The Tree of Life ~ The best film of 2011 ~
But surely this is more of a landmark film, so has less chance of being forgotten than The Kids are All Right? And Brad Piit will make sure to run a good campaign and will be hitting the circuit hard, whereas I don't think that happened for TKAAR, I know Annette Benning didn't work the circuit anyway. I want to see this so bad.

BJSC XXXVI - Predictions
Well maybe I'm letting personal bias of the song cloud my judgement, but I think it's a very powerful/emotive song ala Riverside, and I can easily see it being a dark horse that snatches the win. I certainly would love it to.

It's a shame judging from the predictions/odds that my song is looking to inevitably DNQ, as it's easily my favourite entry to the contest so far, and something I thought would be BJSC-friendly.

BJSCXXXVI - Semi-Finals: The Voting
I like Unfriend You actually, but I find it a little childish; it reminds me of Eoghan from the X Factor who's first song was all about his girlfriend's 10,000 friends on Myspace. A moving on song that revolves around deleting your ex from Facebook, what is the break up anthem coming to. EDIT: Despite what I said, after listening to my favourite tracks three times, I've pretty much got my Top 10 sorted, just need to decide on a final order. The only one I'm not sure on is my #10. I think I'll be ready to vote tomorrow, and I'll give hints to my Top 10 afterwards.

BJSCXXXVI - Semi-Finals: The Voting
I've had my first listen through, and I've now ranked them in iTunes in terms of tempo, so it prevents songs fading into the background. I must say, although there is a lot of dance, there's a few more chilled and acoustic tracks that are really moving me at the moment. I haven't heard any of these songs before either. While I'm nowhere near making my Top 10 yet, my top pointers are becoming clearer.

The Brothers Grimm: Mirror, Mirror (2012)
I love the Brothers Grimm's tales, and I think in general fairy tales lend themselves well to film adaptions (very visual, imaginative, short), but there's another Snow White adaption being made atm too, so it's getting a bit crowded. I would love to see someone tackle another Angela Carter Bloody Chamber story though.

Brave
Ha! :D Seriously though, this looks like Pixar back on form. The Monsters Inc prequel on the other hand, no thanks.

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2
Me too, although I think overall Part 1 is not going to get near Eclipse's $300m and I can't see Part 2 doing much better either. It will be more frontloaded than the Deathly Hallows films.

'The Edge Of Glory' • 3rd Single Thread
The Friendly Fires cover is wonderful. On US radio it looks like EOG has reached it's peak; it's been crawling lately, and today it's lost some airplay. Still a very decent peak, and it was close to matching Born This Way. 6. LADY GAGA - The Edge Of Glory: 105.668 (- 0.371) However, she's currently on a promo tour of the US, and is appearing on So You Think You Can Dance and Jimmy Kimmel this week so it could start rising again, although I doubt it.

Video Rumours • A ton of freakshow people including Bionic Gaga, Mermaid Gaga, a “Sno Cone Man,” etc. • Gaga will be playing the piano in the middle of the cornfield with Jo Calderone* sitting on top of the piano and watching Gaga. • Gaga and Luc kissing in the cornfield at night as fireworks go off. Luc pushes Gaga down and runs away. • Luc’s El Camino, Ginger, is on set. • Gaga getting married inside the barn. • Dancers doing choreography in the crop circle made in the field. • Jonas Morales rumored to be directing the video. • Part of the video was filmed in LA and today is the last day of the video shoot. • Will be released in Early August. Also, there's a rumour that the song has been remixed to be more uptempo. * Jo Calderone is GaGa's male alter-ego; as 'Jo' GaGa did a photoshoot for Vogue Japan and did a faux-interview. GaGa also tweets as him occasionaly too http://twitter.com/#!/jocalderone

Paranormal Activity 3
I found the first film terrifying when I first watched it, due to the fact that I knew hardly anything about the film, just that it was getting a lot of buzz. When I re-watch it now though, it doesn't scare me much at all, but I can still appreciate that it’s a well paced and done spook flick. The second on the other hand was far too long (I saw the unrated/uncut version I think) and dull, and the series has already fallen into a predictable pattern that zaps a lot of the dread. I hated how they tried to give some really eye rolling exposition as to why they’re being haunted, which killed a lot of the fear I had about the demon; it was terrifying because it was random, unstoppable, unexplained. I did think the dragging sequence was as effective in the sequel as it was in the first though; it was a disturbing moment seeing the mum try and get to her son while being dragged violently into the basement. Katie remained as adorable as she was in the first film and her sister was almost as likeable as well, and I was actually routing for the possessed Katie when she snapped her SOB brother-in-law's neck; why in these films are all the husbands dicks?

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I agree to an extent, and I didn't mind as much once I got used to his style of writing, but be ready for one long ass IKEA trip in the second part. Oh, I love a good murder mystery too; once I started tentatively reading it again after a long break, the part when Henrik explains the Harriet mystery was what made me think "here we go!" But then Mikael's storyline slows to a snail's pace again when he first starts researching the case; it wasn't until Lisbeth and Mikael finally started working together and they started having breakthroughs that I really got into it, and I was quite shocked with how dark it got. I think the endless dead ends and build up actually made it more effective when the horrible picture started to come together. I am really looking forward to the next trailer actually, just to see more Mara in action, and to hear their Swedish accents - I just hope it's as well put together as the first one, which I really think is a masterclass in how to do a good teaser. I loved how all the shots were intercut with the POV driving up to Henrik's house, and how they created a real sense of dread about it. Wonderful. And oh yes, the incidents with Bjurman play a big part throughout the books.

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2
No problem, any excuse to put my inner Harry Potter nerd to good use; and you definitely should, if you enjoyed the films then I think it's a safe bet you will enjoy the books too. The first three are pretty easy to storm through given they are quite miniscule in length, and once they start becoming tomes latter on, the mythology is appropiately deepened with it. There are lots of character development and subplot that the movies missed that would make it worthwhile and in general there is more depth to the world and you see more of how it is run, more politics etc Oh, I really hated how left no body behind, it was a pointless change.

http://twitter.com/#search?q=continuation%20to%20telephone Lot of talk on twitter about it, but I don't know, the source is @TimGaGa who is a big member on GGD; it's not exactly reliable. People are saying that she's walking down the road after leaving the Pussy Wagon behind, and she's shooting it in Nebraska to throw people off the scent - I guess there will be no end to the speculation now until the video actually premieres. IF it is true, Highway Unicorn would fit well AND would be an 'unexpected single'; it's not controversial lyric wise, has a good message that sums up the album, is catchy - it could work. I can see another EOG disappointment among stans though if it turns out to be just GaGa singing You and I around a barn or something, and I have no idea where Yuyi will fit into all this. Btw Liam, You and I went Top 10 on iTunes for a few days in the US after the album was released; it was massively cherry picked there - given some airplay, a video and VMA performance it could be a smash. People may not like the song, but I think it's one of the few commercial songs left on the album; Scheiße may be a fan favourite but it wouldn't work in the US, it could be another Judas on radio and she can't afford another one of those. If she does make it a single, it should be towards the end of the campaign when it doesn't really matter what the hell she releases.

MTV Video Music Awards 2011
These nominations are, and have always been, about what's hot with the general public rather than being based purely on the quality of the video; which is a given. I'm sure if Judas had been a No.1 smash it would have picked up more noms. The only thing I'm disappointed with is Born This Way not getting a nod for Video of the Year and Hold It Against Me and S&M being completely snubbed - happy that Power and Yonkers are getting some attention though.

Picture of GaGa on the set of her new video; apparently they are filming in Nebraska. I don't think there's much more room left for debate on what the next single is. http://i.imgur.com/CIUnN.jpg

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2
- SPIDERMAN 4 CANCELLED, FRANCHISE REBOOTED
The Dark Knight had a greater scope and took things up a notch, had a much better villain etc but Batman Begins narrative was a lot tighter instead of being as sprawling and the only weak link I can see is Katie Holmes - it's just as solid a film in a different way and the script is just as good. Oh, I forgot about The Avengers, it really is going to have a tough job sticking out, I could see this having First Class numbers tbh.- SPIDERMAN 4 CANCELLED, FRANCHISE REBOOTED
I've just gone back through the thread, and what is with the Batman Begins hate? It is just as good as The Dark Knight, and is narratively tighter, just needed to get that of my chest haha. As for the trailer, it makes the film seem more like a recent teen horror remake than a supposed summer blockbuster and that Mirror Edge sequence was truly bad. If it wants to be successful and make itself stand out it needs to start giving details of the villain, especially if it doesn't want to get overshadowed by The Dark Knight Rises. As of now all I'm getting is deja vu aside from the new plot about Parker's parents, on that note, boo hiss at Campbell Scott - I can't stand him as an actor. I think that Andrew Garfield seems a pretty good fit as Parker, I haven't read the comics, but he fits the awkward, gangly teenager down to a tee - not to mention he's a great actor. Emma Stone should also be a lot more bareable than Dunst as the love interest too.- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The interview he did with Esquire magazine? I'm so pumped after reading his comments. Here is another interesting article by Variety that shows just how happy the Swedish Film Industy are with Fincher's adaptions http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118039957- Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2
"The gently smiling Dolores Umbridge, with her girlish voice, toadlike face, and clutching, stubby fingers, is the greatest make-believe villain to come along since Hannibal Lecter." - Stephen King Maybe that quote will please you :D She's just such a deliciously evil character in the books, that I absolutely love to hate, and Imelda plays her wonderfully, even if I imagine her to be a little more twisted.- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I found the first book hard to get into at first, I actually stopped reading for a while, his prose can be so stodgy at times and he describes everything. To. The. Last. Detail. I couldn't give a f*** what type of Apple Mac Lisbeth is using or what type of coffee Mikael is drinking. It took me until the last half of the book before I really couldn't put it down, and it was purely because of Salander that I kept going at first (easily one of my favourite literacy characters ever) but if you think this one is good, your in for a treat with the second part; it's funny that even though he planned for 10 odd books it works rather well as a trilogy. I've said it before, but the teaser trailer is probably one of the best I've seen, I've lost count of the times I've watched it; it'a bit of a nitpick but I wish they didn't change the "She's coming" in the red band trailer to just "Coming" though for the green band version. This is my most anticpated movie easily, I cannot friggin' wait. I do love Rapace, but I think that Mara looks more in tune with how I imagined Lisbeth (like a scawny teenager), Daniel Craig is pretty much perfect casting and I think Fincher is going to give us a more satisfying movie than the Swedish adaption.- UNKNOWN PLEASURES [VI]
Congrats to Triangles, Flames is a great song that just missed out on points for me. I must say that I'm disappointed Hoop Dreams only managed #20; just saw the video for it, and it's as wonderfully bat$h!t crazy as the song. Also, I couldn't help noticing that Larraine had a similar melody to Lykke Li's Jerome, loved the song nonetheless. I'm glad that people seemed to enjoy Reprise, it's my personal favourite entry to date, I adore that piece of music. I am gradually inching my way up the scorebored, although I'm completely out of ideas of what to send to the next contest, normally I have a good idea of what to enter even at this stage. - SPIDERMAN 4 CANCELLED, FRANCHISE REBOOTED
