Really? So someone who never released a solo record in his life still came that high? I guess it was allowed based on those songs that raided his vaults.

    At least half of them

The first sentence isn't strictly true. I'm going to assume you're referring to 'moving under braking', it is a myth that there is a rule against it - there isn't. Only a vague concensus between the drivers, which can be interpreted differently, and Verstappen's onbaords show he was was correct when he claimed he only applied the brakes after he stopped moving the wheel. I'm also not sure how you get 5 incidents when the best I can factor in is 3 with contact on the 3rd and final possible infraction. That rule on moving under braking was discarded years ago and replaced by the following - 33.4 At no time may a car be driven unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a manner which could be deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers or any other person. As you can see this leaves it open very much to interpretation which the stewards present clearly felt was within the allowed framework, and they have all the data we don't see. You can argue about inconsistencies and that's a fair comment but that is inevitable when you have a rotating panel of stewards. Whether that is correct is another discussion. And whilst several former drivers have suggested Verstappen went beyond the spirit of the rules a number of his contemporaries have said it wasn't that bad - https://www.racefans.net/2024/07/04/norris-...portion-rivals/ Norris himself has said he overreacted too - https://www.racefans.net/2024/07/04/norris-...limits-penalty/ The 10 second penalty was the harshest allowed under the circumstances according to Johnny Herbert who was the steward representing a former driver, as it was classified as 'Forcing a driver off the circuit or causing an incident'. It's worth noting that Herbert has consistently been highly critical of Verstappen for years and among the harsher stewards for penalties, so I'm inclined to believe him here. I also agree with Norris that Max should probably have been penalised for going off track to stay ahead. I thought Lando's move was fair and solid. Lastly, there was no need for Norris to retire the car given the damage he had sustained in the incident. It was his own pace on returning to the pits that destroyed the car and the actual contact with Verstappen was merely a puncture that could have been solved easily, allowing him to score points - potentially more than Verstappen. So the reality is that it's up to the stewards on whether he broke the rules, and they decided it was once - causing a collision - and that his driving was not sufficiently dangerous (whatever Andrea Stella might think, it's not up to him). Norris complaining doesn't make him right no matter how much he does it Personally my interpretation was yes to causing a collision - that was clearly predominantly his fault - and I'd have given him a second penalty for leaving the track and retaining the lead. The rest was borderline but not overly dangerous, especially given it was in a slow corner like turn three.

Yeah it was a lot of fuss over nothing. If it had of been Sainz and Russell nobody would be talking about it at all

Ultravox came close to getting votes from me as they were very important to me at one time. The first five albums were all great and Ha!-Ha!-Ha! is close to being in my top ten albums of all time but I'm not overly on anything beyond 1981.

Personally, I don't mind the way Max drives. I'll admit he's crossed the line a few times - notably Brazil and Jeddah 2021 - and whilst he was a bit rough around the edges when he began in F1, his hard and aggressive style has been rather lacking in the sport for some time. Certainly Vettel, Button, Raikkonen and to a lesser extent Alonso, Hamilton and Rosberg have all been a bit too 'no please, after you' for my liking. Verstappen's style is much more in the Senna, Mansell, Piquet, Schumacher, Montoya mold where if you want to pass them you have to earn it. Sometimes there'll be mistakes but that's part of racing. Sure, he was predominantly to blame on Sunday, I'm not arguing that, but the collision was as much a misjudgement as it was anything else. Onboards show he was correct that he didn't move after braking, but he did adopt his line later than Norris and that it was one that drifted slightly to the outside as the corner arrived. Indeed at the point of contact he's turning right but he hadn't left quite enough room. Norris chose not to back out this time, when he could have and whilst it can be fairly argued he could expect more room, Max could have covered the corner exit as he had the shorter line and hadn't braked as heavily. Max now knows Lando is willing to fight hard for it and he'll respect him for it like in the way he does Leclerc. Charles proved back in karting that he was willing to have a collision if it came to it and you'll notice that the pair now duel very hard but fairly.

Nice to see Madness and The Pogues in there. Rum, Sodomy and the Lash is one of my favourite albums

Genuinely shocked at the lack of love for Pixies. Doolittle is one of the best albums of the 80s. Also glad to see The Jam in there and that first Glasvegas album is pretty great

KISS are a bit of a mixed bag for me. The early stuff is great but by the time the 80s came around their stuff doesn't really interest me

Great to see the Specials and Levellers in this batch. The latter's legendary 1992 Glastonbury show is still among the best gigs I've ever experienced and their 1994 headline slot apparently still holds the record for biggest Glastonbury audience ever and to be fair it was pretty mental too.

Technically, it's not a Rod Stewart cover as his version is also a cover. Originally by Crazy Horse (Neil Young's sometime backing group) and their version is, for me, easily the best.

If you're going to allow Trinidad born Billy Ocean you can also add Guyana born Eddy Grant as they both moved here about the same age.

Agreed, Newey's been designing cars to be as quick as he can for his entire career and never before has he built one around a specific driver's style. The argument also ignores the fact Verstappen was on pace the moment he stepped in to a Red Bull, one whose design had been an ongoing project from before he joined. It would not be cost effective and counter productive for the team anyway. Additionally if you look at Pre-season testing you'll tend to notice that Perez and Verstappen begin the year with similar times (Max is usually slightly quicker to be fair) and this follows in to the opening races, but once Max gets a handle on the car the gap between them widens noticeably and then by the latter half of the season Perez starts to get to grips with it himself and it closes up again. Verstappen just has a more adaptable and intuitive driving ability as well as being naturally quick. None of his previous teammates have ever suggested there was any kind of handicap given to them either. The gaps between the two are similar to those we've seen before between say, Senna and Berger, Mansell and Patrese, Alonso and Raikkonen, Hamilton and Kovalainen etc. but nobody ever made similar claims back then. it's just one driver is much more capable.

Norris cost himself the victory. If you make a mess of the start and get swamped like that there's no-one else to blame. Verstappen's start wasn't that great either but he still bet Lando to the line. Russell's start was good and he used the slipstream to his advantage. The most interesting thing right now is there's no clear best car out there, even if the Red Bull is probably the best all-rounder, largely due to how kind it is on the tyres, but the McLaren is surely the fastest, especially on a lighter fuel load and handles better generally. Ferrari and Mercedes are not too far behind - circuit dependent. Catalunya is a traditionally strong circuit for Red Bull but only Max seems capable of extracting the best out of the car, and he's no fan of its handling this year either, yet a perfectly decent driver like Perez is showing how difficult it is to handle. The Red Bull is clearly a very good car but exists on a knife edge for top performance and it takes a special driver to deal with it. There are definite echoes of the 1994 and '95 Benetton around the RB20.

I'd argue there's a very strong case for Philip Hinchcliffe's tenure as producer being the best era too, especially with Robert Holmes as script editor

Nice to see Ramones getting some additional love too. They're one of the most influential bands ever, not only spearheading the New York Punk scene but their debut album and the follwing July 1976 London show helped galvanize the burgeoning London scene too.

Adam & the Ants were my first ever favourite band and so close to making the list for me but I really hate most of that 3rd album.
