Sad Interview
Aren't you forgetting the lovely British tabloids, Scotty... ?

She's Madonna the single
Where did that 80s rumour come from.. ? Anyway, seeing as She's Madonna is already on the radio it should defenitely be the new single. I don't think it will be a huge hit (particularly if there will be zero promotion again), but like Scotty said- at least it won't scare people off. The Rudebox single has already done enough of that.

Sad Interview
The thread title is appropriate. I know this will sound strange, but I'm actually pleased that he plans to stay away from Britain for a bit. It's what Scotty and me and also others on the board have always said, he needs to be away for a while so people can learn to appreciate him again. Right now the Brits don't know what they've got in him, they take him for granted and are probably a bit fed up with him because he has been around for so long, as he says. He will be back. Sooner or later - maybe sooner because after all he is known for changing his mind quite often. ^_^

December 2006 News
Well, at least Newton suggests in the end that maybe "they were only having a laugh". But still, there is a lot of negativity in that article I think, doesn't really make Rob look good. Probably Newton has grown out of her pro-RW phase and will join everyone else in "Hail TT, slag off Robbie" :puke2: :arrr: I wouldn't be surprised, I was already kind of expecting it.

She's Madonna the single
I take everything back. I guess that quote was from the DJ ? How funny. The German DJ said the complete opposite: "Both RW and PSB have done better things in the past"

She's Madonna the single
I hear it has already been played on a German radio station as well. So it seems the Brits are a bit behind. Oh well, maybe they are not going to play this one at all...

Angels cover of girlband
Well, that way it will hardly get to no. 1. Apparently their PR is as good as Robbie's ...

Angels cover of girlband
Xmas is getting closer and I remembered that there would be the release of Angels cover by that British girlband. So, is it already being played in the UK, who has heard it ... ? I'm not sure I want to hear it, even if it's not that bad. You can call me biased or stubborn but Angels is sacrilegious to me, it's just not right that anyone else should sing this (or at least not release it as a single). I know it's for charity but to be honest I wouldn't want it to get to no. 1, Rob himself never got that although Angels is undoubtedly his biggest hit, so I think in a way it would p*** me off if that girlband got to no. 1 with it. The young kiddies probably won't even know it was originally by RW. No kidding, I mean it is a new generation, the song will be 10 years old next year. Can hardly believe it's been that long. :o I think in the week of the single release every UK fan should download the RW version of Angels. And I'd like to spread that on other fan boards as well. Who's up for it ?

December 2006 News
Thanks jups, that's a nice bit about the drivers' favourite music. :D And here's another article from Australia: STILL "PETRIFIED" OF PERFORMING Despite performing countless arena shows and selling more than three million tickets this year alone, superstar Robbie Williams has revealed he still gets nervous about taking the stage. “It absolutely petrifies me,†he told Hamish and Andy recently. “I set myself extremely high standards and I feel devastated if I let people down. That’s what makes me panic before I go on.†“There’s nobody to blame and nowhere to hide because it’s my name on the ticket.†Presently in the country for his long-awaited ‘Close Encounters’ tour, the 32-year-old singer told the guys he stopped getting female fans up on stage during the show because it gets too complicated or clingy. “It got fraught with people trying to bite me or smelly people. Smelly people are bad enough but smelly people trying to bite you is really bad…†“It was a good part of the show but it just became hazardous… People think you’ve connected with them and have a special bond and then try to move in with you,†he joked. Fans can expect Robbie to go the extra mile on this tour given his new record, Rudebox, received what he calls a “lukewarm reception in the UKâ€. “’Rudebox’ the single got ****ged off,†he explains. “This is the first album that people haven’t automatically gone out in droves and bought so you only know what you have when it’s gone.†He also denied the bonus track on the album – ‘Dickhead’ – is about his old adversary, Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher, although he did confess there is a song about the subject out there. “There is a song that I wrote in 2000 about Oasis that’s popped up and I don’t have a clue where it’s come from. I’m a little bit worried because only I’ve got a copy on my computer so I think there’s some dodgy stuff going on...†“That’s about Oasis but that’s an embarrassing song and it’s rubbish and should never be heard. http://www.2dayfm.com.au/music_news/...ip/headline_02 It makes me kinda sad what he said about Rudebox. Because that's just the truth, isn't it..?

December 2006 News
Just found this on purerobbie: :o Paul Kelso, journalist for TheGuardian believes Robbie is to open Wembley "The Coke and Walkers deals come as Wembley confirmed its first event yesterday, a gig by Muse on June 16. There are also unconfirmed plans for a concert the week before, possibly by Robbie Williams. The FA is expected to confirm England friendlies against Brazil and possibly Germany, plus the FA Cup final, by February in the hope of shifting the remaining Club Wembley seats vital to the stadium's business plan" Best not to get too excited, as it is only a rumour at this stage. Guys, cross everything you can cross... B)

She's Madonna the single
Brilliant news, thanks Lifelight! To be honest I didn't want to get too excited, fearing in the end Bongo Bong would turn out to be the next single after all. :o :puke2:

December 2006 News
So true. Ok, so maybe he is on decline in the UK; no one can really deny that, but his success everywhere else is just ignored. One could really think the UK is the only place that counts for selling records. <_< I also thought that the whole thing about "stealing devotion" and the TT fans living the dream through him was the most ridiculous and despicable thing to write. Makes it look like Rob's whole success of the last years was only based on the TT fans. Yeah, right. Mr. Morgan I suggest you go and check some figures, because it doesn't add up. When did TT ever sell over 2 mllion copies of an album for example ? Rob has had tons of people buying his records and going to his gigs that had never been TT fans in the first place. :arrr: :arrr: :arrr: And the whole "villain" - thing, don't get me started. It's just like Scotty says. Alright, so Rob hasn't been an angel but what has he ever done that would justify calling him a "villain" ?

December 2006 News
That MSN thing- couldn't get more nasty than that. :puke2: Yeah, we know. TT are the good guys that can do no wrong and Rob is the villain, that everyone hates these days and who gets what he deserves... Of course we know better Scotty but the sad thing is, the public opinion is probably the same (as in that article). If it wasn't influenced by the press, Rob wouldn't be struggling like he is now. I think we all know the bad press has had its effect. I only wonder if TT will still be that interesting in 5 years, when it is not so special anymore that they are around (like it is now after a comeback following 10 years of absence) and when they are still doing the same ballads. It's true that they are nice guys, but if you ask me they are also a bit boring (*hiding from the bricks thrown by TT fans* :o  ). And although the press might not like Rob much now they should not forget what he has given them to write about over the last 10 years - and that's because he is a complex and interesting person and maybe not an exclusively nice guy. :P

Robbie shoots new video
I think it depends. If he is in drag for the whole video, I wouldn't be too pleased. But just a scene or a few scenes like that and it could be quite amusing  , also depending on how classy they make it look. I'll reserve judgement until I have seen the video, and we don't even know if any of this is true.

Perth, Australia concerts 30/11 and 01/12
He's got really good reviews And how nice of the Austalian press to acknowledge that he can actually sing B)

LOVELIGHT - LIVE!!!
Agree with everyone. Lovelight sounds pretty good live , but not really stadium material. PS: Love our smilies with the santa hats :D

November 2006 News
Thanks, jups. Very ineresting, both the Derren Brown article and the one from the Sydney Herald.

"Rudebox" - THE ALBUM
That's another point, Tessa. What are good sales figures for other artists are a flop when it comes to Rob. Strangely with him, people or the press feel they have to comment on his "failure" whereas I read no such things about other artists who don't sell anymore than him. -_-
-
Burslem Normals
I think it's genius, made me laugh.
-
She's Madonna the single
Well, at least some hope left. Don't you think they would say it if the other part of the story (She's Madonna being a RW/PSB single) was rubbish too ... ?
-
Noel: Robbie Will Kill Himself
To be honest I don't mind as long as the whole "war"- thing doesn't involve Rob. I'm happy with TT vs. Westlife, much prefer that as if it was TT vs. Rob and we know who would win that right now... TT vs. Westlife at least makes sense in a way, because they are both boybands. Why would someone compare a solo artist to a band...
-
"Rudebox" - THE ALBUM
TessaT, obviously they talk about UK sales, only they don't mention that. It's always the same - if someone is big in the UK they are hailed as the best thing since sliced bread, even if they have no success whatsoever in the rest of Europe/the world (Girls Aloud or Westlife would come to mind for example...). But if someone like Rob has really good sales worldwide but not so much in the UK, then they are considered a flop. At least that's the way I understand their logic. -_-
