Where did you hear that Chris? EDIT: Nevermind, just seen that Empire have updated there site with the story.
  2. It sounds like it will be a grower, as you said, there is nothing as outlandish as Show Me Your Stuff, but I still think there are hooks in there that are just as catchy, but not so much in your face. Not to mention I love his lyrics, as a whole I find his music to be extremely relatable. Funny enough, I was just about to check his tour schedual to see if he was coming over here, but I was doubtful, as I didn't think he would have enough of a fanbase here to do a show. I really want to see him, especially at those prices, but I've never been to a gig before and would be nervous/feel stupid to go on my own, although I did check the Lexington website to see if they have tickets left, but it doesn't come up on the advance booking. How did you get yours?
  3. He should be quite well known to the people of Buzzjack now that two of his singles have been entered for both BJSC and BJUP respectively; and now finally, John O'Regan aka Diamond Rings, has released his debut album Special Affections in the US. The tracklist; 01 – Play By Heart 02 – Wait And See 03 – On Our Own 04 – You And Me 05 – Give It Up 06 – Pre-Owned Heart 07 – Something Else 08 – You Oughta Know 09 – It’s Not My Party 10 – All Yr Songs Highlighted are the songs that have already been released as singles (You Oughta Know being the B-Side to the wonderful Show Me Stuff, a glaring obmission). But I've already got over that mild annoyance now that I've started listening through: Play By Heart's tribal beat is magical, showing a different side to his sound from the start while On Our Own is beautiful and wistful, complete with a subtle yet infectious hook  This album will have to dip dramatically for me to think it is anything other than stunning. Also, here is the video for third single Something Else. I wasn't aware this even exsisted until I checked his Myspace just now, so I'm yet to listen to it myself, although it looks like it is guitar based. FL8r_nrl3iU
  4. I'd add Still I Rise, Autobiography, Sweet Dreams and Saxon to that list too although Itty Bitty Piggy is the single greatest example of why she has people raving about her; her mixtapes show how much presence and lyrical flow she has. So it's a shame that out of all the fierce rap songs and spits on there they choose Your Love to be the lead for her debut. I hope her label let have songs/singles from this era where she actually raps and shows the mainstream why she got the hype in the first place, as forgettable mid-tempos like Right Thru Me are not doing a very good job of it at the moment.
  5. The lyrics and production are nice enough, but that's where it ends for me, I don't find her voice emotive at all, and the slow pace of the song shows up just how bland and uninteresting it is too. I much prefer Promise This, because the song doesn't have to rely so much on the vocals, and it has a strong beat that carries it and has more going on, where I don't feel the Flood goes anywhere. A clever strategy though to sell the album with both a ballad and an uptempo, and at least she's trying to show another side of her voice.
  6. Yes I have, my friend sent me the link to Irreversible and it is indeed incredible, I love the beat. And I'm glad I'm not alone in my SNSD love (although I prefer Gee and Genie in Korean, and the older videos are better too) it's such a shame the clip of the new song is so short though.
  7. Jonghyun >>Taemin>Key>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Minho>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Onew Clearly.
  8. No love for Girls' Generation :( (there are other good girlbands too that I don't loon on nearly as much) but yeah the follow-up single to Lucifer, Hello, is just as addictive  They are busy launching themselves in Japan (they re-recorded Gee and Genie), but while doing that they are also making a shock return to Korea soon (even though they have already had an era this year and everyone thought they wouldn't release in in that territory again). They released silhouettes of all the girls for their promo shots and are revelaing them one by one, and from the ones already revealed they are retro/OO7 styled with them holding guns. Amazing  So much better then their poorly photoshopped promos they had for their Japan release.
  9. I know right, the production on that song is insane. By the way your damn right about Jong Hyun, alhough I do have a soft spot for Taemin
  10. I love your sig Ljósið

From what I've seen of this episode, Kurt and Sam have far more understated chemistry than Quinn and Sam, which seems forced by the actors, especially on Dianna Agron's part, who seems to think that pouting and sticking her jawline out is the only way to convey lust (the style of acting that Keira Knightley has made famous) I really think Sam/Kurt would make a better and more interesting couple. Overall, I really liked this episode, mainly because they didn't try and twist certain song lyrics to fit a specific theme (the worse being last week, which I've ranted about already) and it felt very laid back and fun, while tackling controversial issues in a honest and less contrived way at the same time. I simply adore the Santana and Brittany realtionship, they really are the best characters at the moment along with Kurt, the bit at the end with Brittany doing the Lady and the Tramp scene by herself was actually quite touching. However, the groups reaction to Finn and Rachel's "offensive" performance brought back the sour taste of last week - I was irratated by the over the top reactions from the group, especially Quinn's wonderful "I felt like punching both of you in the face" outburst, while wearing that little gold cross that is really beginning to irk me, as it really does give off a holier than thou attitude. Also, I didn't like Artie having a go at Brittany for "stealing" his virginity, it takes two to tango and all that. Episode 1>>Episode 2>>Episode 4>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>[massive gap]>>>>>>>>>>>>Episode 3 Oh and it clearly goes Sam (I'm really seeing the appeal this week)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mike (so underrated)>>>>>>Puck (he uses to be my #1, gone off of him recently)>>>>>>>>Finn (fancied the pants of him early season one, far too skinny now) >>>>>>Artie (this is going purely by the show, I know he looks better in his popstar days, but even then he's not really my type).

Also, it took a hit in the ratings (although apparantly tuesday was as a whole was weak) the ratings are down to 10.76 million with 4.5% of 18-49 year olds, down from 5.9% share of 18-49 year olds/13.5 million overall viewers from last week and 5.5%/12.28 million overall viewers from the premiere as well, although it did win the night.

I despised this episode, for the reason that it seemed very intolerant of people who aren't religious, suggesting that somehow not having God in your life means that you are lost and broken, and the only way to get through your problems is to believe and lean on someone "you can't see, feel or touch" as Mercedes wonderfully put it. She even turned around to Kurt at one point and said "I don't know how to be around you" just because of his non-religious views. The storyline with Burt also felt very contrived, and emotionally manipluative, compared to "Dream On", which struck an honest downbeat tone and message (I was cringing when Rachel was singing "Papa, Can You Hear Me?", to Kurt's dad, and the "Who's next?" line killed any sort of melodramtic emotion they tried to create) and the worse thing was that they prayed for him, when Kurt specifically asked them not to, and made Kurt seem like a bad guy for making that one request. Also, when Emma burst through into Sue's office to say that Kurt is vunerable right now, and somehow therfore needs religion to get him through, and after Sue made her valid comments, she told her to keep those thoughts to herself! (Pot. Kettle. Black). The only person who made any sense that episode was indeed Sue, and even then the writers buckled under pressure and made the only lukewarm atheist there, back down in their belief, and swallow the religious bull$h!t that the episode was desperately trying to make the audience swallow. I felt uncomfortable how they elaborated that it was becasue of God that Burt managed to pull through. Quinn (who instead of supporting Kurt, had a go at him for his views, all the while superiorly wearing her little gold crucifix as though she was somehow more pure) Mercedes, Rachel (the whole I want to raise my children with my religious views, not matter what your views are, with no argument from Finn who sat there and took it like a robot: what a though provoking debate that was!), Finn, Santana, Emma et all were all unlikeable, selfish and self-absorbed (Finn, his whole "I believe in God now, because I saw him in a grilled sandwich; but now a week latter I hate him because he didn't listen to my pathetic problems and was SHOCK HORROR not the one who got me the chance to touch Rachel's boobs, while all the while I should maybe have been praying for my dying father figure instead"). Another point is that the song choices are getting worse and the lyrics increasingly taken out of context, a big example being "Hold Your Hand" however beautifully sung it was, and touching the flashbacks were (the highlight of the episode), the song is about the longing you feel for someone after you have just fallen in love with that person (err not the most appropiate song to sing to your dying father). Or how about Rachel singing "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" (where the singer in the song is supposed to be singing to their dead father) to her frenemy's still very much alive father (not the most comforting song to sing now, is it?) What If God Was One of Us was also, funnily enough, taken out of context too: instead of looking to God to find love and peace, you should find that in the people you love around you, the complete opposite of the actual message the episode gave. So the only one who gave any decent reasons for not believing in God, Kurt, was made to look like a mental patient and a bitch, was didn't know what he was saying because he was distressed, while Mercedes who gave the crackpot reason to believe in God, was made to look like this was the obvious answer to solve the complex isssue, with some emotional choir music to back her up. Clearly not biased then. Audition >> Britney/Brittany >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.....[huge gap].....>>>>> Grilled Cheesus (one of, if not my least, favourite episode of Glee so far)
  15. Rebecca has now overtaken Matt to have the curse blessing of being bookies favourite for the first live show.

I'm really liking the city background and the tagline, really getting across the scope of the film well, my favourite being the one of them all running through the woods. Cheers Chris, listening to Pieces Form the Whole at the moment, and I'm loving it already, I will probably order the full CD from Amazon in the near future. I'm a sucker for a good soundtrack.

Could you post the link to the score again Chris? I meant to download it when you had it in your sig, but never got round to it.
  19. Just read a nice article on the film in Empire, really got me more excited for this and wiped away my inital doubts (especially after that awful teaser trailer), although considering Aaron Sorkin is the one writing this and Fincher is directing, I was never really going to miss it.
  21. People are starting to hate on Gamu quite harshly now after the hyped campagin to bring her back, which is just as bad, but in the other extreme. I can understand why people are frustrated with her not being picked (me being one of them); she has a lovely tone to her voice that I could listen to for ages, she has range and is most importantly a charasmatic performer (you can see it in her eyes) without having to use 'props'; she is like a little firecracker when she sings and I honestly think she has star quality. wLNPgTBNkws She can clearly sing live and confidently in front of a huge audience, and would have been great to watch in the live stages of the competition. I'm not as sure as Kathy seems to be that everything is scripted down to the last letter and pre-planned, I think it is more likely that the producers are opportunistic. They clearly want to bring in as wide a range of finalists as they can to bring in a wide a range of viewers to increase the audience share (a given); having Rebecca (the chosen one to go far out of the girls) and Gamu (both competent singers) wouldn't bring in as many viewers as having Rebecca (the competent, likeable singer) and Katie (crackers and a diva) or Rebecca and Cher (volatile and current). I doubt very much that they foresaw from so early on that Gamu would get this much attention, but now that she has, they are feeding the flames, without any real intention of bringing her back, just so people tune in to see if she will. Either way if Gamu isn't picked as a wildcard (which is now almost certain), I will be backing Rebecca or Matt to win (with TreyC completeing the final 3). I'm still holding out that Nicole Scherzinger will be back to mentor the wildcards - there was a hint in the tunnel sequence, where after the four current judges flashed by, there was tunnel shot with a silhouette in the background when the "BIG TWIST" font came up.

Really? What do you think the murder weapen is going to be? There is a clip in the trailer, where it looks like Robert is rushing inside the house carrying someone unconscious, I wonder if this could have anything to do with it.

I wouldn't go that far, I think you may be reading more into it than there actually is. Bates said it wasn't his place to judge Carson or any other man, I don't think he was hinting at some past history. Regardless I think now that they have set up the plot, setting and rather expansive set of characters last week, this episode was a lot more streamlined, although there wasn't as many emotional beats as there was last week. Also, Sarah's comments about Cora makes me think she may possibly do more evil things in the future than simply tripping someone over, although now it's maybe me that is reading too much into something  but her comments about murdering Cora in the night, might have been said in jest, but considering what we know of her ruthless and rebellious naute, I wouldn't put it past her. And seeing as how we are only two episodes in, their are numerous ways the show could go down, and considering Gosford Park, I wouldn't be suprised if someone was murdered somewhere down the line. Back to this episode anyway, the standout has to be Maggie Grace, I loved seeing Violet's rivarly with Mrs. Crawley, hopefully it will continue next week now that they are forced to share power, but I can see them grudingly becoming friends in the future. Also, I think Kathy hit the nail on the head for why I'm loving this show so much, the score is just absolutely gorgeous, and adds extra melodrama to any scene it is featured in. Combined with the slick direction, it really does seem that it wouldn't be out of place on the big screen. Thankfully, there were fewer adverts this week. Also it looks like Thomas gets some more action next week, a bit of a gay romance doesn't go amiss.
  24. New Caprica will be back to try and match their pretty decent finish last contest! I am totally in love with my song choice at the moment, my friend blasted it out at her 18th last night, sounded so good on the speakers ^_^

It might be, my memory is rubbish. Also, randomly, I found myself feeling quite sorry for the zombie woman who Rick says I'm sorry this happened to you, to.
