  1. With so much discussion about the lack of diversity among the jury members at last year's Final, maybe the EBU will do something about that issue and that may benefit Ireland too, with this entry.
  2. So, what may scupper this is if we end up in the same semi as Slovenia and we certainly don't want to be in the first half if that does happen.
  3. This cannot be happening. Ireland doesn't do this. :w00t:

It's an old skool collection, I'm afraid.
  5. Delighted to see Gouryella doing well. I also voted for LFO and Quadrophonia.

Edited from Wikipedia Rave music refers to the late 1980s/early 1990s genres of house, new beat, breakbeat, acid house, techno and hardcore techno, which were the first genres of music to be played at rave parties. The genre "rave", also known as hardcore by early ravers, first appeared amongst the UK "acid" movement during the late 1980s at warehouse parties and other underground venues, as well as on UK pirate radio stations. Another genre called "rave" during the early 1990s, was the Belgian hardcore techno music that emerged from new beat, when techno became the main style in the Belgian dance scene The "rave" genre would develop into oldschool hardcore, which lead onto newer forms of rave music such as drum and bass, 2-step and happy hardcore as well as other hardcore techno genres, such as gabber and hardstyle

  10. I have been a big fan of Slovenian entries in the last decade or so (2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020) but this isn't doing much for me so far.

You Stole the Sun was on the long list and stayed in contention for inclusion for a long time.

That might need to be done on a decade by decade basis. I dont think we could do all of pop music justice in 85 tracks

I just listened to it again to make sure I wasn't being overly harsh. I'm afraid there's a lot similarities to my ears.

Honey to the Bee fell by the wayside during an evening of ruthless culling. It felt a touch derivative to me and not at all essential. It may have been one of her better respected songs but it still lives in the shadow of Never Ever. Shania was certainly suggested as someone who should have two appearances. As was Fat Boy Slim. It's a rule we will no doubt have to break at some point.

Amazing work, gd. A year that you're clearly passionate about. From Cassius to Chicane is as good a 7-song run as any I have ever seen on any compilation. All-time greatness. Fans of 90s dance should look forward to our next compilation which should be with us next week. Nice one! Sorted!

My own 1999 number 1s. This does obscure the fact that Out of the Blue and No Scrubs were my second and third favorite tracks of the year but they were released in the same week as Windowlicker so never made it to number 1. 16 Jan 99 Robbie Williams - No Regrets - 2 wks 30 Jan 99 Three Drives On A Vinyl - Greece 2000 - 1 wk 06 Feb 99 Placebo - Every You, Every Me - 2 wks 20 Feb 99 UNKLE feat.
