Game of Thrones
It just kept going on and on, I was watching it this morning and my brother was in the room, and I didn't know what to do with myself to make it any less awkward. That scene was hilarious, but I shudder imagine watching it with my parents. Along with True Blood, I guess it will have to be my dirty, secret late night watch. Oh, and the last two episodes have been fantastic, the only gripe I have with the show is the cliche faux Shakespearean dialogue and accents, which can be a bit eye rolling at times; I have got used to it now though.

Nicola Roberts - Beat of My Drum
I find the fact that she is insecure rather endearing actually; I love the fact that such an unassuming background member of a girl band has come out with such great left-field electronic music, I think the surprise of it makes the whole thing even better.

Born This Way vs Femme Fatale
It's not just Britney though, some people go to concerts for artists they have only heard and liked one song by them. Surely, you only go to concerts for artists that you have a real passion for? Unless the ticket is cheap, there are very few people I would be willing to pay to go and see.

BJSC XXXIV - Final (Voting)
Good luck Hits :D and the songs from Semi Final 1 really surprised my, considering people were saying it was the weaker of the two. My 12 pointer came from there, and that song and video, I just fell utterly in love with it and I've had it on repeat today. My favourite discovery I've made in BJSC so far.

Why Has 'Judas' Underperformed?
It's not a particularly 'likeable' song, and it believes it's more than the sum of its parts; it just doesn't all come together as a song and feels disjointed and can be a jarring listen. The religious imagery didn't help either, people did find it offensive and some people just did not 'get' the Judas reference. In short audiences didn't connect with it on a wide enough scale. The Edge of Glory, Hair or Marry the Night would have worked far better as the second full single, and Judas should haven been relegated to an iTunes countdown release. This is all of couse, commerically speaking, because I really like Judas and the video, and I actually like the fact that GaGa has the freedom to make something as unmarketable-sounding as Judas an album leading single, and the fact that she can choose to make her album cover a half-motorbike, half-human hybrid picture. I like that she takes risks even if they don't pay off.

BJSC XXXIV - Final (Voting)
Shocked I got through to be honest, considering hardly anyone predicted me to, was a pleasent surprise ^_^ The songs I haven't heard yet will have to be shockingly good if they are going to snatch the 12 points away from my favourite song from Semi Final 2.

Kate Bush ~ Where to start for a newcomer.
When I went to my local HMV their Kate Bush section was empty (they had the Director's Cut front of shop though), which I found quite surprising, so I've ordered Hounds of Love from Amazon. 5 days and nadda. I went in today to see if any more stock had come in, and they had one copy of The Dreaming, I was tempted to buy it but I need the money for a night out tomorrow. Wish I had waited now, because from the way people are describing it, TD seems exactly my type of thing. The more quirky the better. russt68 thanks for all the info btw.

BJSC XXXIV - Semi Finals (Voting)
New Caprica has votes, my semi final was STRONG, and there was two songs that narrowly missed out on points. It will be interesting to see if a non-KPop, more BJSC friendly entry will do better or worse than my normal offerings.

'Born This Way' ● Album Discussion Thread
Having said that I'm growing tired of some of the songs after a week, I had my third full listen through, and I fell in back in love with all of then like it was my first time listening. For me, there's isn't a bad song on there, apart from The Queen; I find that song to be pure filler and utterly forgetable. Marry the Night, Born This Way, Government Hooker, Judas, Americano, Hair, Scheisse, Highway Unicorn (Road to Love), Heavy Metal Lover, You and I and The Edge of Glory are ALL anthems for me. For one album to have so many for me is quite a feat. The intro for Americano is ridiculously theratical, and that's no bad thing, I love how OTT it is. I also think the bonus tracks are getting alot more hate than they deserve, Black Jesus + Amen Fashion is a great pop song, the middle 8 is particularly delicious, and Fashion of His Love is also a guilty pleasure of mine. My ranking of the songs (because a score would be ever so slightly inflated). 1. Marry the Night 2. Highway Unicorn (Road to Love) 3. Americano 4. Born This Way 5. You and I 6. Hair 7. Heavy Metal Lover 8. Government Hooker 9. Bloody Mary 10. The Edge of Glory (more stipped down and this would be perfect) 11. Scheisse 12. Electric Chapel 13. Black Jesus + Amen Fashion 14. Judas 15. Bad Kids 16. Fashion of His Love 17. The Queen Subject to change of course.

Your right, I misread, my bad  For me, Bad Kids has always been a good song, the verses in particular. I also don't get the dislike for Highway Unicorn (Road to Love) the intro is amazing, it's ridiculously catchy, and it's the song that pretty much underpins the main ideas behind the album along with Born This Way. I love the "she has a rainbow syrup in her heart that she bleeds" line. In fact it's probably in the Top 5 overall for me, despite being my least anticpated on the album; one of the few songs that I haven't grown tired of AT ALL yet. With Heavy Metal Lover coming afterwards, it's such a one-two knockout.

She sold 500,000 + on the first day alone not including her Amazon sales. Insane. So in total she sold around 800,000 in the US on monday; the fact that there were some predictions a month ago that she would 'only' sell 400,000 first week are laughable in hindsight.

Kate Bush ~ Where to start for a newcomer.
I have been a casual Kate Bush fan for a while, and with her re-release out now, it has inspired me to start buying her back cataoluge. I was going to purchase the Director's Cut album, but wasn't sure whether that's a good place to start for someone who hasn't listened to any of her albums before. Should I just buy her debut album and start from there, or is there a specific album I should listen to first? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
While the Swedish original is great and Noomi Rapace is fantastic as Lisbeth, I don't get the reviews and people that call it flawless. It's a pretty uneven film in my opinion (I would like to see the unedited version that was shown on Swedish TV though to see if that is any better), and the film adapations only get worse as they go on. There's definite room for improvement here, and I'm quitely optimistic it will be considering the talent working on it, and I've NEVER said that about a remake before. Also, it's been confirmed the infamous scene with her Guardian Nils Burjman will be included, in fact, that was the scene that the actresses had to do for their audtion "to see if they had what it takes". Fincher has also said that the Salander is this film is more angry and tough and her softer side is displayed less often. Blomkvist's womanising has also apparantly been toned down.

The Adventures of Tintin | December 2011
I got to say I was pretty ambivalent towards the whole thing, especially with Empire literally wanking over every last little detail of it. The whole project seems to me to be more about the technology involved in the film making, than the film itself. Avatar 2.0. The teaser trailer though has changed my opinion somewhat. I will of course be seeing this opening weekend, as long as the reviews aren't abysmal.

The Tree of Life ~ The best film of 2011 ~
It doesn't seem Oscar bait to me, cinematography and possibly Director aside, I can't see it being nominated; especially given its summer release date in America. It's early days yet though. Also, here is another fantastic poster. http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lkusw136SD1qz6geoo1_500.jpg EDIT: Funnily enough, I just saw this on tumblr  http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lkupr39m541qibesgo1_500.jpg

The Tree of Life ~ The best film of 2011 ~
http://www.screenhead.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/the_tree_of_life_movie_poster_01.jpg Release Date: 27th May (US) ~ Release pushed back in the UK. Starring: Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain, Sean Penn, Fiona Shaw, Crystal Mantecon, Tamara Jolaine, Joanna Going, Jackson Hurst Plot: From Terrence Malick, the acclaimed director of such classic films as "Badlands", "Days of Heaven" and "The Thin Red Line", "The Tree of Life" is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950's. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick's signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life. It got strong reactions at Cannes, with some people booing and hissing and others appluading, but with cosmic sequences apparantly lasting 15 minutes without a human face to be seen, it's going to have that effect. But this is Terrence Malick, so you know it's going to look f***ing beautiful, and from the trailer it seems to me to have the most stunning shots he's done. I am so pumped for this, especially as the theme, ideas and story really resonates with me at the moment. WXRYA1dxP_0&feature=player_embedded

CONFIRMATION - BJSC XXXIV
Done, it took me forever to get round to doing. Lazay.
