The Walking Dead
I still haven't read it, although I do intend to using that link you sent me, I just keeping forgetting to. And I know Frank Darabont was getting really exctied about bringing in a female character next year (I think she is some sort of gunslinger and a fan favourite, but don't hold me to that) sorry I can't be more specific, I can't find the Empire article.

Scream Series
I don't find them scary in the slightest now (although Sream did scare me when I was younger, especially the end of the opening scene, regarding a certain tree). Overall, they are not even that bloody either, the amount of blood they used decreased with every film. I think the goriest part of the whole trilogy was the last act of the first film, in the country house. Also, like Andre said, it's pretty much a parody film of old school slashers like Halloween (but if you watch something like Child's Play 2 - which is gloriously over the top - before you watch Scream, it will be easier to see what they are taking the p*** out off. Otherwise, certain scenes, like when the killer keeps coming back to life, will be lost on you). The slasher genre was dead before Scream came out, and it took the self-referential concept that Craven used in A New Nightmare, and made it a popular sub-genre all in itself. Which is why Scary Movie is stupid - it spoofs a spoof.

The Walking Dead
The second of only two new shows I will be watching this season. Have been pumped for this since the trailer debuted at Comic-Con, time has really flown by, can't believe it's premiering so soon. It's a shame though that it will only have a short run, so thank God then it has already been greenlighted for a second season of 13 episodes; so at least we can get into it without fear it is going to be cancelled after just six hours.

The X Factor 2010 // Series 7
The only contestants I am really following this year are Gamu and TreyC and according to the leaks so hopefully the twist will somehow rectify that. The rumour I like most is that That being said, I don't know if the producers would be up for doing something that radical, presumably, quite late in the game, although they just might now that the list has been leaked.

Never Let Me Go (Based on "The best book of the decade")
Never Let Me Go currently had a 7.3 ranking on IMDB, which is decent, although the real test is when it goes on wide release in America on 8th October. It also has 63% on Rotten Tomatoes (48 good, 28 bad). http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/never_let_me_go_2010/ Press conference at the Toronto Film Festival with Carey Mulligan (Kathy H), Mark Romanek (Director), Alex Garland (Screenwriter), Kazuo Ishiguro (Novelist) and the producers. http://media.tiff.net:8080/player.aspx?vid...ss-Conferen.flv Eight Clips From The Film: "Experience", "Hailsham", "Questioning", "Possible", "The Truth", "Kitchen", "Madame" and "Doesn't See You That Way". http://www.mattsmoviereviews.net/trailers%...%20me%20go.html

Lost: Season 6
Or, South Park style, instead of going to heaven they were all taken to hell. Sadly, that made the cutting room floor.

Downton Abbey
I totally agree with you Jark, although the scene I found most moving was when the head maid asked the head butler, if he ever wished things had turned out differently, and if he would rather have a family of his own. That scene did bring a tear to my eye. And I can understand where your coming from Suedehead, but I thought it just towed the line from having too much exposition - in my opinion it was both educational and helped structure the plot e.g. it starts in the morning and showed their morning routine and ended pretty much at night and their night routine. It's a good way of helping it flow and helping the audience understand what is going on and how things in this era worked. I did think some of the earlier dialogue was clumsy at times, and while it must have looked good on paper, it sounded quite a mouthful when said aloud, the line I'm thinking of, but I can't remember exactly, was when Robert was talking about the sinking of the Titanic. I found the Lady's maid delicilously vindictive, I remember genuinely gasping when she tripped Bates over. Like Kathy P said, I hope she gets her comeuppance, because whereas the footman had at least a reason to want to get rid of Bates (to get his job) she was only plotting agasint him because she's a stuck up, utter bitch. The best bit is, judging from the trailer, we haven't even seen the peak of the drama yet. Fabulous! Also Suedehead, it does indeed remind me of Upstairs Downstairs, my mum used to watch it all the time on a saturday morning  I'm also going to make more of an effort to watch Gosford Park the whole way through, my mum has it on DVD, but I've only seen the first five minutes or so.

Forthcoming Movie News
After taking at a peek at Julian Fellowes's profile over at IMDB, it turns out that a new version of Romeo and Juliet is due out next year, with Fellowes writing the script and Carlo Carlei in the directing chair (it looks like this will be his first film he will make in English). According to IMDB, Lily Collins will be playing Juliet, the only signigicant role I can see that she has had, is in the Blind Side. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1645131/ I don't know what to make of this, to be fair it has been over a decade since the last adaptation. However, that is one of my favourite films of all time, and Baz Luhrmann's take on the source material was quite original. His adaptation was already aimed at the MTV generation, not to mention the new High School Musical films taking the basic story to an even younger audience, so I don't know where they could go with the story unless they take it back to basics, make it more classy and aimed at adults (and considering who's writing the screenplay this is a big possibilty). Plus, there is also an animation comedy spin on the tale with Gnomeo and Juliet due out next year too with some big names voicing the characters. Gosford Park was heavily praised (and Downton Abbey seems pretty great so far) so I trust Fellowes with the script. What does everyone else think about this? Regardless it looks like the star-cross'd lovers are back with a bang in 2011.

Downton Abbey
I'm surprised a topic hasn't already been made about this; created and almost entirely written by the Oscar award winning writer, director and actor Julian Fellowes (who won the award for Best Original Screenplay for the similar Gosford Park) the seven part period drama has debuted to great reviews and a stellar 7.6 million viewers last night and is due to air in America in January. Set in pre-WWI England, just after the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, it centers on the dramas of the Crawley family and their servants; The first episode kicks off as the natural heir to Robert, Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonnerville) who would have inherited his title and the Downton Abbey estate - his cousin and his only son (who was also set to marry Robert's eldest daughter, the rather cold Mary (Michelle Dockery)) drown after the Titanic sinks. Due to a legally binding contract, Mary is unable to take the title, which means a random distant relative will get everything the family have worked for: but not if the Earl's mother Violet (a wonderful Maggie Grace) and Robert's wife, Cora, Countess of Grantham (Elizabeth McGovern) have anything to do with it. Cripple Bates (Brendan Coyle) who fought alongside Robert in the Boer war, arrives on the scene as Robert's valet. Which leads to the ambitious first footman Thomas (who wanted to be Robert's valet to move up in the world) and the equally conniving Lady's maid Sarah, plotting to get him fired. Meanwhile Plan A of Violet and Cora's plan to get Mary to inherit the title gets underway, by helping Mary grab the man of her dreams, the Duke of Crowborough (Charlie Cox), who is in fact having a secret affair with Thomas, who plans to blackmail him about the whole thing. It's enough to leave the writers of Eastenders heads spinning. It's very well directed, the acting competent (Maggie Smith and Hugh Bonnerville being the clear stand outs). It was greatly structured and written, which allowed us to get to grip with the numerous characters quickly, and managed to let almost all get a moment to shine in the hour and a half running time. Has anyone else watched it, and if you have what do you think? Who was your favourite character? More importantly, will you be tuning in again next week? Here is the rather wonderful trailer: 2M3moEeErr8

Favourite Films of 2010: So far.
I urge you to watch the original if you haven't already, one of my favourite films of all time. As for me, the list of new movies I've seen this year is ridiculously low. I still need to see the big hits like Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Rec. 2 and Kick Ass. Also The Road; the book is so utterly beautiful, it's more poetry than prose, absolutely breathtaking, although I'm nervous the film won't live up to my expectations. I've also got the original version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo for my birthday, and plan to watch it after I finish with the book. Anyway: Inception Toy Story 3 and that's it, rather shameful to be honest. Films I'm anticpating are The Social Network and Harry Potter 7: Part 1. Plus, it still sort of counts as it was first scheduled, and is released in the US, this year: Never Let Me Go. As you can probably tell I've never looked forward to seeing a film in quite a while (even more so than Inception), according to early reviews it's supposed to be remarkable. If it is anywhere near as good as the book it will be.

Scream 4 · 15th April 2011
First Official Picture http://www.empireonline.com/images/uploaded/Scream4.jpg My source: http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=29017 Original article: http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20428729,00.html Here's a little quote from the Entertainment Weekly article from Courtney about where her character is at the start of the film; ''I kind of gave up my job as the entertainment journalist,'' says Cox. ''I'm bored with my life and my marriage.'' Bringing a little excitement to town is Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell). Her return leads to more Ghostface murders, which reenergize Gale. Says Cox, ''Things start happening, and I couldn't be more thrilled.'' Also, this was voted in at #17 on Empire's list of the 33 Greatest Movie Trilogies of all time, outranking the likes of Terminator and X-Men. http://www.empireonline.com/features/trilo...ult.asp?film=17

OPINION POLLS: Labour maintain lead
Agree with all of this. Abbott also seemed a bit dim at times with getting muddled on a question or two and not managing to get her facts straight. Balls did great during the debate, but I still believe Ed has the most steadfast convictions out of all the candidates.

OPINION POLLS: Labour maintain lead
Me! Abbott looked like a complete idiot at times, David was all show. Burnham wasn't too bad, but I think both Eds did the best tonight. And, funnily enough, they are my first two choices for Labour leader as well.

Lost: Season 6
Time doesn't exist in the purgatory plain, so for example even though Claire may have died years after Jack did, they would both arrive in the "afterlife" at the same time.
