  1. This is a total riff on Alice Cooper's Bed of Nails, which by itself isn't that bad a thing, even if it is a bit naff, but somewhere along the way they sucked all the character out of it and made it utterly joyless. There were a ton of watered down Glam Metal bands that sounded much like this in 1988 and it's exactly why Grunge happened. This band has been dying a slow death for years now and I hope the rumours I've heard about this being the last album are true.

For interest the other end of the pole to win scale - Oscar Piastri 75% (3 from 4) Max Verstappen 75% (33 from 44) Emerson Fittipaldi 66.67% (4 from 6) Jody Scheckter 66.67% (2 from 3) Alberto Ascari 64.29% (9 from 14) Fernando Alonso 63.64% (14 from 22) Jenson Button 62.5% (5 from 8) Michael Schumacher 58.82% (40 from 68) Lewis Hamilton 58.65% (61 from 104) Alain Prost 54.55% (18 from 33) Sebastian Vettel 54.39% (31 from 57) Interestingly, Jim Clark is noticeably absent, despite his utter dominance. He doesn't feature in the top 10 as his percentage is 42.42% with only 14 wins from 33 poles. However, since he never gets enough recognition these days it's worth noting that - In 15 of those 33 races his car failed on him (usually whilst running at or near the front), causing a DNF. In 1 race he spun out by himself. In 2 races a mechanical failure caused him to go a lap down and had to fight his way back, finishing 3rd and 6th respectively. In 1 race his engine lost power, allowing Surtees to pass him. 1962 - 6 poles. 2 wins from pole. 4 mechanical DNFs 1963 -7 poles. 4 wins from pole. 2 mechanical DNFs. Finished 2nd in Italy after his engine lost power while leading 1964 - 5 poles. 1 win from pole. 4 mechanical DNFs. 1965 - 6 poles. 4 wins from pole. 2 mechanical DNFs 1966 - 2 poles. No wins from pole. 1 DNF due to driver error. 1 mechanical DNF 1967 - 6 poles. 2 wins from pole. 2 mechanical DNFS. Finished 6th in Belgium following a 2 minute pit stop taken whilst 20 seconds ahead of the field. Finished 3rd in Italy 3rd due to running out of fuel whilst leading on last lap, despite having been a lap down due to puncture (often considered his greatest race) 1968 -1 pole. 1 wind from pole. Killed before the 2nd race I know you can make excuses for a number of other high profile drivers and their stats but I can't think of another driver who was so comprehensively denied the level of success their talent deserved by unreliable cars.

    ^ Yes - Jean-Pierre Jarier and Stewart Lewis-Evans too, I believe

His overall stats for this are just as bad. He has only converted 5 of his 27 poles to a win. Which give's him a percentage of 18.5% Of those with multiple poles, only 4 drivers have a worse ratio - Jean-Pierre Jabouille - 16.7% (1 in 6) David Coulthard - 16.7% (2 in 12) Ralf Schumacher - 16.7% (1 in 6) Rene Arnoux - 11.1% (2 in 18)

Thought it was a decent enough race. Lando was error free for once and that made the difference

No doubt he'll hang until next year but the general expectation is the cars will be much more of a handful to drive. For that reason alone I doubt it will go well for him.

No one is destroying Lewis except himself. He's never been capable of getting extra out of a poor handling car and never shown himself to be capable of improving a bad one. The current Ferrari is not a bad car. It's a bit twitchy to be fair but Lewis requires a stable platform to excel and now he's getting on a bit his reactions aren't what they were and he can't compensate. Frankly he should really think carefully about his future as he should probably have walked away at least two years ago.

The 1961 Dutch GP is also one of only 2 in history where no driver made a pitstop. The other? Belgium 2021

I looked into this. These are the only races with no DNFs Even if you discount Belgium 2021 there's still Turkey. This also highlights the ridiculous reliability since the mid 2010's compared to previous years. 1961 Dutch GP 2005 US GP (14 DNS though) 2005 Italian GP 2011 European GP 2015 Japanese GP 2016 Chinese GP 2016 Japanese GP 2018 Chinese GP 2019 Austrian GP 2021 French GP 2021 Belgian GP (Wet 'race') 2021 Turkish GP (Intermittent rain) 2022 Hungarian GP (Bottas retired on lap 65 but classified as 20th - drizzle and light rain at the end) 2023 Miami GP 2023 Spanish GP 2023 Abu Dhabi GP (Sainz retired lap 57 but classified 18th) 2024 Bahrain GP 2024 Spanish GP 2024 Austrian GP (Norris retired but classified 20th) 2024 Dutch GP 2025 Japanese GP 2025 Belgian GP (Wet to dry race)

  20. Nova Twins and Pendulum are the only ones that interest me. Went for Nova Twins. Pendulum track is a bit too Prodigy vs PWEI in 1993 to warrant a vote. Very underwhelmed by D£aler. Lola seems to be one on, one off for me.

Hamilton, Alonso and Antonelli will all start from the pitlane after changing their PUs. Rain before the start and likely showers during the race will hopefully prevent a repeat of yesterday's very predictable result. Otherwise, if it's dry I expect Oscar to be leading by Les Combes

Strongly dislike Sprints for many reasons. The drivers consider them meaningless and most couldn't care less about the result. They reveal the competitive order for the Grand Prix before qualifying for the actual event even starts. This usually makes the main event more predictable and less interesting as a result. The majority of drivers often play it safe for fear of incurring damage that will compromise their race proper. They are usually boring, with no element of strategy or risk. The only interesting part is the first lap or two. The only interesting ones have been because of the weather, not because of the Sprint. If a driver receives a penalty or heavy damage during a Sprint it will compromise their race, even though the two events are supposed to be disconnected. They prevent teams from having the time to optimise set up - bizarrely I want to see the drivers competing at their best - in favour of a gimmick. Several drivers have been disqualified from successful races due to the lack of time the team was allowed to adjust their set up for the specific circuit. They don't respect the history and tradition of Formula 1 and Grand Prix racing. They diminish the prestige of a Grand Prix win. They take away the equality of the circuits. All GP weekends should be of equal value points wise and not have some give more points than others. They exist primarily to make money. The lie that they are to give fans better value for money is revealed by the increased costs of tickets for Sprint hosting GPs. I genuinely enjoy watching practice and seeing how a cars setup is dialed in by the best drivers over the 3 sessions and I miss it on Sprint weekends. At least they're not reverse grids though, and I can ignore them if I choose.
