  1. I love the extended version of The Power of Love.
  2. I entered the following prompt into ChatGPT Can you provide me with a list of 20 obscure cult albums from the 90s that were critically acclaimed including 5 each from pop, indie, dance music and r'n'b? The following list was provided B12 - Time Tourist Codeine - The White Birch D'Angelo - Brown Sugar FSOL - Dead Cities Groove Theory - Groove Theory LFO - Sheath Lush - Split Matthew Sweet - Girlfriend Maxwell - Urban Hang Suite Mazzy Star - So Tonight That I Might See Me'Shell NdegéOcello - Plantation Lullabies My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult - Sexplosion! Saint Etienne - Foxbase Alpha Scanner - Mass Observation Sunscreem - Change or Die System 7 - 777 Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque The Beloved - Happiness Tony! Toni! Toné! - Sons of Soul Tricky - Pre-Millennium Tension All these albums are available to listen to on Spotify. I think it could be interesting if we were to take an album each month to listen to in our own time and then come back to this thread for a discussion or perhaps a listen through, depending on what you guys would prefer. Any suggestions or ideas? Going through the list, I only own one album - Pre-Millennial Tension and I dont think I ever listened to it. I'm also familiar with D'Angelo Future Sound of London LFO Lush Maxwell Mazzy Star Saint Etienne Sunscreem Teenage Fanclub The Beloved Tony! Toni! Toné! But haven't listened to their albums on the list.
  3. The Spodic Empire will return to the contest after the recent break.
  4. I can see it clearing 5 million in the first week.
  5. A challenging theme for me also but I'm currently searching for an entry.
  6. I totally forgotten about these results. 7th place is a wonderful result for The Spodic Empire.
  7. I did like his BGT audition but the studio version was very dull.
  8. Glasovi Spodičnega imperija so bili oddani.

Burial - one of the most influential artists of the 21st century. No weeks in the singles chart. One week in the albums chart.

This is a perfect example of how things get polarised. I could have worded my post to be clearer but I didn't and I could well have been roasted alive for defending a transphobe, or even being transphobic myself. In turn, I'd be left with the impression that I couldn't have a civil conversation with someone about the comments left by Roisin Murphy and that the trans brigade is a zero tolerance, aggressive and unreasonable faction. And if I was a moderate right-winger I'd be picking sides pretty quickly. The fault was my own, Dr. B. :(

When I asked why she was being called a TERF I wasn't at all condoning what she said or even disputing that she is transphobic. It was the use of the term TERF to describe her that I questioned. I understand the term to mean a feminist who holds the view that transwomen are not women. I'll be chatting to my trans and non-binary mates on Friday when I see them. It will be interesting to find out their view. They'll no doubt educate me on puberty blockers too.

I generally think that social media and the internet in general is an inadequate platform to discuss contentious issues because body language and tone of voice aren't taken into account. All it takes is a slightly misjudged comment and both sides become polarised and it's all over.

I didn't mean to accuse you of having cis privilege. :(

I agree 100%. But maybe that's my cis privilege showing.

How can she be a TERF when nothing she said was about trans women? It was about puberty blockers and she termed trans young people as little mixed up kids.
  16. does anyone know if this listen through is going ahead tonight?
  17. I'll be free for a listen through tonight
  18. I'd have said Last Christmas was.
  19. That is a good idea.
  20. The bands I recognise are all of similar genres - indie/alternative. This may not be suitable for this forum.
  21. Of course. The book club idea could work but it's a lot less interactive. Perhaps there really isn't the interest in a listen through to albums from artists that might be leaser known. To give a sample of the list Neutral Milk Hotel - "On Avery Island" (1996) Codeine - "The White Birch" (1994) Mazzy Star - "So Tonight That I Might See" (1993) Sebadoh - "Bakesale" (1994) The Magnetic Fields - "The Charm of the Highway Strip" (1994) Stereolab - "Emperor Tomato Ketchup" (1996) The Microphones - "The Glow Pt. 2" (1997)
  22. Good point.
  23. I was considering not posting the list to maintain curiosity and anticipation.
  24. I entered the following prompt into ChatGPT Can you provide me with a list of 50 obscure cult albums from the 90s that were critically acclaimed without repeating an artist? Of the 50 albums that were returned in the list, I only own 3 of them and have heard parts of another 2. There is a lot to be discovered here - for me, at least. Is there anything we could do here as a collective - maybe take one a week and do a listen through. Perhaps a book club type where we go away and listen to one each month? Maybe a sample play list that we could listen to and review? Any ideas?
