‘Loves On Every Corner’ turns 30 today!
Dannii’s first single to miss the Top 40 in the UK, however it was released at a terrible time (December) and it’s chart run suggests it could have achieved more than its #44 peak (44-53-62-74). |

It wasn't the best of songs either which didn't help.

Yeah, I reckon it could have easily been a #36 hit in October.
That must have seemed like such a monumental disaster at the time though! |

Not really a fan of LOEC , the label didnt learn from releasing IDWTTP in December the previous year I thought the same, after IDWTTP scraped the Top 40 they thought it was wise to release an upbeat pop song in the middle of December the following year Yeah, I reckon it could have easily been a #36 hit in October. That must have seemed like such a monumental disaster at the time though! It would never have been a huge hit but released at a different time would have at least been Top 40, and I’m sure the record company had no clue what to do at that point - after a good start she had failed with a few singles, from this point on the whole GIY project was a mess, months between releases and going for a different sound each time. |

The complete different sounds didnt help, it was like Dannii or the label didnt know what sound they were going for or knew who to target her music at, for me more of the style of this is it would have worked so much better for this album but it was a one off sound for that it no way represented what the album was about.

She only recorded TII after the two first singles flopped!

She only recorded TII after the two first singles flopped! I don’t blame the label and management for trying to save the era with an out and out pop song but it was almost too late to save at that point and they didn’t have anything strong enough to follow it up with. I’m sure at the time it was a shock for MCA that they were not instantly replicating L&K’s success. |

I forgot This is it was only recorded after the first singles flopped, it going top 10 must have been a great relief for Dannii but it was all short lived as the follows again underperformed, this is it was the first dannii release i could honestly say i really really liked and i still like it alot now.

You have to also consider the promotion for this campaign.
Dannii was married in love, flying between UK, AUS and America (where Julian was working). The promo for L&K was so strong and it was not for GIY. |

If only she had met Jupiter earlier - she'd have made her stay and promote in the UK.

The lack of promo didnt help as she wasn't established enough to put promo on the back burner and the music wasn't strong enough to sell by itself.

Yep Dannii’s personal life along with the initial single choices and then stupidly long periods between the releases due to the singles not performing as expected made the project dead in the water from the start tbh
August 1992 - Show You The Way To Go December 1992 - Loves On Every Corner July 1993 - This Is It October 1993 - This Is The Way June 1994 - Get Into You By the time TII went Top 10 it had been almost 2 years since she was last Top 20 with ‘Baby Love’ which for a pop artist at the time was far too long even if you are a Minogue. I always thought it was random that we got ‘Get Into You’ 8 months after ‘This Is The Way’ and that it was randomly released on her Australian label Mushroom - I remember being impressed that it managed to make the Top 40. It was such a disjointed spread out release, felt they were hoping something would stick and yes 2 years not having a top 20 hit was far too long and it did have a knock on effect.

Danniis music career always suffered from lack of consistencies with this era a strong example.

If CD2 had been released in the same week it probably would've scraped the top 40. Not a great result, but considering CD2 was kind of like a mini-EP it's probably why it managed to stay in the top 75 for another three weeks. |
