Heartworms - Glutton For Punishment
Having spent a bit of time with the album now, I'm warming to it, if still a little underwhelmed. It's definitely not as interesting as her earlier work and suggests she's going in a more mainstream direction on the whole but it's still better than a lot of other similarly styled acts right now and I'm looking forward to seeing her live again soon. I do feel the album is a little light on tracks, with only 8 actual songs and at around 35 minutes long, it feels a bit more like an EP than a fully realised album.

Not really. Released in November and with a Nativity themed video but the song itself bears no relation to Christmas.

Songs that have reached the Top 10 in 3+ Decades
When Running Up That Hill charted in 2012 I think it's worth noting that it is a different recording to the one in 1985 and 2022

Trump: Folie à Deux (US Politics Thread)
Did you miss the part where Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014? Russia has been conducting military operations on Ukrainian soil ever since. It was the Biden administration that brokered the Gaza peace deal after many months of trying. If you think Trump being elected was the sole reason you are misguided.

Buzzjack's Ultimate UK Number 7 Single - 1st Round
Sad to see the Sisters miss out too. It's far from their best but they were a hugely important act in my youth.

Buzzjack's Ultimate UK Number 7 Single - 1st Round
Surprised it didn't get mentioned coming so soon after Jump but that guitar riff is Van Halen again. From the song Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love

2025 Formula One Season
Glad to see the back of him tbh. I always liked him back in the 90s but sometime since he stopped racing he's lost all objectivity and become absorbed in his own self. Worse of all he developed an obvious bias and lack of impartiality which wasn't compatible with the job of steward. In other news apparently Lewis Hamilton has been having a difficult time testing the 2023 Ferrari, the result of which was he managed to crash it the other day. He was unhurt but Ferrari are playing down the incident under the learning a new car angle. Whilst this is undoubtedly the case it does raise question about whether Lewis is going to find it easy to adapt to a new design discipline at the Scuderia. Lastly, if anyone is thinking of swinging by the F1 exhibition in London I'd say it's worth checking out. I went today and whilst it is definitely aimed at newer fans, (there's little the long term or dedicated fan won't be aware of) there are some iconic cars on display. Sadly, nothing pre 1961 but you do get the Phil Hill's Sharknose Ferrari 156, Fittipaldi's Lotus 72, Alan Jones' Williams FW07, Senna's Mclaren MP4/4, Hakkinen's McLaren MP4/14, Verstappen's RB16B, Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes W09 and a stack of helmets and overalls to go with it. The grand finale is what remains of Romain Grosjean's Haas VF-20 from Bahrain 2020. It does fall in to the trap of saying F1 begins in 1950 and skips over a lot of important stuff but it's a decent primer for new fans and a good substitute for seeing the cars if you can't get down to Goodwood.

Indie Track of the Week
I'm not going to presume to speak for others but please don't take my comments as a complaint. They're not. I definitely appreciate what you're doing here and I agree that picking only 8 is a tough task to narrow it down. The fact that others are engaing with the thread on any level suggests people are interested in the idea. My mentions of other artists not included is only a naming of what I'm liking from new releases, whether it will factor into what gets included in future weeks is up to you. Happy if it does, happy if it doesn't. At the very least the threa highlights multiple new releases and some that people may not be aware of, so that's a plus either way.

Seconding the lack of Viagra Boys. Lead single from a new album and all that. Would have made it a tough choice to pick a fave too

Elon Musk's descent into insanity
Tellingly the Roman Salute doesn't exist. It was a Hollywood fabrication for movies and has no historical record to validate this. The salute was then picked up by... you guessed it - Benito Mussolini, from where the NSDAP took inspiration and gave it their own spin. The 'from the heart to the sun' salute IS a fascist salute except when used in Hollywood basically. Even the USA banned the Bellamy Salute as it was similar to the Nazi one.

Nova Twins - Parasites & Butterflies
Love the Novas and whilst this is among their more straightforward tracks I can definitely see myself enjoying this as much as anything they've done. Great to have them back
