iTunes Chart // October II
Okay, let me just clear some air. Forever Is Over IS a hit, not a semi hit. Maybe the "major" adjective I used was a bit of a hyperbole and I know that a good chart placing doesn't make a single a hit without good sales. But what I'm saying is a song that reached #2 is a hit, not a half or semi hit, regardless of its sales or chart run - the song beat 98 other songs in the top 100 to get to that position so it is definitely a hit. The word "semi" is what bothered me because that implies you saying FIO was just barely a hit when it wasn't. And the song isn't having a McFly-like run but more of Girls Aloud-like one. 69k in two weeks by any single is excellent and should be considered as a proper hit, maybe not a major hit, but there's no denying the fact that it did miss #1 by one place and sold 69k in two weeks which are two typical factors of any proper hit. In For The Kill was a major hit, FIO was a proper hit and as an example New In Town could be classified as a semi-hit, not FIO - hopefuly people understand what I'm trying to point out now.

A #2-peaking single is a semi hit? Get real! Any #2 single as a MAJOR hit, I'm guessing the likes of Untouchable or The Loving Kind must be off-the-radar flops in your eyes if you consider a #2 peaking single as a flop. :rolleyes

'Wordshaker'
Yeah but if Ego gets overshadowed by Xmas and Xfactor it'll flop along with the album. Whereas if it were released in January, they both could come back strong. January isn't that long of a time to save the album IMO especially with a single like Ego. Rushing is what's caused the underperformance of both the album and FIO, rushing things even more could just worsen everything altogether and the era will just be one undeserved disaster! :drama: To put it simply the miracle would be January, the omen would be December 14th LOL.
-
Ego // 2nd Single
Well, January isn't looking good if they're shooting the video on Friday and there's realistic rumours of it being released on December 14th going around. :snif:
-
Ego // 2nd Single
It is definitely more lead single material, FIO seems more like an era closer than an era opener although I prefer it to Ego, just market wise it would've been a wiser decision.

Not necessarily, there were lengthy charters before the download era - All Saints, Spice Girls. And the likes of If This Is Love, Untouchable, Sexy No No No, I Think We're Alone Now, Easy, No Can Do, Change, Denial, Say It etc etc aren't exactly sustained chart runs, the established and indie rock acts really struggle in that aspect in the download era so it actually only applies in some cases and in other cases the physical and download eras are still in close contrast.

Poll - Predict : Sugababes - About A Girl
I think it'll chart somewhere in the top 15, they haven't had a good top 10 record with second singles of recent eras but hopefuly a flop, really don't like it, I think I might hate it more than Get Sexy with time as well which is also why I don't see it doing too well but who knows maybe they can pull off a string of top 10s this era for a change.

I see your point. Well, I guess I'm just an OTT fan desperately wanting their favourite group to have and gain maximum success. FIO is my favourite Sats single at the moment, it's achieved a superb peak but the sales and chart run is far off from what it deserves to be! I really hope some miracle happens to steady the freefall and seeing one of my least favourite songs of the year (Get Sexy) bettering the efforts of my favourite song of the year is extremely agrovating. I just think the Sugababes have had a spot-on release strategy where the Sats have had the most ridiculously disasterous of ones. The 2-8-12 chart runs are extremely common with all the girlgroups though, just the occasional long sitter here and there. Eg - About You Now, The Promise, Up.
-
Chipmunk Wants To Collaborate With The Saturdays
But that's not the point! The Sats are better off on their own, collaborating with this chav clown would be beyond embarrassing and look terribly desperate and The Sats would never/have never gone down to that common level and never will!

Whatever! I don't memorise the Sugababes chart runs! I was one week off, BIG WIPPY. "Get Sexy" wasn't exactly in the middle of a stampede of big new releases so had "Forever Is Over" been released earlier it would've had a much steadier chart run! A #2 single is brilliant anyway, who gives a $h!t about its chart run! That's just a bit too petty, its as if nobody's satisfied with anything. They've still had a much better debut than the Sugas have had anyway and with much more respectable chart runs. And "oh please" how can you predict how much FIO will sell and how well it'll fair in the end against "Up". Who predicted "Issues" to be as big as it was or who predicted how long "Up" would hang around? Not many... As an example to contrast with your inaccurate prediction. FIO is better than "Up" anyway, with a better peak so what's going to stop it from outselling "Up"?

iTunes Chart // October II
Exactly, my point was that it's not going to a Get Sexy and plumet by 10/13 places a week. It's going to be a more consistant seller and longer chart sitter like "Up" and "Issues", the only reason "Get Sexy" spent another week in the top 10 was because of that whole vulgar break-up scenario which everyone eventually ended up hearing, FIO didn't exactly have that type of lucky mass promo, if it wasn't for Chipmunk chav, The Sats would've been #1 and have a better-looking chart run at the same time!

It won't it'll rebound on the weekend and stick top 15 on Sunday. It's definitely not another "Get Sexy", way too good to be.

Agreed in the second one as well, she can look much better and much less drowsy or drugged like in the first one. The rest of the girls look absolutely gorgeous though.

Saturdays 'would continue as four-piece'
Topics like these really depress me , stories like this after their second album already! I just can't picture it happening at all. I love them as a group, can't imagine the band without every one of them. I would much prefer them to continue as a 4 piece TBH, it just wouldn't work with a new member. And if a new member was added I don't think any of us would like her very much either LOL but I'd still love them if there was only 4 of them. It just wouldn't be the same if someone new was added and the girls seem really tight, don't see the vulgar Sugababes mess happening with The Sats anytime soon.

Chipmunk Wants To Collaborate With The Saturdays
Chipmunk 'wants Saturdays collaboration' http://images.digitalspy.co.uk/09/28/160x120_chipmunk.jpg Oli Simpson - Chipmunk has said that he wants to work with The Saturdays, according to reports. The 18-year-old rapper beat the girl group to the top of the singles chart on Sunday, scoring his first number one with 'Oopsy Daisy'. Chipmunk told the Daily Star: "When I heard we were coming out on the same day as The Saturdays, I was nervous. "We are going to be working together - gimme one of their verses and I'm gonna kill it." Of his newfound fame, the star added: "I was just not expecting this. For me, having a number one single is a turning point for rappers, rhymers, MCs in general." I really hope this doesn't happen, the girls need to stay as far away from these in chav artists as possible. Una shouldn't have to drop to Amelle's level/"Never Leave You". She did mention on Radio 1 that she does like the idea of it though, she better just change her mind then because this would be completely tragic TBH.

Ego // 2nd Single
I think it should wait till January time and after the Christmas rush, if it gets overshadowed during that rush along with X-Factor of course, which could be very likely - it'll flop and so would the album. The more space between singles, the better. As apposed to squeezing to many in or too many close together ala "Work". So excited for the video, even though I'm still massively addicted to FIO's one. I'm expecting them to better it by a long mile though, they're looking a bit shaky in sales and on the charts at the moment but with a perfect second single release that could all be stablised! :P
