Germany 2013
That was AMAZING! p4_2lQ6MWZA 1:50  The blonde one was so happy too! And then they went to Estonia, where the sun sets at about 1am apparently :kink:

Not forgetting infamous "Cynd-ooch" either!

Germany 2013
Euphorius doesn't even come close to the hilarious Pandora-Scooch showdown in 2007... PaTcJU9mXnU NBOnDcmckdc I do find it amusing how there was a segment about this on BBC Breakfast this morning though. The BBC have broadcast the German entry before they've even bothered to tell us how/who/what they are choosing as our entrant  People who don't follow the selections closely must be wondering how Germany have an entry and we don't! And moreso, how Germany have managed to land Cascada who a lot of Brits tend to think is a British act!

Russia 2013
I actually prefer that version of Skyfall to Adele's. A superb choice for Russia and I can't wait to hear the song!

United Kingdom 2013
Defiantly not means she's defying not doing it, ie. doing it. Either that, or she just can't spell (which is more likely) :kink:

Greece 2013
I don't mind it, although it was the worst choice of the 4. They'll still come top 10 with it though probably!

Ghosty's Monthly Chart #01
With increasingly little spare time, I've decided to reduce publishing my chart here from once a week to once a month. The monthly chart will be based on my weekly charts which I'll still be working out for my personal record, but I don't have as much time as I'd like to respond to comments on my weekly charts so I won't be publishing them. I also don't have as much time as I'd like to respond to other people's charts either. This was why I only replied to charts of those who commented on my chart each week and even that process was incredibly rushed and shoehorned in at some point between Sunday and Tuesday. At least by doing it this way I can respond to more people's charts once or twice a month rather than quickly replying to the same charts every week (I don't at all mind commenting on the same charts each week - I just don't really have much time to). The monthly chart will be based on average chart positions for songs that chart between the first and last Sunday's of each month. There will be controls to eliminate any bias to songs that only chart for one or two weeks during that period. Each monthly chart will be posted after the second Sunday of the following month, so this month's chart is coming a week later than normal. So the chart being published here is basically the January chart, and the February chart will follow around March 11th. Hope that makes sense. Apologies to anyone who followed my weekly chart closely, but the monthly chart should hopefully be an interesting read as there should be a quick turnover of new entries each month. As I said, the only reasons I'm doing it are because it saves me time and allows me to comment on more poster's charts, but allows me to do that whenever I have a convenient time. Good Delta Hit Parade: 18th February 2013
Hey! My comments: 16. Janet Leon - Heartstrings (NEW) (CR-16) I would have liked to see it progress to AC at least, but it really wasn't the revolutionary potential winner the media made it out to be. Such a weak chorus! Good move Agnes I'd say, or this would have well and truly finished her career! 32. Icona Pop feat Charli XCX - I Love It (32) (CR-20-OUT-15-6-8-12-14-28-32-32) A UK release in March for this then! I hope it's the smash hit it deserves to be here! 46. Martin Rolinski - In And Out Of Love (NEW) (CR-46) Pleased this got further, my second favourite of Heat 3 after State Of Play 47. Caroline Af Ugglas - Hon Har Inte (NEW) (CR-47) I prefer this to Snalla Snalla, loved the staging too! 59. Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats (Re-entry) (CR-17-18-OUT-59) I read about this getting a UK release? One has to wonder why  66. Emilia Mitiku - You're Not Right For Me (NEW) (CR-66) A wonderful track, shame she missed out on a place in the UK top 20 though :( Hopefully it'll do a Caro Emerald and rebound at some point. It would have perhaps been a good idea to include You're My World on it as that could have been a fairly decent UK hit and given the album the boost it needed! 68. Lena - Neon (Lonely People) (NEW) (CR-68) I prefer this track to Stardust actually! Got the album last week but not got round to listening yet! This new single has made listening to it a far more exciting prospect though! 73. Hannah Mancini - Straight Into Love (NEW) (CR-73) The production is a bit weak, but it's another decent entry from Slovenia! I have my doubts about it qualifying though 74. Natália Kelly - Shine (NEW) (CR-74) Nice enough, but I doubt Europe will be overly taken by it as it isn't exactly an instantly catchy tune!

AdamAloud's Chart - Week 90
Hey! My likes: (06) 01 | Cascada - Glorious | 15-09-10-12-06-01- (6) Thank goodness this won in Germany! Should hopefully generate a bit more interest in the UK for Eurovision this year. Ghosty's Chart [10-02-13]
Thanks Adam! 02 - It was indeed a very good show put on by Germany, with the perfect winner too! 06 - Good to hear :D I always seem to be in the wrong semi! 15 - I know! :drama: A travesty! 02 - 2003 would be my fourth favourite, but I did like 02 and 06 as well! 06 - We'll see! I'm cutting back my chart action now too (only publishing a monthly chart from this week on) so hopefully I'll be able to fit in time to at least continue entering BJSC in place of posting charts each week! The constant DNQs won't hurt so much either if I know I don't have to spend hours working out stats that have no bearing on my time in the contest at all! Hopefully Nadine will do well for you! 15 - Agreed! It needed a key change too! I've heard the Safura Discotits Mix or whatever it's called and that showed that a key change was necessary!

Romania 2013
Highly disappointing selection from Romania this year. Only two favourites for me; Wake Me Up by Jul (who sadly can't really sing) and Emilia by Electric Fence. mOr2quvwsSo L4CRtB5oKZM

Melodifestivalen 2013 / Heat 3 · Skellefteå
Melodifestivalen is evolving slowly, I'm not that surprised at all by these results, or any of the previous weeks. Heartstrings was clearly completely over-hyped and deserved what it got really. Martin was the surprise of the night for me, didn't think Sweden were still into that sound so I'm pleased he reached AC. Falling ended up as my favourite song of the night tbh!

Melodifestivalen 2013 / Heat 3 · Skellefteå
Eddie Razaz:- The best of the male dance-pop tracks so far, easily. Surely it'll be going straight to the final? Elin Petersson:- A very nice song indeed and possibly not a shoe in for last place afterall. That said, I can't see it reaching the top 5 tonight. Ravaillacz:- The only sort of schlager that does well in Melodifestivalen anymore. I hope this year marks a change, but I fear this is going to AC at least. Amanda Fondell:- Risky. I like it, but I'm not sure the viewers will get it at all. If it progresses any further, it'll be on name recognition alone. Martin Rolinski:- I'll always be a fan of this sound, but Sweden has probably moved on from it. Caroline af Ugglas:- I like it, so that's the kiss of death. Hopefully it'll reach AC. State Of Drama:- One can never underestimate the rock vote in Melodifestivalen. It's quite Western sounding which might go against it, but I would not be at all surprised if it makes it further in the competition. Janet Leon:- Bit of an underwhelming chorus. It's alright, but I can't really understand why it's being touted as a favourite. Then again, I understand very little of what goes on anywhere anymore  DTF: Eddie Razaz & State Of Drama AC: Janet Leon & Ravaillacz 5th: Amanda Fondell 6th: Caroline Af Ugglas 7th: Martin Rolinski 8th: Elin Petersson

United Kingdom 2013
Yeah, Radio 2 broadcasts the Eurovision final with Ken Bruce commentating so it could easily be somebody amazing - it just makes sense to announce it on that radio show if they aren't doing a TV performance. I'm thinking it's more likely to be somebody woeful though.
-
United Kingdom 2013
UK announcement on March 18th on Ken Bruce's Radio 2 show. They're going with the last minute approach again this year then. That spells disaster really. I'm going to assume the first live televised performance will probably be on a Wednesday night lottery draw too.

Ghosty's Chart [10-02-13]
Glad you're liking Margaret's track! I rather liked End Of Time! The album as a whole wasn't exceptionally strong though. Possibly, but it's always incredibly hard for songs to go top 10 on my chart at this time of the year. Every song in this week's top 15 could have hit #1 a month ago and that is why songs are going up and down the top 10 so dramatically! Take all the Eurovision related songs out, and Lawson would be at #5! We'll wait and see! Glad you're liking the top 2! Thanks! Black widow is awesome! I wish it was the UK entry to be honest... Glorious is poised to take over from Euphoria now :kink: Thanks Rich! 01 - I know! Cannot wait for it to be performed in Malmo! I so hope it can at least reach the final! 02 - It's up there with Taken By A Stranger, but it's pipped Satellite for me. Those are easily the three best German entries of the last 20 years or so though! 05 - Me too! I've found I'm liking it more now I know it hasn't beaten Margaret :kink: 06 - Same, but there we go! I'll probably never make the final again, if I do decide to continue entering. 13 - Agreed! It's grown on me loads recently! 15 - Oh that ending is DREADFUL! I didn't even notice it on the live performance, but when I got the studio version, I was like "What the hell was THAT?!" 26 - I really liked it, but the studio version was a lot better! I can understand why Nica & Joe got a lot - strong performance and a very catchy song. I've heard it once in full and I can still remember how it goes. 48 - Completely agree there! She picked the three best singles definitely!

Important announcement
Thanks for the kind words peeps ^_^ To be honest, I do quite enjoy doing the amount of stuff I'm doing - keeps me out of trouble :kink: . The main reason I am doing it though is to forge a career (one that would be less hectic!) and so I have to focus on that really.
-
Important announcement
I'm probably going to take a break for a couple of months and then see what's what then.

Important announcement
I suppose I should explain my side of the situation as well just so everybody is aware of the reasons behind this happening. Basically, since October last year I have had less and less time to commit to helping with the running of the contest. I started a university course and have had two jobs on the go as well. Unless contests ran perfectly alongside the deadlines I had for assignments, I found it increasingly difficult to find a window to carry out the tasks I do for the contest surrounding the updating of threads, most importantly the stats thread. Especially with the two work commitments I had as well. I ran with it for a couple of months, thinking I'd be able to sort out some sort of pattern, but I'm exactly halfway through my first part of the course this week and I still haven't found a way to comfortably fit the contest around my offline activities. I first brought these problems to the attention of the other mods after BJSC 50, stating that I would step down after TBO had finished. It was because of a combination of my busy schedule and the fact I just wasn't enjoying my role here like I once did. That was because of a number of issues including a run of poor results, the feeling of constantly not being able to please you all despite all the best intentions and a feeling of not being able to provide the necessary credentials for the vetoing role due to losing complete touch with mainstream music. There then followed a very hectic period where I was leaving one of my jobs, but then ended up staying. At the point where I was leaving, I figured I'd have more spare time to commit to the contest, so I decided to retract my resignation from the mod role. Of course, with me ending up staying in my job, that left me right back where I started. I was reluctant to mess my fellow mods around again so thought I'd give BJSC 51 a go with the intention of sticking it out for the long run. Sadly, it's not gone any better and the dates of this contest do not fit in well with my course at all. What with a large part of the module starting next week, I'm not going to be able to find the time to carry out the usual updates for weeks! So therefore I've suggested it would be best to get somebody else in to replace me. That person will more than likely be taking over the role of keeping the threads up to date and there's a good few hours commitment there. What I will say however is that you will be supported by a stellar trio of fellow mods, who have provided a huge amount of the enjoyable moments I have had in this contest since I joined the mod team. I cannot thank them enough for that. I also want to thank Phil for giving me the option to return in a couple of months time should situations change, it means a lot to be given the option. So yeah, that's about it really. I may be trying to hammer down the door wanting to return in a couple of years time, but for now I feel I just need to take a break from the role and allow someone else to come in who can offer better assistance to the other mods and participants. And I wish whoever comes into the role the best of luck with it! ^_^ I will offer assistance with going through the methods of updating various aspects of the stats thread should anyone wish to have help with it.
