#984 My Chemical Romance - The Ghost of You
Spotify streams: 171m
Year: 2004
UK Chart: {27}-66->2

MCR's fanbase is not to be underestimated, they'll make quite a few showings here as they were one of the defining rock bands of the decade. Not familiar with this one but rather good as you'd expect for them.

#983 OneRepublic - Stop And Stare
Spotify streams: 171m
Year: 2007
UK Chart: 11-9-8-{4}-4-4-9-11-15-19-22-28-35-32-40-37-44-51-58-59-66-58-61->23

The second UK hit for OneRepublic and it remains a lot better than any of their hits from the past decade. Think it's been years since I've heard this last so a good revisit here.

#982 Aphex Twin - Avril 14th
Spotify streams: 171m
Year: 2001
UK Chart: DNC

Aphex Twin is mostly known for weird electronica however his biggest streaming hit is a piano ballad that clearly benefitted a fair bit from being friendly to mood playlists. A very pleasant listen anyhow.

#981 The Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You
Spotify streams: 171m
Year: 2000
UK Chart: {5}-10-16-25-36-41-46-52-55-63->10

One of the classic indie-pop hits of the early 00s, very fun song.

#980 JAY-Z - 03' Bonnie & Clyde
Spotify streams: 171m
Year: 2002
UK Chart: {2}-4-9-13-12-19-22-32-45-55-55-65->12

The song that introduced the power couple of Jay and Bey...

Only know 'Follow Me' by Uncle Kracker which is a tune but nothing else. Should give this a spin.

'The Ghost of You' is decent MCR, 'Stop and Stare' is a great track from OneRepublic and then 'Bohemian Like You' is a certified classic.

'Bohemian Like You' is my favourite of those revealed today *.* can't say I was expecting an Aphex Twin appearance in this countdown so that's already a fun swerve!

#979 The Kooks - Seaside
Spotify streams: 171m
Year: 2006
UK Chart: DNC

The opening track of their debut album which wasn't a single but must have got some viral traction at some point I guess.

#978 Kasabian - Fire
Spotify streams: 171m
Year: 2009
UK Chart: {3}-8-14-20-24-27-27-30-30-37-43-46-45-52-56-64-72-42R(21)-55-73->20

The biggest hit for Kasabian in the UK chart and also on streaming.

#977 Coldplay - Violet Hill
Spotify streams: 171m
Year: 2008
UK Chart: {8}-8-10-11-14-12-11-21-32-36-36-42-56-53-64->15

A bit underrated for Coldplay as it got quickly overshadowed by the massive Viva La Vida however it has still done very well for itself here.

#976 My Chemical Romance - Dead!
Spotify streams: 172m
Year: 2006
UK Chart: DNC

The Black Parade was such a big album that we'll be getting multiple non-singles from it here. Firstly a song fit for a funeral...

#975 September - Cry for You
Spotify streams: 172m (combined: album version and UK radio edit)
Year: 2007
UK Chart: 9-{5}-5-6-7-10-9-9-15-15-19-19-20-24-26-27-29-35-44-50-62-61->22

The biggest hit for the Swedish singer being a big dance anthem.

#974 Wisin & Yandel - Ahora Es
Spotify streams: 172m
Year: 2008
UK Chart: DNC

Second appearance for them, not too dissimilar to their first.

#973 Wolfmother - Woman
Spotify streams: 172m
Year: 2006
UK Chart: {31}-48-65->3

Wasn't expecting them to have so many streams, they're an Australian rock band who have 2 appearances here. Seemingly weren't so big in the UK where this was their only top 40 hit.

#972 Miike Snow - Animal
Spotify streams: 172m
Year: 2009
UK Chart: DNC

Swedish indie group one member who would later form Galantis.

#971 Chris Brown - Say Goodbye
Spotify streams: 172m
Year: 2005
UK Chart: DNC

Why? Thankfully not a UK hit anyway.

#970 Arctic Monkeys - Old Yellow Bricks
Spotify streams: 172m
Year: 2007
UK Chart: DNC

Looks like there'll be a good few appearances from them here, including some album tracks.

Some fantastic songs here plus a discovery for me - I did not know Miike Snow was related to Galantis! Christian of Miile Snow was 1/2 of Galantis until 2017. Thank you Google

Also the deceiving named The Wombats aren’t Aussie laugh.gif Unless that was an animal pun on your behalf then I have been lampooned

Those MCR, OR, Coldplay, Kasabian, and Wolfmother tracks are some of their finest. Hopefully it shows up later but Wolfmother’s Joker And The Thief is one of my all time favourite rock songs

#969 Crystal Castles - Vanished
Spotify streams: 173m
Year: 2008
UK Chart: DNC

Former electronic duo who were big with indie fans for a few years, not too familiar with their stuff but this is sounding quite good.

#968 My Chemical Romance - Disenchanted
Spotify streams: 173m
Year: 2006
UK Chart: DNC

Another MCR album track already! Good though.

#967 Damien Rice - 9 Crimes
Spotify streams: 173m
Year: 2006
UK Chart: 55-{29}-48-59-67->5

Piano ballad from the 'Cannonball' singer (that song oddly isn't in the list however)

#966 Daniel Bedingfield - If You're Not The One
Spotify streams: 173m
Year: 2002
UK Chart: {1}-3-4-6-6-4-4-7-8-11-12-7-14-14-18-26-34-38-45-58-72->21

Daniel Bedingfield's biggest hit. We'll see from his sister later on.

#965 Shakira - Las de la Intuición
Spotify streams: 173m
Year: 2005
UK Chart: DNC

Quite groovy here. Although it's in Spanish so of course wasn't a UK hit.

Another MCR album track already! Good though.

This one got high daily streams last year in Indonesia. Glad it impacted the song to be here! cheer.gif

'Violet Hill', 'Dead!', 'Disenchanted' all good songs popping up there. '9 Crimes' is also quite nice and IYNTO only 966 ohmy.gif for such a big hit for Daniel too. Shakira's is great and sounds like she's about to go into 'Don't Bother' which I guess isn't much a surprise with it coming out the next year!

Edit : 'Cry For You' also a tune too of course.

Just catching up with this now - lots of nostalgia there, especially Animal, Let's Dance to Joy Division and Seaside (a favourite from when young me used to enjoy short songs!)

#964 Christina Aguilera - Hurt

Year: 2006
UK Chart: 33-{11}-11-16-26-33-44-38-53-60-65-67R(2)-39R(43)-25R(99)-64->15

Christina's 2006 album gave her three big hits however it's this heartbreaking ballad that ends up the biggest.

#963 Ricky Martin - Tu Recuerdo
Spotify streams: 173m
Year: 2006
UK Chart: DNC

An MTV unplugged session from Ricky Martin managed to give him another big hit in Spanish speaking countries.

#962 Los Enanitos Verdes - Tu Carcel

Year: 2004
UK Chart: DNC

Another live recording anyone?

#961 Skillet - Comatose

Rock band who never had any UK hits but were seemingly a big deal in America.

#960 The Killers - Smile Like You Mean It
Spotify streams: 173m
Year: 2004
UK Chart: {11}-25-39-55-68-70R(5)->6

The Killers had some great stuff in their debut era this included; three more from this album to come one of which will end up very high as you'd expect.

Yes Christina! Hurt remains stunning and feels deserving of a far better chart life than it had. Two weeks at #11 was so frustrating at the time.

Nice to see The Killers, though it is not one of their best songs overall from their debut era.

#958 Eminem - Business
Spotify streams: 174m
Year: 2002
UK Chart: {6}-11-14-18-27-35-43-58-65->9

There'll be a lot of Eminem here; this is the first of six from his 2002 album The Eminem Show which was a late UK single impacting in July 2003. Assisted by Dr Dre here.

#957 Miguel Bosé - Morena mía
Spotify streams: 174m
Year: 2001

Spanish singer with his biggest hit.

#956 Eric Prydz - Pjanoo

A huge dance anthem of the late 00s cementing Eric Prydz as a legend of house music.

#955 mor ve ötesi - Bir Derdim Var
