I was absolutely devastated :lol: I was 11 at the time, so didn’t really see the H & Claire thing coming, but was pleased that they did. In hindsight, it was probably best that they split when they did as it allowed for this triumphant return from them!

Fantastic research here, Jay! I too can't quite believe how close One For Sorrow was, but I guess the Manics' track does have a long legacy, especially where I'm from anyway! :lol: The sales for After The Love Has Gone were absolutely shocking, especially given the $ that was spent on the video. Perhaps that's why it didn't connect with a general audience - it was all a bit too blockbuster for Steps! Still, I would have thought a non-album track (at the time) would have performed a lot better, but it seems even the fans didn't respond massively to it either! Nothing went wrong with it's distribution that anyone knows about did it? As far as whether I prefer any songs that charted above Steps, absolutely none of them apart from Murder On The Dancefloor. Kylie comes close with Chain Reaction, but Steps just about pips it for me. When it comes to the post-Steps singles... - Kiss Kiss, One Step Closer, Freak Like Me and How You Remind Me beat Someone Like You, but DJ is supreme to them all. - Alone, Round Round, Like A Prayer and James Dean all beat Half a Heart - No Good Advice, Favourite Things and Loneliness are on an equal level to Lately

Wow, 4 years! :o That has flown by. I remember being super excited about it, obviously, but also was awestruck by it just being banger after banger after banger (SOAH aside!). Glitter & Gold was my instant favourite on first listen through, but Happy has emerged as my favourite of the album tracks since.

Thanks Jay. I probably am missing a fair few UK releases, but it was my aim to try and get the vast majority of the officially released formats in the UK. It's certainly an interesting talking point with regards to the decision to release one CD single or two, and I agree, it is a shame that so many of their releases had just the one CD single - it probably would have got them at least another number one hit with It's The Way You Make Me Feel had there been 2 CDs, and elevated some of the others to more deserving chart positions than they achieved. I can't figure out what influenced the decisions myself. Apart from 5,6,7,8, all of the singles should have had 2 CD treatment - one with a b-side and instrumental and one with remixes.

Got tickets for Cardiff, and can't wait to see them again! I think with What The Future Holds Part 1 and 2 being incorporated into this tour, we'll be lucky to get any album tracks unfortunately, apart from maybe Under My Skin if that counts? Best: Love U More - I kind of wish this had been a double a-side with One For Sorrow? Worst: Experienced - Most definitely the worst thing they've recorded.

Best: Scared Of The Dark - what a way to cement a solid comeback! Worst: Love’s Got A Hold On My Heart - not my least favourite of the songs listed here, but I’ve chosen this one as the others felt like the right choice of a lead single. I think they should have led with Deeper Shade Of Blue from Steptactular as it would have caught everyone by surprise in the same way SOTD did all those years later.

I think it was just surprising for me personally, but from the perspective of everybody else, Lone Wolf is probably the most surprising qualifier for Caerfyrddia I’d say?

It’s all a bit... intense. I feel like I need a lie down in a dark room after listening to that :lol: It also sounds similar to The Sound Of Arrows’ Wonders in parts.

Most surprising qualifier is definitely Use My Body While It’s Still Young by Rebekka Karijord and most surprising NQ for me is a toss up between Erdem Kinay’s Isporta, Owlle’s Ticky Ticky and Lucia’s Catastrophe. I was also really gutted when Rachel Zeffira’s The Deserters was snubbed :(

For Caerfyrddia, it’s probably Kalifornien by Clara Sagstrom, can barely recall how it even goes now! I even prefer the last placed entry from B-A-B-E and Jodel Time to it :lol:
