Release date: 22/10/10 Director: Tod Williams Writer: Michael R. Perry Starring: All original cast members expected to return. Plot: Unknown at this stage. From the trailer we can assume that the demon, and a Katie under its control, will be begin terrorising a new family. Particularly targeting the baby. 9qt_002jXjs The sequel to Paranormal Activity, last years breakout horror hit, was announced as soon as the big numbers started rolling in, but a teaser has now been released, which will be running before the Twilight film, Eclipse. The minute long trailer begins at the end of the last film, and continues from there, as strange happenings start to occur in a new house. We see glimpses of the different rooms in the house, before it settles on a nursery; with a dog and a sleeping baby (the moment when the dog begins barking at nothing is actually quite creepy). The trailer ends as Katie (we can presume) walks inside. There is also a hidden clue in the teaser, there is backwards writing on the mirror at the back of the room, but that's not all that's happening in the mirror: unlike in the real room, the baby is standing up in the crib and is looking at the rocking chair, which is going back and forth. Spooky. Here is a pic of the room from the teaser, that has been turned upside down so you can see the writing, which reads "What is happening to Hunter." Hunter is most likely the baby. http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/4994/pa2j.jpg Empire article: http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=28245 Official movie site: http://www.paranormalmovie.com/

    one big final/new points system.
  3. Trust me, it will be so worth it, and it will all depend on what your English department choose for you to study. I mentioned it as I thought it was a big deal, considering it was only written in 2005, and reminded me of how The Kite Runner, which was also written around the time, is being selected for study. You may even get Ishiguro's other novel, Remains of the Day :P For anyone who is interested here is a short, insightful clip of Ishiguro talking about the novel: -SmuYqKeTTs&feature=related And a lovely book trailer I found, that manages to sum a lot of the issues the book brings up, set to some lovely pictures and Sara Bareillie and Ingrid Michaelson's Winter Song. zTZlVer4p7c Both of these clips contain mild spoilers.
  4. The first person to review the Dark Knight (Rolling Stone's Peter Travers) and as a result set off of a chain of sucessful reviews and heated anticipation, has been the first to write about Inception after being shown early by WB; he has given it 3.5 stars out of 4 (the same he gave for TDK). The full review is in the latest issue of Rolling Stone and will be online soon but here is an article about the extract. "Can Christopher Nolan's Inception redeem this summer of awfulness? Maybe! Remember two summers ago when Rolling Stone's Peter Travers sent anticipation into high gear with the world's first review of The Dark Knight? His friends at Warner Bros. have shown him Inception early, too, and star-wise, at least, he liked it just as much (both movies got three and a half stars). But, as we've wondered before, will anyone understand the damn thing? Says Travers: The mind-blowing movie event of the summer arrives just in time to hold back the flow of Hollywood sputum that's been sliming the multiplex. Inception ... will be called many things, starting with James Bond Meets The Matrix. You can feel the vibe of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner in it, and Nolan's own Memento and The Dark Knight. But Inception glows with a blue-flame intensity all its own. Nolan creates a dream world that he wants us to fill with our own secrets. I can't think of a better goal for any filmmaker. Of course, trusting the intelligence of the audience can cost Nolan at the box office. We're so used to being treated like idiots. How to cope with a grand-scale epic, shot in six countries at a reported cost of $160 million, that turns your head around six ways from Sunday? Dive in and drive yourself crazy, that's how. For what it's worth, MTV's Josh Horowitz saw the film last night and also seemed a little baffled, letting loose this embargo-flouting tweet (via Anne Thompson): Okay, that film is going to take a while to process. It's not the second coming but there's a lot of awesome to chew on. less than a minute ago via UberTwitter Josh Horowitz joshuahorowitz So Inception sounds like something you'll need to see twice to completely appreciate. Should be no problem given all the money we've saved by skipping this summer's other tentpoles." Obsessedwithfilm has given these three comments in response to the extract: "1) Everyone understands the movie is James Bond meets The Matrix. This is not new. Back in January, Nolan himself called Inception ‘a fourth dimensional Bond movie’. Ah, but Travers is a poster-whore, who looks for pull-quote phrases. Shameful. 2) Everyone understands that Blade Runner is Nolan’s favourite movie growing up and certainly the one that most influenced him. You can feel the vibe of Ridley Scott’s classic in everything Nolan does, so this is an unnecessary comment. 3) The budget is more like $180-200 million, probably sans the mammoth advertising campaign. $160 million is short." source: http://www.obsessedwithfilm.com/movie-news...p#ixzz0sFeoJc9h
  5. I thought it was a bit too try-hard and desperate in how they wanted to hype the film, with the "OMG THIS IS A MUST SEE!" writing coming at you every five seconds, which meant the trailer didn't flow very well (let the footage sell the film!), that said it looks like they have gone all out on the battle scenes, and the cinematography at the beginning was just breathtaking  EDIT: I take back what I said about it not flowing well, I've had it on loop for a while now, and it's absolutely spellbinding. Ife I will give the benefit of the doubt in the long run, but this has just confirmed the suspicions I had about Josie, but I will wait another week before I make my mind up about her. Aside from the vile Dave, I much prefer the Ben/Sunshine/JJ/Mario group.
  7. Spoil sport :kink: Looking forward to the results, I hope my 18 pointer defies expectations.
  8. I suspected it would do badly when I entered it, and I think my love for it stems more out of the film I heard it in, but I don't think it's that bizarre a song to be honest (obviously I'm biased here), although I hate the fan made video that I was forced to use, there wasn't an alternative for that. I think now my mission is to not come last  the dream result would be to better the 54 points I got last contest, but judging from the reaction I somehow doubt it.
  9. I've just finished the book, the ending is absolutely heartbreaking :snif: easily one of the best books I've ever read. Interestingly, the script was written back in 2008, and according to wiki "appeared on the 2008 Brit List, a film-industry-compiled list of the best unproduced screenplays in British film." I've requested on another forum for a copy of the script, so I can give it a read, and if I get it, and anyone is interested, I will pass it along. Also I've found a very positive review from an early test screening of the film. "Sherman Oaks, CA. Arclight. Test Screening of Mark Romanek's new film, the screen adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel "Never Let Me Go. As someone who has always enjoyed Romanek's work I was very much looking forward to his latest film, not to mention it's been seven years since "One Hour Photo." The film was also adapted for the screen by Alex Garland (a fine novelist in his own right) and produced by Andrew Macdonald (DNA Films). Going in, I only knew that the novel dealt with For some reason and Romanek's vision conjured up some whacked version of "I-Robot" (maybe it's from seeing Romanek's Michael Jackson "Scream" video as of late). Fortunately "Never Let Me Go" is more in the vein of Alfonso Cuaron's "Children of Men" meets a Merchant/Ivory film with romantic hints of Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner." Garland has adapted Ishiguro's story into a very fine dramatic, disturbing, sci-fi, tragic-love story while Romanek's direction cements those elements with a very mature eye. I wasn't sure what I thought about this film while I was watching it. Didn't exactly love it and sure as hell didn't hate it. However, now that I've had some time to have it simmer around in my head for a bit, my feeling for "Never Let Me Go" leans heavily to very enthusiastic. It's nice to see a filmmaker mature in front of your very eyes and Romanek, as well as Garland, has certainly made gains (like any good, growing artist does). All the performances (from the young actors to the older actors) in the film are well rounded and Carey Mulligan as Kathy has a face that you can sink into and when the tragic love story comes to a head, you feel each and every tear that Kathy sheds. She deservedly earns the attention that is currently surrounding her career. Keira Knightley does a fine job as Ruth in a supporting part that gives her moments to flex her acting chops while integrating her beauty into the role. Andrew Garfield (a newcomer to stateside eyes, although great in the UK indie "Boy-A") gives Tommy an understated depth only to have it explode when he learns that The film's settings (all of which Romanek and the DP use fittingly) especially the "Cottages" is sure to remind viewers of "Children of Men" as well as some of the technology weaved into a not-too-distant bleak tomorrow. Whereas the love story between Kathy and Tommy echoes the relationship shared between Deckard and Rachael in "Blade Runner." On first viewing the film, I wasn't sure about the tone and pace but upon thinking about it more and seeing how the film plays out, the slow intentions seem to pay off and will seemingly work even better on a second viewing -- which I think the whole film will also play better during. Also of note, it was announced the music was a temp score, but I wouldn't mind if they kept some essence of it as it seem to fit fine. It will be interesting to see how an audience will react to this film. To be honest, I haven't felt like I did walking out of the theater since seeing P.T. Anderson's "There Will Be Blood." I can't help but think it will polarize audiences; there will be those who love it and those who will absolutely despise it. It's a film that doesn't spell everything out and asks the audience to listen and be patient for what ends up being a story that will make you question your own fate. Hat's off to Romanek and company for making a subtle, disturbing, tragic, and beautiful film."
  10. Oh ffs just as it gets interesting the video cuts!
  11. Watching it now, thanks for the link Jonjo :D edit: 10 mins in, and it's all very cliche, but LOL at that crazy old German guy. Awkward.
  12. I heard about this and the trailer is pretty good, could you send me a link too please Jonjo.
  13. Was it a surprise for you?
  14. New Caprica has finally voted, after giving the songs as much time as possible to grow. However, the top songs in my votes never changed. My #1 is simply outstanding and audacious, knocking a song down to second place that I didn't think would be topped

I saw the pilot way back when it was first shown over here, but I didn't keep up. I want to watch it mainly for Rachel Griffins, who I loved on Six Feet Under

  20. You summed up pretty much everything I came on here to say  Great post. I feel sorry for Ben in that he does not know how to handle these situations, and tbh, I really have no idea what he did that was so wrong in the first place to warrant such a attack. I also don't blame him for what he said in the diary room - about asking Big Brother to not tell the others about the hot water - people may think he is being a coward, but I would do the same thing if I was in his shoes. John Jame, Sunshine and the vile, horrible Dave overracted big time. It's a shame as I was really liking JJ and 'Sky' last night, up until that point. I found it funny how Govan and Shabby got away with what they said about Sunshine in code, which is what she should have felt more hurt about. Ben will most likely be going this week; after all of the drama he has been involved in, and combined with his already posh accent and unpopular elitism views I think he is unfortunately now pretty much guranteed to be the second evictee. It's a shame as he is one of the more interesting housemates to watch, and sticks to his opinon (such as on house democracy) no matter the reaction, which is refreshing. I think, people in general are more similar to Ben then they are to say Corin or Josie, and I find him one of the most down to earth and realistic people in there: which is something I never thought I would say.
  21. No problem, I've brought the book and I've read the first part, and it is already one of the most beautifully written and touching books I've ever read. No wonder it's being taught for literature, it's structurally magnificent. It's definitely worth a read if you get the chance and has got me even more excited for the movie.

I voted for David. He has a nasty core to him that he hides with that awful laugh and ridiculous religious views. For example, he clearly doesn't support gay rights, but then sugarcoats his repulsive attitude towards the subject by saying, "the Lord loves everyone though." I detest him. I've warmed slightly to Govan after his talk with Coirin, and I am sympathetic to how he feels, however if he does leave I wouldn't miss him for obvious reasons. I find Ben isn't malicious with what he says, it's more that he's a real fish out of water, and is very akward - shown by how much he needs the reassurance of other people and their advice on how to handle certain situations. Overall, I find Ben very likeable and interesting to watch. Mario has gone down in my estimations after his reaction to being nominated by Shabby; I think he showed an ugly side to his personality I hadn't seen before, to the point now that I wouldn't actually be that upset if he were to be evicted.
