Mel B (twice), Emma and Mel C all missed the top 10 with songs from their debut album/era. It wasn't easy or easier than now. You had to actually get people to go out and invest their hard earned money in you. You couldn't just be put on lots of playlists.

If her insta is anything to go by her fans have absolutely no interest in the book she is releasing. The post of the front cover has less than 2k likes (from over 1.3m followers) and after a quick scan every other post of hers has at least 5k likes. I cant see this release being anything other than a disaster.

This is defo from someone who didn't live through the 90s. Top 10 wasn't good enough, you could have a string of top 10 singles and a decent selling album and be dropped. The industry was cut throat in the 90s. The Spice Girls got solo success but it wasn't a given. Victoria was labelled a flop and her career killed after a #2 single and a #7 single. Emma was dropped after What I am (#2), What took you so long (2 weeks at #1), Take my breath away (#5) and we're not gonna sleep tonight (#20), with the album they were from going top 5 and gold. Don't say love just isn't strong enough.

She pretty much did in the iplayer interview. She basically said for some of the girls it is a bit psycological having not been on stage since 2019 (she might as well have said Geri) so they would need to get some shows in before hand so they are on top form for next year. I'd be shocked at this point if they aren't doing it with a tour leading into it. Everything is pointing towards it.

Tbh I don't mind them playing about with it. It updated like a week ago so it might be a case of jiggling things around to see what gets the best results. As Jay said it will barely dent Wannabe or Stop's daily streaming numbers but it can easily double album tracks or b-sides streams being on it and the placement on it.

Yeah I mean from a streaming sales point of view it makes sense. Wannabe gets astronomical streams any way and it and Stop get downweighted on Spice/Spiceworld and the GH being the top 2 tracks for album streams.

Me and Jay have both pointed out several times to people with connections just how bad there 'This is' playlist was. Not sure it is anything to do with that though and more to do with the rumblings of a tour I heard a couple of months ago. I feel like if something happens this year/next year with them it will be big time. No half hearted reunion but a full on world tour, netflix documentary, unreleased album and Glasto all with Victoria. That is why this last few months have mainly been about growing the socials, tidying it all up (insta make over of highlighted stories), updating the website again with news. So it is all ready to go for maximum effect. There monthly listeners is at an all time high on Spotify, the This is playlist is ready to go. The official store is now more organised with it being split into easier to find sections/tabs.

Tbf there is a fine line between promoting and looking a bit desperate and small time. Going on Loose Women wont have any impact on streams (which is what she needs) but will sort of make her look a bit C-list. I'm sure the label are slightly scratching their heads as to what to do next though. Plough on with this song and waste maybe more goodwill and exposure on something that isn't thus far clicking or showing signs of being a steady hit. Or move on to the next single asap and hope it sticks better.

Worse than I expected (think I predicted #8). #11 is fine if it is number 11 from a majority of a streaming sales but it isn't. Next weeks drop could be eye watering. I said it and got shut down but there is just zero hype for this release.

Wannabe will hit 900m streams on Spotify on Friday. Would be good if we could get it to 1B asap.

There is just zero hype for this. I've seen no mention of it on my social media timelines (Kylie has been inescapable lately). I haven't heard Gem FM hyping up it and bigging up playing it as a must hear like they often do. I don't see where it fits in on radio, it is a bit dated but doesn't sound retro. Having the CDs and cheap download first week means there is nothing to give it a boost further down the line. I just cant see it doing anything bar nose diving off the charts after the CDs and downloads are gone after 1st week.

Of course but they are throwing the cds and cheap downloads at it at week 1 so chances of it climbing look slim unless it really takes off.

It does, hence me thinking it sounds like a Misteeq song. I struggle to see where it will fit in with todays charts and radio as it isn't like that early 2000 sound has had a come back like the 80s and 90s has. There seems to be little hype for this. The cds and cheap downloads will get a decent first week peak but 8-29-47-68-out is looking a likely outcome right now.

Some of the inclusions are clearly 'tactical'. Viva Forever with Pavarotti will I assume now appear on his Spotify page under discovered on or featured on (or will shortly). Same with Luther Vandros. Also the live covers the playlist will show up listed when people search for those songs. I guess they could have kept more album tracks and made it 45 or 50 songs, but it clearly aims to cover everything, singles, album tracks, bsides, rarities, live versions, remixes. The morales remix of SUYL already does well on Spotify as does the radio edit of Viva Forever which is why they are probably on it.

f*** me it has finally happened! 8 hours ago This is Spice Girls has updated on Spotify. All solo songs gone, 40 Spice girls only songs, complete mixture of singles, album tracks and bsides. Something must be coming very soon I would say.

You are acting like any of what was a hit where matters in 2023, when as we know playlists are what matters. Maybe is a well known pop song in certain circles that wont be added to any playlists if it isn't available to play. It is also greyed out and not playable even on her own best of and this is playlists in most countries. Maybe would be on loads of pride playlists etc. It wont get plays outside the UK from the Spice Girls songbook playlist too. I'm certain Maybe would be well within the top 10 of this countdown if it was available to be streamed WW.

It would be interesting to see Emma's numbers if all her music was available WW. It surely costs her a lot of streams especially for the Free Me album. Her popular top 10 is almost exclusively A girl like me and My happy place bare Maybe and you can only assume that is down two her middle to albums losing loads of potential streams.

Geri mimed 95% of the SW19 tour. It was so noticeable as her vocals were so different in sound to the other 3. It was painful on the IUCD rap how obvious it was. I mean imagine not actually singing a spoken rap in a language most wont understand and that is basically nonesense any way.

Slightly sad the top 3 are two duets and a cover version.

This was exactly my thinking. Mel made a good step forward in direction with the last album, I might be completely wrong but I cant imagine a duet between them being anything bar a step back to adult contempory or middle of the road stuff. Will happily be proved wrong though. If they did get the song right it might be the sort of thing BBC radio 2 eat up and the gays go for which would be good for Mel.
