I know who you feel Chris, we have to wait another month and three days  I may watch it online if a decent enough copy comes out.

It must have been that Armond White guy that they were tweeting about, as he was the first critic on RT to give a bad review. He broke the film's chain of 145 good reviews in a row. It's got a total of 2 negative reviews so far. Also, it made a impressive, but not unexpected, opening day gross on friday: $41 million. 60% of which was made from 3D buisness, 2,463 out of 4,028 screens were 3D, it boasted an average of $10,179. It is the biggest opening day for an animated film ever, edging out Shrek 2 which made $38.4 million, and ranks 12th among all opening days, pushing Alice In Wonderland down to 13th. Wall-E was Pixar's previous high; that made $23.2 million on its opening day. According to Boxofficemojo if it follows the same friday-loaded trend as Wall-E it will make around £110 million over the entire weekend. Source: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/

145 straight good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, on its way to beating the all time record of 147 held by Toy Story 2....and then he comes along <_< And not only that, he recommends watching Transformers 2 over it aswell

The positive reviews have made me even more eager to see it than before, if that is even possible. Shame that I won't be able to see it when it opens here, I really wanted to see it opening day. And Tyron, I take it you watched it online?

I absoultely love that line. the delivery is perfect  Allison Janey is so amazing, "Oh no, she's just screaming "Mom, Mom" 'cause she's got Tourettes. She's Annette's kid, dip$h!t." And Becky is just great, "My Mom gave me this 9mil for my birthday, I'll always remember what she wrote in the card. "Jesus loves winners". That's why, no matter what I do, I aim to win." Also her talent is just LOL worthy. I know whenever I see this film I feel so sad about what happens to her, she's so good at comedy. Her laugh is infectious, she has a classic line towards the end.

It's very much like Cloverfield, no one knows f*** all basically :P the only thing that has been confirmed is that "It will take place in 1979 and it will be a homage/tribute to Spielberg's 70's/80's science fiction films with a mystery and supernatural feel from Abrams." There's speculation it centers around a bunch of kids who are shooting a movie with a Super 8 camera and when they develop the film, they notice that there's an alien creature in the frame. It won't start filming until autumn this year, the trailer was made separately like Cloverfield, in April. And like Cloverfield the trailer was secretly attached to Iron Man 2 without people knowing (although news leaked of a secret tailer being released in front of Iron Man 2, so secret it was kept with prints of the film itself rather than the other trailers.) People thought it was a trailer for a new Cloverfield trailer, so I was kinda disapointed. Hopefully it will still happen though. And yay! I thought that Glee camparison will get you interested :P I hope you enjoy it.

These are all great films, I can't comment on Step Up 2 or Honey as I haven't watched them. And I so should have included Cloverfield in my list, one of the most exhilarating films I've ever watched on the big screen. It was the equivalent of a theme park ride, and the marketing before hand was the equivalent of standing in the queue; it was a cinematic experience and a half. I wish J.J would make a sequel like he said instead of practically doing a remake with Super 8 (the secret project he is working on with Spielberg.) Jonjo seeing as how you loved Cloverfield so much, you have to watch the trailer for Super 8. vpzUCA5i6zY Oh, and seeing as how you want to watch more indie films, and going by your sense of humour, I think you will love Drop Dead Gorgeous *hint hint* :P I just want someone else to watch it, so we can quote the killer one liners to eachother :( In a way it's a more sophisticated, sharper, funnier and darker version of Glee without the singing. Kristie Alley's character isn't too far removed from Sue. UPVbhMkNjKo (the whole film is on youtube)

This reminds me of when South Park ripped into Indiana Jones. "Why won't they stop!? They're raping him! They're raping him!" Well done for destroying what was a classic kids TV show. The only thing the film has going for it is Jama Mays

  16. Oh dear, looks like I'm not going to better or even match my debut smash of 54 points
  17. That's debatable, Nolan said the reason he didn't film in 3D is because the image is too dark, which is one of the biggest issues I have with it.
  18. Release Dates: 14/09/2010 (US) - 13/10/2010 (European premiere, opening London Film Fesitval) - 21/01/2011 (UK) Staring: Carey Mulligan, Andrew Garfield, Keira Knightley, Sally Hawkins and Charlotte Rampling. Director: Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) Writer: Alex Garland (Sunshine, 28 Days Later and author of 'The Beach) Plot: (The plot spells out the sci-fi element of the story, so I have put it in spoilers) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/25/Never_Let_Me_Go.jpg The trailer for the film has just been released. It is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Kazuo Ishiguro, which has been labelled one of the best books of the decade, and is already being taught in A-Level English Literature clases, similarly to Khaled Hosseini's The Kite Runner. It tells the tale of three friends; Kathy (Carey Mulligan), Tommy (Andrew Garfield) and Ruth (Keira Knightley) who are pupils at an idyllic English boarding school called Hailsham. Seperated from the outside world and with no apparant family, they are repeatedly told by their teacher (Sally Hawkins) and headmistress (Charlotte Rampling) that they are 'special' and seem destined for a short life and untimely death after a series of 'donations'. Unless, they can prove that they have fallen in love. It seems to be an early frontrunner come Oscar season, and it's not surprising considering the themes it deals with and the talent working on it; (it is directed by the same person who directed the rather brilliant 2002 psychological thriller, One Hour Photo, and written by the person who wrote the screenplay for the gem of a movie Sunshine. If you haven't seen either, they are both worth checking out). Here is an Empire Online article about the film and the trailer http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=28137 And the trailer itself: kymQcM4ej3w
  19. Thanks, I love, love, love it  If you haven't already you should check these out and they might change your mind: Breathe Me (my favourite song by her), Soon We'll Be Found, Sunday, Buttons and The Girl You Lost to Cocaine, they are her highlights to me.

It's a good argument in regards to encouraging more people to continue with school (although a student should want to attend to get the grades to go to uni, not so they can get £30 to spend on a nice pair of shoes. If that is the case, then they probably also lack the motivation to push themselves to do well in exams. Education is not for everyone) there's only that one point I have conflicting views with; if they don't need EMA to help support them in attending further education (in terms of books, transport etc.) then I don't think they should recieve anything. A lot of the schools, like Danny said, already have funds in place to support families, although not all schools are well funded: so instead of giving it directly to the kid's bank account, why not just give the school the money. So it's like one account, and the school controls the flow of it, that way they can give it out to the people that genuinely depend on it on a case to case basis, regardless of income? That way it stops it being used on spending for the sake of it, although the money would be just sitting there and as you said it could be used to increase aggregatre supply. That being said, on principle, wouldn't that be a fairer distribution of the money than simply transfering it a child's bank account that might not necessarily need it? The main point I want to make though is that some people might deceptively appear to have a high income, don't qualify for EMA, but when it comes to disposable income they may have less than the family that recieves EMA. I'm pretty sure I'm right in saying they don't take into account the amount of interest a family have to pay, their household bills etc. So because of the difference in the amount of debt or mortgage the two families have, the apparantly richer working class family could be in a worse financial position. I'm not sure if I made that point very eloquently, or if my assumption is accurate, so please correct me if I'm wrong. It may just be based on personal experience, but that is something that bugs me about means testing, the same thing goes for grants to help with university. I won't be able to claim anything in grants or bursaries, I do volunteer work I don't get paid, my parents haven't got the money to loan me, so it's a pretty frustrating situation to be in, although that's going off the point.

  22. I listened to the recap and boo at B.a.N.G for sending a remix of In My Heart  I was sitting on the live MTV version for a future contest (the arrangement for that is brilliant, Casey if you haven't heard it yet check it out here) G43qytnO6Ao At least I still have Diane Charlemagne's live version of In This World that I can possibly use
  23. I'll just echo the thanks Pavel, well done  And hell yes, a Metric song! Love the Fantasies album, I was considering sending Collect Call for my debut.
  24. Listening to Home and just wow :o After the stunning The Liar and the Lighter it has been a great start. Here's hoping this level of quality continues.
  25. I have no idea how to work out odds, but after my first listen I will rank them in order of which song I think is most likely to win.
