustin Hoffman’s college graduate Benjamin. * Chez Wombat took a hopeful guess at β€˜Too Funkylie Minogue’ which made me chuckle  Five points: xajnipi, TS0301, jlj, CianS92, M4NGO, lordp, chrissmith276, ultrafolklore, dj_tim_e, AaronTM, Ansel, Cremey, MrAndrewMa, Jade, Jahq, oof Four points: Bjork One point: Adele (Too funky) PeteFromLeeds (Demi Lovatouch) Mack. The song in question is criminally Janet’s highest charting song as she never had a number 1 and peaked at number 2. She of course also hit number 2 with Luther Vandross et al. on the single β€˜The best things in life are free’. *A couple of people picked β€˜Together Again’ as it also fit with the photo – good guess! 19. Sorry Bjork - part of the game is to work out how the two answers go together - you took all the spaces out of the answers (i.e. ColdplayLayla, KajagoogooGooGooDolls, DizzieRascalCallingOccupantsofInterplanetaryCraft CydniLauperPerfectMoment) but they weren't really smashed. How do others feel? I could be more lenient and award full points for those type of answers?
  20. Question 8 Multi-million selling album by Dire Straits Picture: Everly Brothers Written question: Brothers in Arms Answer Smash: Everly Brothers in Arms Commentary: The photo confused many and there was an even split between those who thought it was The Righteous Brothers and those who correctly answered with the Everly Brothers. There was even a cheeky Jonas Brothers in there too! The Dire Straits clue, for the album Brothers in Arms, gave many the idea that the duo had a brotherly name. Question 7 Album by Crowded House containing the singles β€˜Fall at your feet’ and β€˜Weather with you’ Picture: Frankie Goes To Hollywood Written question: Woodface Answer Smash: Frankie Goes To Hollywoodface Commentary: A more tricky picture round here, with 80s chart toppers Frankie Goes to Hollywood. The album, one of my all-time favourites, refers to Crowded House’s top 10, UK breakthrough album, Woodface. Five points: xajnipi, M4NGO, lordp, dj_tim_e, AaronTM, King Rollo, jimwatts, Jade, Jester, dandy* Four points: Bjork One point: chrissmith276 (Woodface) Mack. 23. Question 6 The Buggles hit number one with this song Picture: Craig David Written question: Video Killed the Radio Star Answer Smash: Craig Davideo Killed the Radio Star Commentary: This was the only question where every player scored a point. A young, early 2000s, Craig David can be seen in this photo, from his Born to Do it era. The answer refers to the biggest and most well-known song from the Buggles, Video Killed the Radio Star. *Mack. drops points for not including the surname (it no longer smashes) and MiichaelKing21 switched the order for something weird!! Question 5 The Barenaked Ladies sang about an instance of 7 days on this single Picture: Boyzone Written question: One Week Answer Smash: Boyzone Week Commentary: This tuned out to be the most correctly answered question. The picture shows a fresh-faced, mid-90s Boyzone. What surprised me the most was how many people remembered the Barenaked Ladies and their top 5 hit, One Week, which is obviously a collection of 7 days!
