It's quite incredible really, I didn't think it would do this well, lets see how long it will take them to announce a sequel :kink: Also, with 3D rising ticket prices, it might be the case that more and more films speed past these barriers faster than ever. I wonder if the the trend will continue with Clash of the Titans, How to Train Your Dragon, Skrek Forever After, Toy Story 3 etc.

Yup, weekend predictions underestimated. It's the fifth best second weekend ever in North America; 1) Avatar $75,617,183 2) The Dark Knight $75,166,466 3) Shrek 2 $72,170,363 4) Spider-Man $71,417,527 5) Alice in Wonderland $62,714,076 6) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest $62,345,264 Friday: $17,300,000 155.7% on Thursday / 57.6% on last Friday Saturday: $26,800,000 54.9% on Friday / 39.4% on last Saturday Sunday: $17,900,000 -33.2% on Saturday / -42.4% on last Sunday 46.4% on last weekend overall. Not as bad as the steep 57% predicted.
  4. Dear God the new video is horrible, the old one fit the tone of the song perfectly and was unique while this seems forced. Not to mention this song has been available to buy since 2008! And got the attention it deserved after her Brits win, and then again after the success of You Got The Love and it's use for the Channel 4 trailer for Slumdog. If I'm not mistaken it has matched the success of Rabbit Heart by getting a Top 15 peak, that is good enough. EDIT: It peaked it in the Top 25. There are so many other good songs on the album that deserve a release; Cosmic Love Girl With One Eye Howl Bird Song Falling Hurricane Drunk Between Two Lungs Blinding

Estimates have Alice grossing $17,400,000 on its second friday 57.4% on last friday. Green Zone is a distant second with $5,000,000. Looking like it's heading for a very strong second weekend total (one of the best ever), however weekend predictions have Alice on course for a sharp 57% drop from last weekend (recent family films second weekend declines have been in the range of 12% to 45%) due to the massive rush to see the film in its opening weekend and "unimpressive" word of mouth. As a result a second weekend gross of $58m is predicted, with the film crossing the $200m barrier in 10 days. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=2685&p=.htm (Weekend preview) http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2010/03/13/...nd-remember-me/ (Box Office Update) btw here is the boxofficemojo article analyzing Alice's opening weekend - it's an interesting read. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=2684&p=.htm As of this Friday Alice in Wonderland's total stands at; Domestic: $164,025,000 + Foreign: $94,000,000 (foreign total hasn't been updated) = $258,025,000 Friday: $40,804,962 Saturday: $44,209,073 8.3% Sunday: $31,086,988 -29.7% Monday: $9,008,430 -71% Tuesday: $7,976,108 -11.5% Wednesday: $6,772,798 -15.1% Thursday: $6,766,997 -0.1% Friday: $17,400,000 157.1% / -57.4% Alice fell 25% from monday to wednesday, but overall it has maintained decent momentum throughout the week according to boxofficemojo.

Just watched Dr.Linus and it's easily the best episode of Season Six so far, and probably better than any Season Five episode too. Ilana is fast becoming one of my favourite characters, especially after her scene with Ben, and I can't wait to see her backstory (at least I hope we do). And what can be said about Michael Emerson that hasn't been said already, his pleading scene is one of the most moving scenes in the show so far. Oh, and to give you lot the heads up, the ABC website are running a promo competition - you have to make a promo for the final episode using the movie maker the site provides (they give you the clips, music etc) and if you win, your promo will be used to promote the final show in a prime time slot. You can also use your own tools if you prefer, and there are helpful guides on how to make a promo, and they are quite easy to do. http://abc.go.com/shows/lost/fan-promo-contest Although it's not open for people outside of America, I still managed to make one and it was uploaded onto the ABC site (so I'm not sure if it is in fact possible for mine to be selected, but it's all a bit of a fun anway). If you make one, make sure you keep the link (and post it on here so we can check out eachothers work :P ) because it took me ages to find mine again. http://lost-promo-contest.abc.go.com/published/5647 Here is the masterpiece itself :kink: it's a bit of an (epic) fail - I tried to fit in both character moments and action into 35 seconds, and I should have stuck with one or the other. I definitely suggest you stick to just one tone, otherwise it will be a bit all over the place. Good luck to anyone who enters. bxYSs_4NXQU Really like the promo for the next episode, the song and tone are great, and don't worry it doesn't give anything away.

I've got to say I am so f***ing glad they are out of the Temple now for good, one of the worst settings they have had on the show. Also I'm still finding it hard to connect on a emotional level to the sideways flashes, at the moment I don't care about them at all. The best thing about Sundown being Flocke of course, and Claire who I find chilling and captivating, I can't wait to see what happens to her. Also when Frank, Ben, Ilana and Sun turned up during the Temple takedown, I was like finally some more characters I actually care about; and when Ben runs away from evil Sayid I couldn't help but laugh. Hopefully now people have chosen their respective sides, character storylines and motivations have been set up, and we are out of the Temple, the episodes will get increasingly better. Oh, and the ending was great, with Claire's singing 'Catch a Falling Star', and the way MiB looked at Claire and Sayid as they walked towards him, and then the way he looked at Kate and then turned and walked off. So atmospeheric and the first time this season I've thought after an episode has aired, "wow season six is finally going places" and the first time I'm clueless at where the story is going (another plus of getting rid of the Temple).
  9. Lean On Me to #24 It's my favourite Glee song at the moment, have it on repeat
  10. Lean On Me to #24 One of my favourite Glee songs, stunning  And come on DSSCtM / YG the only song by Mr. Schu I actually like. And oh btw Tinie, Gabriella's coming, so get out of the way :kink:
  11. Think: Flop Want: #1 I love Paramore, and as others have said their new song is very different from their other singles and I love it. However I can only really see it cracking the low Top 100, around the #95 mark.

Weekend estimates for North America put the weekend gross at a massive $116,300,000 :o I was not expecting this to make over $100m in it's opening weekend, even when I saw that it made an impressive $40m on Friday. That means that it has held terrifically well over the three days. Eating its dust in second place is Brooklyn's Finest with $13,500,000 while last week's number #1, Shutter Island, slips to #3 with $13,300,000. Easily the most impressive opening for a film since Avatar and Burton's highest grossing film out of the gate by a country mile: the Planet of the Apes remake is his previous best, grossing $68,532,960 in its opening weekend, while Charlie and the Chocolate Factory remains his highest grossing movie overall with $206,459,076, and Alice is looking to pass that total with ease :cheer: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/ EDIT: Damn beat me to it :P

Madonna - American Pie. My parents hate her for it, and I do like the original, but I do have this to say about Madonna's version I.... like love it  I find it such a relaxing tune and I love the production and beat. It's a bit like Ray of Light, the only other Madonna song I adore

Love this song more and more with each listen  It's currently #57 on iTunes two places from #59 earlier today. I wonder if it will stall now or if it will keep rising and crack the Top 40.

Thanks Lewymocha for posting the link to the Jay Leno performance, first time I've heard the song and I love it. The set was incredible as well. Just downloaded from iTunes, but I have got to say I can see why people dislike it, even though the phrase is over used 'Alice' really is pure marmite.

I understand your fears, but in the trailer the line he gives, "Maybe he should be called ass kick instead" or something and he gives that laugh is hilarious and any misgivings I had about him went out the window. And Mr Self Destruct how do you know Empire gave it 5 stars, is it in the new #250 issue? I know they have talked about how good it is, but I haven't actually seen a review for it yet. All signs pointing to this being one of the best films of 2010
