iTunes Chart: September (II)
The two biggest hits release this year were available on the on air on sale policy, and that's no coincidence. Labels seem to prioritise chart peaks over sales, and that doesn't really make sense. Sure, it helps when you can bill your artist on the basis that they've had a #1, but this is a business... Suppressing downloads leads to a loss in revenue. I know singles aren't exactly highly profitable, but when they're not readily available it encourages piracy. Not a good idea. I sincerely doubt that, but thanks anyway! I don't really post here but I'm a moderator on another forum. Yes, their sales are very front-loaded but they don't peak at #1. That's the difference.

Why did the on air on sale policy last five minutes? The OCC need to update their rules and put an end to this chart fixing. We wouldn't have had half of these ridiculous #1s this year had they been available from the get go. Download suppression died out years ago in the US yet it's still alive and well in the UK. A #1 in the UK means nothing nowadays, there's a new #1 every other week.

iTunes Chart: January 2011 (II)
Did they push back Ke$ha's release date? I know she was supposed to go head to head with Adele, but I just noticed that DS (they're normally reliable when it comes to singles release dates) have changed the release date and now have it under the week of January 24th.

Adele should have released. A few years ago it may have been more effective to suppress downloads to build demand, but nowadays two months is simply too long. Rolling In The Deep had its première in November. Songs should be released within a month of their première date. Adele will definitely have lost sales over the Xmas period.

They should release Rebecca's single too.

Do you have a list of the best-selling singles since you began tracking sales vidcapper? I think it would be interesting to see, thanks in advance.

UK Combined Sales/Airplay Chart
This method is not accurate at all. The US chart does not award points according to positions, they add actual sales to the total audience impressions. Why don't you do it that way?

iTünes Thread · MARCH (PART II) Broken Down
I remember Alicia Keys was at no.2 and no.10 with 'No One', but that was in America. It looks like the second version of Telephone will go top ten :)

:) It may take a while longer to climb to number 3 because the gap is still considerably larger. I'm glad it's doing so well anyway
