I'm not sure anyone is suggesting Melanie C do nothing just that some of us have a different perspective on it. It is like Mel B being a tv personality, she is but it is mainly low rent stuff and it is stuff a lot of reality 'stars' and C listers also do. Melanie C doing nostalgia festivals are to me the same as Mel B doing some crappy tv show, yeah she is booked but it is very low on the ladder of their chosen career. I just don't need to try and convince myself that what Mel B, Emma or Melanie C are doing is remotely 'oh I have to watch, attend or buy this' stuff anymore. Hopefully all are happy, paying the bills and satisfied. I aint queueing up for 45 minutes on 4 devices like I did for the Spice Girls 2019 tour to get tickets and that feeling of excitement from the announcement, buying tickets and going to the concerts for any solo project from any of them. I'm not at all saying people cant enjoy solo projects, just for the most part I don't enjoy them. I guess the main problem is because of the Spice Girls I'm still invested in the girls but not in their solo careers.

I thought her acting had improved? That was cringe. Interesting to see her pushing the song with the ringtone again and good on her for getting out and doing a book tour.

Melanie C of 15 years ago wouldn't be seen dead at Brighton pride. She saw herself as way above that sort thing. It is only because the hits and other oppurtunities have dried up that she is now a nostalgia festival act. She was doing Isle of white so she could get big festivals back then. People being happy she is booked and others realising that most of it is low rent bookings and she would probably much rather be doing better things can both be true or valid. It is like Glastonbury, Melanie C played a small tent with a lot of names I've never heard of. With the Spice Girls she would be a main headliner on the main stage making massive waves and headlines. You can celebrate the 'wins' like Glastonbury whilst also recognising it is only second place.

She wasn't the main headliner more a warm up act. Tickets for Brighton pride were being discounted to get rid too. It pales massively when you think 4 years ago they were selling out Wembley stadium 3 times over. Melanie C played that Wimbledon gig to a nearly empty field just a few days ago. For every pride there is still a DJ set or a festival that is absolute trash. It is like settling for mouldy bread when you can have cheesecake and thinking the bread is amazing. I love Emma but boring covers, Christmas gigs, nappies, lord give me strength.

Their solo careers are rubbish. If it wasn't Melanie C or Emma or Geri would anyone really care about these projects? You can big up Brighton pride or kids books or all Emma's projects but if any of it was by Claire Richards or Louise I wouldn't care at all because it is all so blah. The only interesting thing about their solo careers is they are former Spice Girls and the 10 year old me wants them to be happy and keep track of them. But as for the actual projects it is a hard no to pretty much all of it (bar new music).

Interesting, wonder what some of their popular album tracks like Love Thing, Move Over and NGUOTGT have sold in the US if Voodoo and Tell me why have done 10k.

I mean it is an absolutely massive song, should be up there sales wise with massive hits of the past but streams skew so heavy towards modern huge hits getting ridiculously high sales totals.

The album chart is in a way now that multi formatting will almost ensure any act a decent or high 1st week position. Mel C didn't suddenly become way more popular releasing Melanie C just her fans purchased 5 or 6 copies not the normal 1 or 2 1st week. It still bombed out the chart 2nd week. Same with Emma, LIM sold a lot more 1st week than MHP but that was a much healthier time for album sales and she was much more popular in 2006 than 2019. It is just in 2019 the albums market is dead and she has enough loyal fans to buy 4 copies of her album to get a decent chart placing. If Mel B released an album this year with 3 vinyls, 2 cds and 2 cassettes plus downloads and streaming there is no way she would miss the top 20.

They all had varrying degrees of success with solo music but to me these days it is all a load of pish apart from the new music Melanie C (and Emma) release. Dj sets or Carfest/random festival are as boring as Kit and Kin or selling nappies to me. I'll always give new music a listen and support it, it is probably the only thing Geri could do I would invest time or money in same with Mel B. Obviously it is nice to see them happy with whatever they all choose to do and earning money but I'm not going to fool myself into thinking anything they do these days solo wise isn't just D list stuff that Lisa Scott Lee or some random reality star is doing.

Nice milestone, hopefully it can keep growing. Christmas Wrapping is averaging over 430 plays a day already. Ready to take over when SUYL cools off.

Sounds pretty much like I would expect tbh. Hannah being more of a pain than the other 5 (6 before Paul died). Most tickets already sold and Simon probably saw it as a good time to out Hannah with the rebrand after Paul's death. The article at the bottom confirms that agents for S Club say Hannah didn't sogn the initial contract and the group aren't in contact with her.

Nothing has changed, I don't discuss every single thing on here as there are other places I discuss Spice Girls too. My opinion on Geri's is exactly the same as Leigh-Anne's she doesn't deserve it and hasn't earned it. Fake silly PR nonsense. Just because you do something doesn't mean you qualify for a doctorate in it. There will be thousands of others who do a heck of a lot more for 'work on racial equality' who will never just get handed a doctorate because they aren't famous.

With Spiceboy on this it is PR rubbish. She doesn't deserve it.

I mean it is a song for a kids book, anyone expecting anything amazing or not throwaway has way too high expectations. I will say I'll be impressed if she has the balls to actually release it, streaming, download and Youtube.

They absolutely better push Christmas Wrapping too as it will be 25 years of it and we saw how it took off last year with no help from them at all.

Gosh Leigh-Anne has really been a big flop, top 10 on airplay and tv play and doing nothing.

Because they updated it for valentines day, hence most of the ballads at the top of it and the red cover. Then just lazily stuck Viva Forever at the top of it now for the 25th anniversary.

Will any of us ever live to see the day something knocks Wannabe off number 1 of their most popular list on Spotify?

Yep US album sales have a formula that basically includes everything down to even individual track downloads. So Wannabe will help the GH much more over in the US than the UK where they are much more tight on these things and even Wannabe's streams are downweighted. The GH could easily be over 2m in the US now given how much streaming has grown in the 3 years since the last update.

1.49 long? Streaming really is killing music.

I know a lot on here don't want to admit it but the reason a lot of the female popstars don't get airply when they get older is because the quality of their songs often nose dives. Mariah, Madonna, Kylie and so on have released a lot of sub par material in the last decade. Cher had a massive hit with Believe in her 50s but then believe is a corker of a song, what is she doing now Abba covers and I heard about an xmas album. Cringe. Radio was all over that song that sampled Fantasy by Mariah last year but then Fantasy is an amazing song. The other songs I have heard by her in recent years are rubbish. Kylie is having a big radio hit right now with something different but her last few albums have been so safe and average that only her fans are going to listen to them.

Not Jay putting in the same amount of effort as the girls do these days #oh

Cant be long before it moves up to 2nd on their popular list.

So if Kylie is #1 on airplay maybe it isn't sexism or ageism that stopped her doing it the last 10 or so years but that she hasn't released anything good enough.
