gooddelta ranks the UK No.1s of 1999
I actually feel is was a very weak year for number 1s. The only ones I would listen to out of choice would be Armand Van Helden feat. Duane Harden - You Don't Know Me Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Dee) Christina Aguilera - Genie In A Bottle ATB - 9PM (Till I Come) Robbie Williams - She's The One and I haven't listened to those in years

Some comments. I'm happy to see Flat Beat and Praise You so low. I never liked either. Baby One More Time took ages to grow on me. My favourite Backstreet Boys song is The Call. I really need to re-assess Five's output. Trance was clearly setting the world a light thanks mostly to Ferry Corsten. I believe 9am sold the most in week 1 of any instrument ever (if you don't count the spoken word parts).

I think it's because you place zero value on the music part of a song and place 100% on simple melodies. You recently stated that The Prodigy's Firestarter is your least favorite number 1 of the 90. ....or something along those lines. It's among my top 5 number 1s of the 90s. Because it's amazingly well constructed, mostly from samples and is such a coherent piece that most people wouldn't hear that. I don't hold back from saying that I think Liam Howlet made some of the most incredible music ever made.

That's true but when you value the opinion of the people who are commenting you can factor that in, also.

That very much contravenes the the Geneva Convection of BJSC. Plus no sane individual would steal one of my potential entries.

Spolidifestivalen 3 - BJSC 181
I've been doing this for 2 years and it's only become less clear what does well. The general consensus is - send something you really like (compliant with the Veto Framework https://www.buzzjack.com/forums/topic/196914-the-4th-bjsc-veto-framework/#comment-5594323 ) ...and hope for the best.

Thanks. By all accounts, it's a weak selection. Strangely I loved them all at first listen way back then.

Honesty is appreciated. None of these may make it through.

Looks like we have a 3 way tie for first, and indeed last place. Zero votes each.

Spolidifestivalen 3 - BJSC 181
In the ever relevant words of Nicki Minaj, let's do this one more time. Welcome to Castle Tenebria, the Northernmost castle in the Empire, for the third edition of Spolidifestivalen where we ask you to help choose our entry for the 181st edition of the BuzzJack Song Contest. The theme this time is 1990s album tracks with female vocalists. To open, we have the incomparable Sinead O'Connor with a song that displays her customary stark vulnerability, Scorn Not His Simplify. Secondly, we have a track taken from Catatonia's 1999 album Equally Cursed and Blessed. Couched in harp and orchestral flourishes, Bulimic Beats is windswept and transfixing Finally, we have Saint from Texas' 1999 album The Hush, which shimmers and radiates a delicate warmth. Please give them your full attention and assess them with your exquisite taste. Yours, Imperially The Spodic Empire BJSC Delegation.

Such a great year for singles. There's plenty of stuff that had to be left off this because of how much great music came out that year.

How was 2025 for you in BJSC?
Continually frustrated this year. Despite a lot of qualifications, our entries often underperform in the final despite predictions of moderate success. Our entries lack impact or crossover appeal. When we enter something with more impact - Zeitgeist or Andrew WK, for example - they fail to qualify. Tracey Thorn was our only entry to crack the top 30.
