I got major Viva Forever flash backs reading those quotes. Pretty sure most members of the Spice Girls said the same things about their music and a musical leading up to it opening in 2012. Also I think it is pretty obvious that these jukebox musical the actual artist have little to no imput. I doubt Steps were creating the story or picking the songs, themes and so on. It could end up brilliant or a disaster but honestly that wont depend on Steps themselves at all.

Any ideas Jay how many copies that was? Was it just 1 copy, I'd have thought given the revival of CD, cassette and vinyl singles it might have been multiple copies.

I've never read the Harry Potter books, how long were they between releases? Did it do well with kids though or gays buying 3 or more copies each?

Is anyone really surprised that Justin, in his mid 40s and not from a streaming era, is not setting Spotify records? The song is very clearly aimed at Radio 2 or Hot AC in the US. That is where is career will be now. I'm sure he will still shift a heck of a lot of tour tickets though.

Geri really should give it a couple of years before the next book. There will of course be less interest in a 2nd book especially in the US. I felt for 'Rosie' there seemed to be an interest in her, what she looked like and was like now as most casual US fans probably hadn't seen from her in a lot of years. No one on Spice Circle has complained at the quality of anything and they usually hate the quality of everything. All my items were the best quality product I've probably ever had related to the Spice Girls. The limited edition prestige book is such good quality I am thinking of ordering a 2nd to keep that will hopefully gain in value in a few years.

That reply is very much making me think an album is still very much in the balance depending on how any further singles go.

Spice Girls - This will be the year they pull it together. The documentary will make them super hot property and a tour will finally get announced. Loads of money making tie ins. Mel C - Singles released but not an album. Fitting in festivals where she can. Emma - Free Me vinyl and her streaming sorted out for its anniversary. Another Christmas single. Geri - Nothing much as I don't see the 2nd book coming out so soon. I have a feeling she might decide to launch a podcast. Mel B - More TV work Victoria - Her involvement with the documentary will be her Spice Girls duties done. So another year of posting women who are anorexic in bog standard clothes on her insta and using half naked videos of her husband to get social media interest.

That story feels absolutely planted. Not that I think it couldn't or didn't happen but the quote mentions keeping Spice Girls alive in 2023. Why sit on a story like that for weeks to put it out now? There was also a viral tweet yesterday about SYBT (and a clip of the video) which has had over a million views, but the quoted tweets of it felt like a lot of bots. I could be over thinking things but this defo feels like a modern day push by their team to get them out there and get people nostalgic for them.

I don't know why she didn't go all out and book 1 night at somewhere like the Royal Albert Hall. With all the international fans flocking over she could have sold it out I'm sure. Loads of people missed out on tickets and the venue is a piss poor one, she and the night deserved better.

This is classic moving the goal posts. Before Houdini dropped there was loads of talk it would debut at number 1. Wasn't anything doing any big numbers and she had two physicals. Then it would climb and be a long standing hit and go to number 1 post Christmas, then it would be loads of weeks top 10. Now it is 'well it peaked at #2 and is still charting'. It is easy to see expectations were high and rightly so. It has had the airplay, playlisting, physicals. It just hasn't caught on like people thought it would. That is life, it has under performed it isn't bad to admit that.

This is all I want too. It is painful when you actually try and analyze how a song is performing on the charts (cus this is a chart forum after all) and you get labelled a 'hater' straight away. It is absolutely fine to say Houdini is underperforming, as it is to stay Stick Season and Murder on the dance floor are way exceeding expectations. Quality is completely subjective but we can easily look at the hype, exposure, playlisting, radio play of a song and judge how well it is doing compared to those things. Isn't that the point of this forum?

I'll look forward to the ever-bright continual optimism towards Ed or Drake's next lead single. There will be no slamming of them should they miss the top spot right? Amazing that on here of all places, where female popstars get a much easier pass, you want to try and make this arguement about Dua or Ariana. :wacko: Houdini had it been by certain other artists would be dragged through the mud. Lead single, getting ridiculous radio play, 3 physicals, big playlisting, coming from a massive artist and limping through a chart run. This forum has been very kind on Houdini. Ariana remains to be seen how it does.
