Of course he'll take it if that's how it comes. It's just not how he wants to win it. And to win it the way he wants to, he needs to up his game somewhat. Otherwise he'll be filed alongside the likes of Villeneuve, Rosberg, Damon Hill etc as among the least deserving champions

It won't just be those 10 points from Hungary and Monza though. Lando has thrown away plenty of opportunities to score more through his own mistakes and failures to capitalise on having the best car. Look at Imola, Spain, Silverstone, Canada and Austria for example. If the rest of the season plays out like the last 5 or so races and Norris does come out champion, there will be a fair number of people saying he's not truly worthy of it. Pretty sure he'd not want it to be that way. Noticeable too that McLaren are refusing to give him number one status only to 'bias' him. There's a lot to read in to that.

Sugababes were an excellent Pop group between 2000 and 2005. Sadly, once Mutya left they dropped in to being pretty generic and lost their edge but that period alone probably marks them out as at least musically and creatively, the best British girl group of them all.

For me Little Mix are a slightly above average, yet very well marketed Pop group but the have two absolute belters in their canon. I'm also reliably informed they are (or at least were a few years ago) all very down to Earth and lovely individuals.

I know there a delicious irony in it, isn't there

You absolutely did. Apologies. My bad.

Oh really? OK, it's said to be about the excessive debauchery of having a good time but is particularly about gay sex, partying and doing cocaine. The video is fairly unsubtle in the way Freddie is dressed - the Mineshaft (a gay nightclub) T-shirt and the stereotypical look of the time Brian May has said it marks the point Freddie got swept away with the drugs, casual sex and partying that ultimately led to him getting HIV

Oh yeah, for me Steps are naff are as naff as it gets. Not even ironicaly enjoyable. Faye was lovely though

Everybody knows what Don't Stop Me Now is about... Interestingly, Brian May absolutely hates it, not for its subject matter but for where it led Freddie

When you factor in his ability as a live perfomer too, it's very hard to disagree. There's a reason he regularly tops polls of greatest frontperson ever and Queen's Live Aid set as the best show ever played by anyone.

I loved Queen as a kid, right up until about '84 but the older I got the more I realised a lot of their stuff is really quite throwaway and lacking in depth. Stuff like Bicycle Race, Don't Stop Me Now, A Kind of Magic or Flash are pretty shallow although not without some fun. Yet on the flip side they were capable of some seriously inventive tracks like Bohemian Rhapsody and Innuendo. Between that there's loads of great Pop singles, a handful of great Rock songs, some real hidden gems (39 or Love of my Life for exampe) and at least one proper classic album in A Night at the Opera. Freddie was a genuinely fascinating person (those parties!) and a rare talent. An exceptional vocal range with both a power and delicacy at the drop of a hat which the accapella version of Under Pressure really shows this off. A band of four true talents whose legacy remains despite the seriously insulting efforts of May and Taylor since 1991. They're one of those bands where I don't think I've met anyone who would call them their favourite band but everybody just sort of liked.

It's impossible to realistically argue against the inclusion of The Beatles in the top 10 of any 'greatest music' list and as said they are arguably both directly and indirectly, the most influential band in music history (rivalled only perhaps by The Velvet Underground). Whilst not even close to my favourite band they are undeniably imperious and almost everyone likes something by them. They weren't always universlly adored, particularly in sections of the '80s alt scene but time has only deepened people's respect for them.

For me the Stones were really good early on, brillinat from '65' to '73, good for a couple more years and sucked from '76 onwards bar the occasional track. Basically if it doesn't have Brian Jones or Mick Taylor on it you can forget it.

During a recent discussion every single team voted in favour of a post season race (presumably held at Abu Dhabi around the end of season test) for junior and rookie drivers using the current season's cars. This would give everyone an opportunity to look at the younger drivers, give them experience and super license points and would not have any kind of negative impact on a World Championship race. I like this idea
  16. I really like Dead Sara (I entered them in one of the very first Nuggets or Unknown Pleasures on here years ago) so I'm actually interested in this. Haven't heard it yet though. Hopefully it sounds more like their early to mid period sound rather than later stuff.

Don't mind Destiny's child. There's a few songs I really like - Survivor, Bootylicious, Independent Women for example and Beyonce has prven herself a genuine creative talent. The less I say abour Coldplay the better

It is of course entirely possible that it is written in to their contracts that the team cannot be seen to favour one driver over the other. It wouldn't be the first time ever. This may mean that a written stipulation exists whereby whoever leads at the end of the first lap, pit stop etc can not be obliged to give up position for the end of the race.

It's true that Lando has beaten Oscar in qualifying more often in this first half of the season and he may be the better qualifier but it;s hard to tell. Last season Piastri had a fairly ordinary start to the season and then matched Norris in the qualy head to head 5-5 over the final 10 races, having arguably the stronger finish. Possibly he improved over the year or perhaps the circuits in the latter half of the calendar suited him better compared to the early ones. As for this year it is not without note that Oscar has not been allowed to run the same upgrades as Lando across several races and so it's not a truly fair comparison. These upgrades from Miami onwards have notably turned the McLaren from the 3rd of 4th best car into the dominant one, yet Piastri was always several parts behind at first. Add to that he out-qualified Norris at Imola but received a grid penalty - for which he was blameless - for impeding Magnussen and was unable to set a time in Q3 for Spain., then you can see it's not as clear cut as the stats might suggest. It's true though that Zandvoort was a bad weekend for Oscar but Leclerc was the star driver that day for a reason. I don't think McLaren should prioritise Piastri over Norris certainly, but firstly you have to assume that McLaren know more than anyone about their drivers as they have all the data, and it's not without merit to say that the Australian has been the better driver in themajority of the most recent races. If they begin to tell him to pull over in numerous races for Norris to win, it would be not only a really bad look, but could potentially damage the relationship with the most promising young driver currently on the grid over a WDC that McLaren have already claimed is an improbability for Norris. I'm not as sure on that given Red Bull's recent problems. It's a tough call for sure and one they need to make very soon but one that also would need to come with a number of assurances from McLaren to placate Oscar.

Oasis were glorious for two years but lost some of that spark pretty quickly yet still turned out some great songs thereafter. They are also one of the most important bands of the last 30 years, and actually have a case for topping that list too. The Saturdays left no impression on me. I heard a stack of their singles as they came out and I forgot them pretty quickly. I can name two members (Rochelle and Frankie) and register they covered Depeche Mode's IJCGE but beyond that I know nothing about them. But this is Buzzjack and about the only place in the world that still remembers them fondly.

Not really a fan of the last two but they had their moments. All Saints were far preferable to Spice Girls for me, and Never Ever is a perfect Pop song. Equally, Take That's Back For Good is pretty sublime. Fleetwood Mac are something of an oddity. Rumours is obviously brilliant, Rhiannon I truly adore and I like Tusk, Tango and the self titled, as well as a lot of the early singles but I could happily never hear again anything they did between 1970 and 1975 or after 1987. Stevie Nicks however is one of the all time great female singers.

They got sued and had to change the words. Apparently that was enough. In hindsight they should have asked for more I guess
