I think the song isn't quite instant enough to appeal to many people outside the main fanbase, and unless they release a physical copy, not many of those fans will buy the track as they already have it on the Best Of! Personally I just think it was the wrong choice of single and it came out too quickly after Something New. 24 - It's a bit of a grower, but it's nowhere near as good as The Girl And The Robot, Remind Me or White Foxes! 34 - Fingers crossed! 44 - That was such a rip off of Goldfrapp it was unbelieveable! Warrior is a bit more Frozen-esque which I love :wub:

I really hope we get a new album too but I fear the generally underwhelming response to the Ten campaign may have put them off :( 08 - Agreed! It's grown on me so much! 23 - Yeah, it's one of my least favourite tracks on her album and coming after Euphoria, it didn't sound as fantastic as I'd anticipated it being. 24 - :lol:, we did in our shop too for a bit but I didn't mind it! I really like their recent album! 34 - He does have a lot of potential, but he does remind me of a weaker version of Arcade Fire so I'm not sure he'll have much of an impact on my chart this year. 53 - I'm yet to buy it! Still waiting for it to come down a bit more in price! 59 - Agreed! Her "o n e" EP totally passed me by as well until recently, there's one fairly decent track on there called Say It's True. 60 - Agreed, I think that's why it's charting so low for me, I was expecting a lot more from their new single!

04 - Number 6, although that chart was based on new entries during December so wouldn't include songs that I've liked during December that were released in the months beforehand. I just find that whilst being a very good song, Running To The Sea perhaps could have and should have been a lot better given the calibre of both artist's previous singles. 15 - Maybe! :lol: I was wondering whether she might have produced it? It certainly seems like a very random credit to be given! 33 - I don't think they did! I saw Call My Name was going to be the next single and assumed it was a track from the album, but no! Broken also sounds quite a bit different to Call My Name so I imagine their next album will have quite a variation in sound! 44 - Ahh of course! That slipped my mind!

Gosh, I only used Hendinia as an example, there's all sorts of voting trends going on between loads of participants. It's just interesting to note - it's not an accusation by any means. I don't really understand why everyone's jumping to defend themselves when they haven't done anything wrong, I can read the scoreboards :lol: . All I'm saying is there might be an ulterior motive to a very small minority of these trends and that it's being monitored. There won't be any sort of "crackdown", that has been totally blown out of proportion and was addressed purely because it was mentioned earlier in the thread. I'm also not saying that a pop fan voting for Need U is definitely "dodgy", it's just something I personally would not have expected to happen but it is very possible that it could happen. That was something that intrigued me on a personal level and not something that is of concern to the contest as a whole or how it is or will continue to be run.

I know pop fans don't just vote for pop songs, I just thought there were other entries that were not voted for that would have appealed more to those pop fans than a rave track would have.

It wasn't you. It doesn't really matter who it was, it was just one of a number of instances that I spotted that seemed a rather unusual.

It's not so much a problem with 12 point scores, it's more a trend where people are giving 6, 7 and 8 points to the same countries every time even though the genres of each entry are completely different. It could well be that these people like the same range of genres, but it's just an interesting trend to note and something I'll be looking more closely at in 2013 since it was only really the latter half of 2012 that I noticed these patterns occurring more frequently. The point raised about prominent countries is an interesting one too, especially when Aeroche were onto a successful streak. There was one set of votes in particular I remember from one country where 9 of their top 10 songs were pure pop/dance-pop entries and then randomly thrown into the mix was Unicorn Kid which didn't match with the rest of the votes from that country (Nor was something I'd ever expect that person to like). That suggested to me perhaps another instance where people might be voting for countries over songs. Of course, it could just be that that person really liked Unicorn Kid as a one off, but it was certainly an interesting example to notice. For the record, I'm not suggesting a crackdown needs to happen, it's just someone mentioned it and I thought I'd share my views on it.

The only way to enforce a crackdown would be to make entries anonymous (I find it interesting how the one time we did that, we had a completely different country winning) but it would be pretty much impossible to enforce a crackdown on voting because if people do vote for countries/members over songs then they can easily find out who is sending what via PM, MSN etc. rendering the whole concept pointless. Also the concept does spoil the enjoyment of the contest for a vast majority of participants. We've just got to hope that those who vote based on songs continue to do so and those who vote for members change their ways, or of course that these trends are nothing more than a coincidence.

When compiling the stats thread I do notice some fairly significant trends between some countries who vote for the same countries over and over again regardless of the genre that's being sent. Hendinia, as an example, changes the genre of their entries quite often (nothing wrong with that) yet obtains a similar proportion of their points from the same countries time and time again. I'm not forcing any blame anyone in particular here, it's just an example of an interesting trend to note and it's one of a few that have not gone unnoticed.

I prefer the original myself, but White Foxes is a million times better than (the ever so slighty overrated) Running To The Sea. I was really pleased that White Foxes was my joint most successful entry into BJSC this year :D. You should join the contest when the registration thread reopens, you'd be a great addition!

In second place is Cats Eyes' vocalist, Rachel Zeffira with her enchanting tune, The Deserters and in third is an exquisite version of A Fairytale Of New York by Katzenjammer and Ben Caplan. At #4 is an entry into the Swiss Eurovision selection for their 2013 entry, The Point Of No Return by Melissa. The song came 4th in the final. The top 5 is completed by the wonderful recent single by Queen Of Hearts. Röyksopp made a fantastic return in December with the help of Susanne Sundfør, Running To The Sea is at #6 just ahead of the Manian produced track, Broken by Young London. Christina Perri's A Thousand Years appears at #8 and British electro outfit, IAMX are at #9 with The Unified Field.
