What was somewhat more impressive was that #melfest was trending in the UK the whole time the show was on, sometimes trending higher than both Saturday Night Takeaway and Let's Dance related trends.

I've only heard positive things being said about it in Europe as well. Maybe it's because the UK's taste in music and Europe's taste is quite different? A lot of British artists who aren't hugely successful here do much better in Europe, and maybe this is another instance of that?
