You're right. Got BOSS and the Keller Machine's names mixed up. It's been a while since last viewing

Doctor Who • The Legend of Ruby Sunday
A lot of online chatter is saying Sutekh, who is one of the shows greatest ever villains but RTD said there was a connection to the third Doctor which doesn't fit with that theory as he was a fourth Doctor story. If it's a third Doctor villain there aren't a load that have much potential but a few possibilities - Chronos, Azal or the Draconians would be good but others like the Ogrons or Aggedor don't seem likely. Most of his other villains have reappeared subsequently so are unlikely, unless it refers to a specific individual like Azaxyr but that wouldn't seem likely either. Ignoring the third Doctor reference I thought it was going to be Hecuba as she' the Toymaker's sister and would make sense. Additionaly the Meep referred to 'the boss' who could be BOSS from Mind of Evil but that was seemingly destroyed, plus not that memorable as a villain.

Sainz is reportedly in serious negotiation with Williams, which actually looks a decent shout

Actually, yes. Don't know why that one slipped my mind. Must be getting old.

2024 Formula One Season
There's still a genuine possibility that Verstappen could be tempted to Mercedes given the new regulations (Newey departing, Red Bull's own engine being untested and a greater focus on the power unit for 2026) would suggest that there's every possibility that Mercedes could provide a better package than Red Bull might. Whilst I've little doubt that Verstappen could see off any other current driver in an equal car, there are a few on the grid who would give him a hard time with it - Leclerc, Hamilton, Norris, Piastri and Alonso mainly - so the unwritten agreement is that Red Bull want to keep things calm to stop him looking elsewhere. After all we've seen many times in the past how two elite drivers, free to race in a top team can be disastrous and even tragic. Every body loves it but it's actually pretty rare and in my nearly 50 years of watching I've only seen it three times - Alonso/Hamilton, Senna/Prost, Villeneuve/Pironi (sorry Nico, just not quite there for me).

Agree with almost everything there but not sure Perez is that bad, more bang average but qaulifying is a weakness, especially when temps are lower. Sainz wasn't seriously entertained at Red Bull because of he and Max's past experience with each other. Marko described their pairing as toxic so it was not an option apparently.

2024 Formula One Season
Norris was in a very good position before the SC but in a reverse of Miami, this time luck went against him. Not certain he'd have still won it but would have been in a strong position and in control of his chances at least. George blew his own race once again with 3 errors - 2 off tracks and an ill timed attempt on Piastri. Hamilton was the better of the 2 Mercs yesterday and had he not messed up qualifying would has been a threat. Presumably Perez has a whole bunch of unreleased screenshots from Horner because his new contract is hard to fathom on driving alone (I know Red Bull don't see many other options right now). Verstappen put in another impressive and mature performance yesterday to win in difficult conditions with (somewhat in Checo's defence) a car that has looked some way short of the best this year, since everyone brought their upgrades along.

2024 Formula One Season
Decent race. Probably the right result but I feel Lewis ruined his chances on Saturday somewhere. Nice to see Ocon hasn't learned anything either. Gasly had a slim chance to attack Ricciardo at the end but Esteban purposely delayed the switch long enough to screw it up. He probably still doesn't understand why he's being dropped

Doctor Who • Rogue
I'm in slightly two minds about this one. Overall I would say I enjoyed it and there were some very good elements like the setting, production design, costumes and the lead performances. On the flip side there were some reservations - Rogue was well played but felt a bit Jack Harkness lite and I'm not sure we really need that again but if he returns it has potential to be interesting. I've never been a fan of romantic subplots for The Doctor and once again I feel it acted to the detriment of the actual story. It was well acted but inevitably relegated the Chuldur to a background concern for half the runtime. And speaking of the antagonists, the were ok at first but could have been far more interesting yet became generic unthreatening and largely irrelevant in the end. I'm not really a big fan of contemporary music in the show and this did nothing to change my mind, although the orchestral interpretations were less offensive. I'm really not sure what to make of the inclusion of Richard E Grant's Shalka Doctor in the 'Doctor's lineup' especially after his role as The Great Intelligence. It'll be interesting to see if this is ever played on further. And starting to get a proper feel for this Doctor's character now - he's charming when he wants to be but he's prone to running away, desperately vain and very emotional, to the point he'll burst in to tears quite frequently. And he still feels far too human and removed from an ancient alien traveller who sees all of time, all the time. Overall one of the better episodes from a so far underwhelming season which started very well but sidelined itself by switching focus from the story to trying to be clever and emotional.

2024 Formula One Season
The new rules announced today definitely lok to be a step in the right direction, especially with the binning of DRS. Whilst they haven't quite gone the way of embracing the far superior Push to Pass system, it nearly there. X & Y Aero looks interesting too, but the big win is cars getting smaller and lighter finally. And personally I'm happy to see Tsunoda staying next year but I would have liked to see what he can do in the Red Bull, he's arguably in the 2-3 most improved drivers on the grid in the last couple of years, whereas others appear to be going backwards.

In God's Country was a hit. It was a US single that charted here on import. it's in the list already, thankfully

The U2 Rate
A question about Even Better Than the Real Thing springs to mind. It charted twice in 2 different versions. Are we only to rate the standard single version and not the Oakenfold remix? Also Bullet the Blue Sky is a great choice. That's one down from my list of 5 potentials to suggest.

World War Three
Been through all this sort of noise before with the original Cold War. Ask anyone of my age (Gen X - remember us? We were the ones whose parents needed to be reminded we existed and told we'd all be killed by nuclear war, Ozone failure or AIDS) and you're very likely to get a shrug of the shoulders and some reminiscing. I'm not saying there aren't valid concerns but this isn't unfamiliar territory and this doesn't feel anywhere near as tense or imminent as in the past, at least not to me or my friends. Are we close to a war? We've been in a 2nd Cold War for about 15 years and Britain at least, has been involved in global conflicts almost everyday since I can remember. Are we closer to a war with Russia? The closest since the aftermath of Chernobyl yes, but not closer than the preceding years or at least it doesn't feel like it.

RESULTS: The Best Song Contest in the World... Ever! Part VI
Excellent hosting and a fine set of songs. Big thanks to Julian for the 12, bumped me back to a respectable finish in the end. Congrats to Dobbo, as soon as I saw that song was in it was always in the favourites to win. A great track from a ban who arrived just too late to be massive

Ah right. I thought it never appeared on any of those Shine or Best Albums releases so assumed it was largely forgotten. Out of curiosity, what was the other song you expected? Rialto was the one I expected

RESULTS: The Best Song Contest in the World... Ever! Part VI
Yeah my top score was no-brainer, after the top three it was really very tight and could've gone almost any order on a different day. Just happy to see some people liking Spacehog too. I always thought it was a cracking track that inexplicably got ignored at the time.

2024 Formula One Season
I could see Merc being an option. Toto is still very much involved with him and a short term deal in the likely event of missing out on Verstappen or Sainz leaves him as an option until Antonelli is ready
